Our first night in Winona, my hubby surprised me with a reservation at Signatures for dinner. You really can't beat the view at this restaurant, it was spectacular. We were lucky to get a table with an amazing view of the golf course and surrounding hills. I bet this place is beautiful when the leaves are changing. They also have live music which adds a little romance. First off, I love their bread service and the fact that a server comes to you with the three bread choices. We tried all there and I think my favorite was the garlic ciabatta. We started our meal with a bowl of the clam chowder, which was nice and creamy. For my entree, I ordered the sole that was wrapped in pancetta and had a crab stuffing. This was definitely a filling dish and a little on the heavy side, but still delicious. It came with a salad to start. I would definitely recommend their homemade maple vinaigrette, it was fantastic! My husband had the lamb chops, which seemed like a smaller portion than the fish. For dessert, we had the molten chocolate cake. It was pretty good, but I thought the chocolate was a bit bland. I prefer a rich, dark chocolate. I also didn't particular care for the strawberry ice cream. It was more icy than creamy and not nearly as good as the peach and currant sorbet they served before the main course to cleanse the pallet. Overall, a great meal and even better atmosphere! read more

Love their BBQ Braised Ribs... one of the best I've had for quite awhile. Flies & gnats were a bit annoying, but i am not going to complain about this beautiful fall weather. Will definitely order again, or go to the holiday buffets just for the ribs. read more

We are fairly new to WInona and just discovered this place. It is now our go too restaurant. Dinner at Signature's includes a beautiful view of the golf course. The multiple included sides were all delicious as well as the crab cakes and shrimp we ordered as part of their Friday night seafood special. The new menu items and promotions are definitely appreciated. It seems like the restaurant is busier and going in the right direction. While the outdoor seating weather is waning when outdoor seating is open next year they need to manage the bugs better. Biting nats, mosquitoes, bees and flies need to be eradicated. read more

If I could do zero stars I would. We went to celebrate my sons birthday. HORRIBLE service from the get go. Waited over an hour for drinks (mock tales) only received them after asking again. Waited over an hour for our food, again had to go ask before it arrived. 5 of the 6 people in our party were served while the one who ordered a salad had to wait another 15 minuets. Chicken was overcooked to the point it was not edible, burger was overcooked to the point that it was so hard it could not be eaten. Pot pie was flavorless and pure mush. The waiter was inattentive and uninformed ( he said there was squash in the fruit cup). All in all we were in the restaurant for over 2.5 hours and it felt like we had to beg them to serve us. A complete waste of time and money. Their website touts that "Guests receive outstanding quality ... and that they pride ourselves on exceptional customer service... featuring gourmet entrées...and that their most valuable asset is thier people. You will find the Signatures staff to be extremely helpful and accommodating in their efforts to exceed the expectations of our customers." When we tried to address our concerns we were dismissed and basically told that it was our fault for ordering a hamburger. Never again. It feels like I was just robbed. Robbed of a enjoyable night with my children and robbed of my hard earned money. read more

I tried Signatures a few years ago. Very high end place -- or at least that is what they hope to be. I got the equivalent of a 7 course meal. I was told it would showcase a hefty array of Signature's offerings and I would love all of it. It was not very good and it was expensive as hell. My waitress was very snooty. I have never gotten the opportunity to appropriately ever label someone this way, but she certainly fit the bill. The initial offering was a salad. It was fair sized for a side salad, but a ton of lettuce. I can buy better side salads at the grocery store in a bag for $2.50. I made the mistake of asking my waitress if they served 1000 island dressing. She said in the most condescending way, "We don't SERVE 1000 island here." Like peasants choose 1000 island or something. She told me they had ranch, italian, and a vinegarette (I forget what kind of vinegarette). I told her no thank you and nibbled on a little lettuce before I had her take it away. That was a waste. Oh, and how is RANCH suddenly so high class and 1000 island isn't? Maybe I missed something not eating in the finest of circles. Most of the other "courses" were really very small items that you aren't really supposed to eat. For example, I was brought a very small scoop of what looked like a hard ice cream. It was good. Had an orange sorbet taste, but it was unusually thick. I made the mistake again of asking what it was. I was told it was a palette cleanser. It was taken from me before I finished it because -- like I said -- you aren't supposed to actually eat it. You get some of the flavor of it and then they take it from you. I guess it helps get the taste of the food you just ate -- does that mean they admit the previous course tasted bad? The main course had 4 options. I was not enamored with any of them. I don't recall the other 3, but the one I selected was a steak with a mushroom sauce. I'm pretty particular about mushrooms, so I requested it on the side or not to have it at all. I was snootily (if that is a word) informed that the chef has selected a particular way of creating his/her food and I shouldn't alter it. It came to me as the chef designed it. Not surprising, it was awful. The mushroom sauce almost completely covered the steak. And why do they put steak on top of things, like veggies or mashed potatoes? The plate is big enough to accommodate all of the food separately so the mushroom sauce isn't on the accompanying items. Unfortunately, the mushrooms were either bad or cooked bad. They had a soured gravy taste to them and it was awful. Since it was all over the food, it tainted pretty much the entire dish. I was able to nibble some parts of the steak. I prefer my steak dead (yeah, I know that isn't how it should be cooked) and this was so pink that it was practically mooing. I am not sure why PETA hasn't shown up because this animal was served alive. For the ridiculous price this place charges, it isn't anywhere near worth it. The servers are condescending and treat you like a moron for not knowing about their version of "fine dining." Making terrible food, being inflexible on how to prepare it, trying to make your customers feel dumb, and charging high prices does NOT constitute "fine dining." It does, however, constititute a "bad restaurant" and that is what Signatures is. read more

