Hurricane Platter (for two)
Danielle D.

We ordered the hurricane platter for two and it was absolutely delicious we also tried their clam chowder which was delicious the meal came with salads and they were huge. The ranch was homemade and the lettuce was crisp and fresh. Our walleye shrimp and scallops were pan fried and I believe it's called blackened seasoning but it was delicious and the meal was terrific. Price was a little expensive but not outrageous it was very reasonable for the food that we had portions were very generous. 10 out of 10 will be going again.

New York Strip "Rare"

Charming environs, excellent service. Good value and they know how to make a Cocktail. Salad was generous, fresh and delicious. Only miss was the preparation of my NY Strip. Missed "rare" by a country mile, mine was Medium well. Opted not to make a fuss, I'm sure they would've brought another done closer to my request. That's on me.

We made a reservation two hours in advance and they put as at the worst table next to the entrance.

Absolutely amazing. Short staffed but you'd never know. Our hostess/bartender/server (yes, all the same person) was so friendly and attentive. I wish I'd gotten her name The food and drinks were top notch. Shrimp and scallops for me. Catfish and frog legs for the Hubs. Old fashioned was perfection.

Pan fried walleye and scallops with the butter parsley potatoes. Clam chowder.

Lovely service, tasty martinis; I had the elderflower martini, and fresh seafood! Everything was cooked nicely. I will get the same thing if I get to go back. Even the pickles and bread that come out first are fresh and delicious. We also ordered the ribeye and it comes loaded with onions and mushrooms if you request it!

Great fish selection and old fashions. Can get busy around typical dinner time. Recommend a reservation.

Food, service, bar, good ambiance all in a historic oldest-continuously-operating-restaurant-in-Wisconsin setting. Worth the drive!

Great service. Classic super club feel. Food is decent but don't order steak. Tight seating fit big parties.

Spectacular service, food, and drinks... good food and even better people. This will be a constant on my future fishing trips up north.

I loved coming to this store - My family has been purchasing alcohol from here for years. That's…read morewhy I was shocked to have a bad experience. Back story: We just renewed our licenses to get the new special star for TSA. The Minnesota DMV stated as long as we had our voided license with the printed paper given to us with all the new license information, it would count for a temporary until we received our new licenses. We go to check out and the an older gentleman says can I see an ID? My boyfriend says sure no problem and hands him his voided license. The gentleman looks at it and back at my boyfriend then says dude are you kidding me? My boyfriend explains the whole license renewal story and how he has the paperwork from the DMV to go with it. The gentleman says this isn't valid you can fake this. He goes into a story about how he had a 19 year old come in with ONLY the paper print off and the gentlemen sold him alcohol. Since that happened with that customer he then starts accusing us of having fake IDs. We state yet again it's a legal document the DMV gave us. The gentleman states again it's not valid and tries to pull up the fake form online. Now I know every store has the right to refuse service. We would've had no problem taking our business elsewhere if this gentleman was that nervous about excepting that form of ID. But do NOT accuse us of forging government documents. That was unacceptable service. For myself and other customers I would recommend shopping at other liquor stores from now on.

Good selection of beer wine and alcohol. Reasonable prices. I would recommend if you need to pick…read moreup something quickly for company or a special occasion.

Thankfully, we made a reservation so we were able to sit inside and not outside in the hot heat, although there were lots of folks that were sitting at the tables with the umbrellas and seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely! I started with the bourbon and bacon which was stellar!! I loved the bacon so so much. The pepper one was a little bit too peppery for my liking and I still appreciated the chance to try it. I wish I could just get a plate of bacon when I come here because the bacon is so so good. I continued the evening with more pig products and got the pork tenderloin with the maple bourbon glaze and wild rice and asparagus. This was super Duper Duper Duper excellent!! And I totally loved this meal. I was able to complement it with some Sangiovese from I don't remember where but it was also really light and delicious for a summer day. Back to the meal, the asparagus was perfectly cooked and the wild rice had really great flavor. Not surprisingly, I didn't have any room for dessert because I already had lots of food and I also stole a bite of the beef and brisket burger which was excellent along with the french fries that were also very good.

This place has potential. It's a nice setting in the perfect downtown Eau Claire location. Could…read morebe a lot of fun for groups and couples alike. But there are problems to be worked out. GOOD: The overall concept is well-executed. Wine selections are clearly displayed on the overhead menu, with options for glasses or sample flights. Pricing is transparent and reasonable (more on that in a moment), and easy enough to follow along even if you've already had a drink elsewhere. I also like that you can choose a bottle of beer from the fridge if you don't want any of the wine selections. For me, this made the overall experience more approachable. The lounge area is warm and inviting. Relaxing club seats up front, with some tables next to the bar, and a small store in the back. The feel is late-middle aged cool. Service was very warm. NEEDS IMPROVEMENT: * The wine... was nothing special. While the prices were reasonable, even the "premium" wine was not all that noteworthy. If the Rev is going to succeed as a wine bar, I would recommend better selections. (The beer fridge, however, was very nice - and that saved it for me.) * The food menu situation is completely hosed. And to me there is nothing more discouraging than walking into a bar and being presented with a food menu... and an apology that the menu is completely out of date. Our host was apologetic and promised a new menu in the future. We hope so. Overall the Rev is definitely worth a visit for Eau Claire locals and visitors alike. It's grown-up cool, laid back atmosphere is good for a group of fun seekers out on the town. I'd only like to see improvements in wine quality and consistent food offerings.

I want to give a shout-out to the The Rev for being such an AMAZING host for our 20-year Memorial…read moreHigh School reunion, which was held July 20, 2019. To preface: I work in international education, and was planning our reunion from China of all places. As you might imagine, planning an event for 100+ people from abroad is no easy task. Combine this with the extra challenge of trying to communicate with a virtual Firewall in the way, and you can understand what an undertaking this was. The first issue was getting a venue. With the reunion being held during the same weekend as Country Jam and Rock Fest, our planning committee was a little bit nervous about the different venue options available. We were relieved to find that The Rev had availability for that weekend and would happily accommodate our group. We had a limited budget to work with for this event. Working directly with us, the fabulous Kate Haas, owner/manager, went about putting together a catering plan (heavy apps) that went under budget (and more importantly) appeased the diverse pallets of 100+. B/C of budget limitations, we opted to do a cash-bar w/ a complimentary champagne toast at 8:00 (which, by the way, was perfectly organized). A great offering of craft/domestic beers and wine + spirits gave everyone great beverage options. Bartending staff throughout the night were FANTASTIC! Being that we were celebrating our 20-year reunion, music nostalgia was KEY. Kate hooked us up with one of her specially-picked DJs for the night. Let me say: He was the star of the show! Non-obtrusive, but also knew EXACTLY what needed to be played at the EXACT moment. Many said afterwards that they had never experienced a better DJ. Get that man a raise! The Rev, itself, is amazing for hosting a group of 100 ppl or less. Great ambiance, an outdoor space out back - even a small room in back to use as central operations and/or additional space. Best of all, with The Rev being in the heart of DT Eau Claire, attendees can do some bar-crawling in after-event hours. All-in-all, this was an event for the ages. My HUGE thanks to Kate and her staff at the Rev for making this such a wonderfully positive experience. Got a group you're trying to plan an event for? Look no further than The Rev!
