Derek the bartender runs a smooth show. All customers were talked to and served quickly. I tried a new to me beer Schell's Brickhouse. Fresh and tasty. Mango Habanero chicken wings were great. Nice sauce, crispy, and hot. Good music. Bar area is very Winona sports themed. Good place. read more

I hear for dinner and I have to say that myself my husband and my father all had a different burger off the menu and their burgers are cooked perfectly! We all ordered our burgers, medium, and they were perfectly pink! They had great flavor and all the rest of the food as well as our sides were absolutely delicious! If you want to try an appetizer, I definitely recommend the bruschetta. The service was really good as well. Our waiter was very attentive and super friendly. The only downfall is that they don't keep the restaurant itself very illuminated so it is a bit dark in there which made reading the menu a tad difficult, especially for my senior father, other than that I can definitely say I will be going back again! read more

We ate here while staying at the Plaza Hotel during a hockey tournament. The food was above average, I had a burger and salad; the people we were with had a dinner salad and some cheese steak. I enjoyed the beer selection, which had a lot of nice micro-brews. The service was pretty poor. They didn't have very many waitstaff working on a Saturday evening, and our waitress literally forgot to come back and order our dinner (despite us asking 2x). I think she got hung up delivering some drinks and some other food, but then took two other tables' orders as we were waiting. In the end, the experience was okay. I'm not sure what other options there are in town. If you are staying at the hotel, its' convenient and average priced and the food was pretty good. Seated without a wait. Friendly waitress. Evidently cooks (cannot even bring self to say chef) having a very bad night. Waited about a hour for food. Several open tables, so didn't seem that busy. Only 2 items ordered. Mushroom & Swiss burger, rare - medium rare was gray, but not even hot. Did'nt seem like 1/3 lb burger. Not sure they were fresh mushrooms, as not very many - $16.99. Onion rings $2.00 upcharge, not even lukewarm, and soggy. My daughter's pasta Alfredo ok, but sauce thin and watery. Not worth the $47 total (Ice tea, and pop, no alcohol). I was quite surprised with this place. It is a "hotel restaurant" but the food was exceptional. I got the ribeye and although I didn't see it on the menu it is smothered with onions and mushrooms with a little bit of gravy. It was so delicious. My friend got some chicken wings off of the appetizer menu. They were really good also. We got the cheese curds as an appetizer and they had a outside flavored seasoning. A good portion for two or three people. Although the prices are a little steep for Winona Minnesota, I think it might be bc of the hotel atmosphere. Very good food. My friend got wings and a medium pizza with sausage and onion. He loooved it. I forgot what kind of sauce he got for the wings, but I tried some, and it was great. I got a salad, less the avocado, bacon, cheese, and dressing. Same price as the chicken salad, but still had more ingredients even with the exclusions. I got wing sauce, instead of the dressing. Really good meal, I'd definitely order it again. I got iced tea, and my friend got soda. It did take a long time for refills. I would recommend this restaurant. read more

So we tried River City Grill for dinner. The restaurant formally known as Green Mill. My finance order us wings and a philly cheese steak. Onion rings on the side. The philly cheese steak was off the charts! It was fantastic! The buffalo wings were traditional and also pretty darn good. The bbq wings were boneless and that may have been my fault. The portions were huge and the wings were okay. Could have been better. Overall it was a good first experience with a new restaurant in winona. The worst service I have ever had ever. We put in a reservation at 7:20 for a table of 9 and at 8:45 no one contacted us. When we went to the hostess desk they said sorry but our kitchen closes in 15 minutes. No advanced warning of the kitchen closing. We had no time to order. Will never recommend this place to anyone. Our family used to love this place. We made a reservation for my sisters 21st birthday and called the day before to make sure we could reserve an outdoor table for 6:30. We have a newborn baby and was told by her pediatrician to not dine indoors at restaurants yet. The manager said we would have a table for 6:30. We get there the next day with our party of 12 and they don't have a table for us. There were a few open tables outside that we asked if we could just push together. The manager said no and was extremely rude. We asked again if we could just please push a few tables together outside because they told us we'd have outdoor seating at 6:30 and there wasnt. The manager again said no and said it was her mistake on the phone and they can't make reservations for the patio. The manager was extremely rude about the entire situation and unapologetic. We had to leave because we could not eat indoors. The manager's rudeness ruined my sisters 21st birthday and put her in tears. So glad they were open again. As far as restaurants associated with hotels this is one of the absolute best in the Midwest. First night back open and they were moderately busy already. Great beer tap selection and fantastic food. They have a fantastic bar and a very friendly staff. I have never had a bad meal here. I used to travel this area all the time but not as much anymore. I will actually travel a little out of my way to stay at the Plaza and eat at River City. Usually stay at the chain hotels only but because of the restaurant a typically make an exception in Winona. Usually a fun atmosphere when we are not in a Pandemic. read more

I will never recommend this place to anyone. Not only is the food over priced for how bland and burnt it was. I asked for a virgin margarita and the waitress gave me one that was pretty much straight tequila. She didn't ID anyone in the group who did get alcohol. Our bill was about 72$ and they charged me over 75$ which was all of the money in my account and took it to pending when the card declined as partial approved which means that they charge me for more then the bill actually was and more then the 75$ that was in my account. When the manager came up to talk to us about it she pretty much told us we were out of luck and we needed to pay with a different card or in cash even though they already over charged us on the original card. read more

The Boneless Wings are huge and the River City Sauce is tasty: a little spicy, but not burn-your-lips-off hot. The Cheese curds appetizer was great, light, fluffy and perfect batter. The Cheddar Bacon Burger was also good: big burger, thick strips of bacon and haystack onions on top. Decent social-distancing and employees all masked-up. A great dinner, and we will be back. If you have celiac or non celiac gluten sensitivity be wary of this restaurant. I ordered the wings that were labeled gluten free and confirmed this with the server before ordering. Unfortunately I got glutened worse than I ever have before in my life. I have been in agony since eating the wings 3 days ago. I have no idea whether there is gluten in the sauce or if there was cross contact in the baking or tossing process but whatever it is it's bad. read more