We were able to squeeze in a visit to Signatures while on a recent trip in Winona. Many people we talked with spoke very highly of Signatures dinner menu. We were short on time so we ended up eating there over the lunch hour with the lunch menu. One of the great things about Signatures is the wonderful view especially with our seats situated next to the window. The view was very enjoyable even being a winter day seeing out over the golf course and the beautiful bluffs of the area. We did a quick sample tasting of the menu including fried pickles, the soup of the day, siracha chicken sandwich and pot pie. Of those choices, we thought the pot pie was the best of our choices with great flavor and a very nice crust. Overall, the food was good to very good for this visit and we look forward to going back to test out the dinner menu that so many people rave about. read more

Bad. Just bad. I wish I read the yelp reviews before dining here. EXCEPT OUR WAITER MIKAH- he was incredible.. deserves a raise for just being a great human. Two main problems: incredibly unprofessional staff- mainly the bartender by the name of either Joe or Jon.. when I asked another staff member his name she said she did not know but would check and when she came back she asked why- I explained I over heard him talking about how bad THEIR products were that I had just ordered- and she gave me a different name then another staff member did. The bartender continued and consistently spoke negatively about various other staff members as well. Second reason was the food is just looks. It looked like it should taste what you are paying for but in reality you are eating subpar cuts of meat, over salted vegetables, and mediocre appetizers. For the price and the presentation- I expect better. My fiancé had a 16 oz ribeye and actually could eat about 6 oz because of cut. Will never be going back but has beautiful landscape. read more

Our experience was extremely poor. We waited for 25 minutes before our server approached us and another 15 minutes for the first drink. Two people at our table had requested soup rather than salad and it was never delivered. Apparently they ran out of soup and had to make more. When we requested a refill of soda, the soda fountain needed to be refilled to which we had to remind them 15 minutes later that we were still waiting for a refill. The main course was mediocre at best. Much of the time, a few wait staff were standing around, not doing much. It is certainly understandable when places are short on staff, but this definitely was not the situation. An extremely disappointing experience for $35 a plate. read more

I had the lamb shank which was only ok, friend had the ribeye which was over cooked. Another friend had the pasta which she said was absolutely fabulous. My boyfriend and I went here for our 8th anniversary. The place was empty when we got there so we sat ourselves. Our waitress was friendly but we could overhear all of the waitresses gossiping behind the bar from our table. The service was slow, we waited 35 minutes for the waitress to ask us what we wanted to order. They were out of the butternut squash ravioli so I had to find something else to order. It took another 25 minutes for our food to be brought out. At this point it was only us and another couple that had sat down near the bar in the restaurant. The food was good, not as great as our friend's had mentioned. We ended up paying $100, we knew the bill wasn't going to be cheap. What we didn't know however was that we had gotten food poisoning and wouldn't be going to work the next day. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

This review is for "The Grill" at Signatures which is the bar area. Indoor and outdoor seating and has beautiful views. If it's cold outside get a pot pie. Both the chicken and beef are amazing. If it's summer, go with the walleye sandwich. Being it's in the bar area there is a wide selection of drinks. It's at a golf course so there's always people around no matter the time of day which I like. But it's never overcrowded. I've held several business meetings there and you can always find a secluded spot if you want. The only con (which I've overcome) is when I walk in the bartender says hi and then goes back to work. So I'm left standing there wondering if I'll be helped or if I need to find my own seat. You need to find your own seat. So now I do that and someone's comes right over to help. read more

This place has a beautiful country setting. We like to come here when we visit relatives in the Winona area. We had duck egg rolls, chicken wild rice soup with grilled walleye with the cinnamon cheesecake for desert. If based on atmosphere and service alone, then it's absolutely 5 stars. Devin was a fantastic server, knowledgeable, attentive, but not too attentive (which was great, since the atmosphere is very romantic) . The food was quite good, but pedestrian in terms of flavors. It seemed as if the chef was catering toward the stereotypical bland Midwest palate, and didn't want to push any of the dishes too far from that flavor profile. We had a great time visiting Signatures while in Winona for our anniversary. The staff were very friendly and took great care of us, and the view is terrific--looking out over the golf course, pond and hills beyond. My pork tenderloin was delicious, with a great smokey flavor and tasty apple compote. My wife had the surf and turf and declared the steak was perfect. My wife took me here for Father's Day dinner. I've been to signature 's many times before and it has never disappointed. But the lamb chops I had was the best meal I have had there. It was cooked to my liking and the flavor was to die for. As usual the service was very good and this time of the year the view is stunning. My husband and I went here after catching a show at the Great River Shakespeare festival. We had a reservation for 7 PM on Saturday night. At first, we thought we'd try to get in a little earlier, so we called and asked if we could come any earlier than 7 and they said they were booked full until then. This indicated to me that this is definitely a place you need reservations for (at least for a weekend night). The place was fancy but not overly so, which I appreciated. It's the kind of place where they bring a new fork for each course. There's a beautiful view that the tables face. The restaurant also has collectables all over the walls... a guitar signed by artists at Woodstock, Fred Astaire's umbrella, a saxophone signed by Bill Clinton, etc. Kind of interesting. As for the food... it is "fancy" food. This isn't a meat and potatoes kind of place. It's a place where you're supposed to appreciate the "experience" of the food and the interesting combinations of flavors they've created. But even though I'm a meat and potatoes kind of person, I was surprisingly pleased by how much I enjoyed the food. They started out by bringing us a free starter item: a small piece of a special type of lettuce filled with goat cheese and topped with a walnut and grapes. Delicious! I ordered the Mediterranean salad and was pleased with that as well. For my entree, I ordered the lamb shank (as they were out of the lamb chop, I was informed it would be replaced by the shank). This was prepared very well; however, I was not a particular fan of the raspberry-mint chutney (but this was not surprising since I don't care for raspberries or mint, but I thought I'd give it a try). I ordered an after-dinner drink, the Korbel Brandy Alexander. Excellent. Brandy, chocolate liqueur, and ice cream. It was a small amount, but I found it was a satisfying amount. Perfect. Then when they brought the bill, they also brought two free bite-size samples of one of their specialty desserts: lefse. These were tasty as well. Although our waiter was a bit odd (we thought of Spicoli in a waiter suit), he provided us with good service and a few chuckles. Overall, I had a delightful experience and would definitely come back if I ever make it back to Winona. read more

The venue is very scenic BUT THAT IS ALL THIS PLACE HAS GOING FOR ITSELF. Prior to the way the management treated our group I might have rated this a little higher, but I am disappointed with their service. After 12 years in the service industry, I've become more aware of bad, ok, good, and great service. Outside of the event that made this a 1 (which I will explain later), the service was not overly friendly or responsive to their paying customer requests. We rented out the outdoor space for an 80th birthday. When we asked for more chairs do to the age of the guests so they could get seated we were told they could get 1 half dozen more chairs which I personally never saw followed through on. Where they were attentive was taking away 1/2 full glasses when someone turned their back which cost us more as it made us go through more beer, punch etc...than needed (and that was at $275 a keg for Miller Lite). The worst part came when the golf pro over reacted to an innocent event. An individual in the party, who was the biggest advocate for hosting the event at Signatures, thought a set of clubs in the parking lot next to a piece of turf were demo clubs so he took a swing with them...he was quickly yelled at. Despite this individual apologizing for an innocent mistake the golf pro continued to be rude (he could have turned this into a sale) and informed the catering service to cut this individual off. This was TOTALLY UNCALLED for. The manager backed his employee and ultimately caused the party to end abruptly. Despite the organizers trying to understand why there was an issue and following with her contact Alex, Signatures continued to place blame on the individual, took no accountability and didn't apologize for spoiling the 80th birthday party for no reason at all! There are plenty of other venues in the areas that have better customer service! read more

After hearing so much about Signatures on the radio, we decided to take a drive and try it one Friday night. Signatures has the ultimate location, beautifully located on the course of The Bridges Golf Club. The ambiance inside is elegant and intimate with stylish decor, dramatic lighting, and of course, scenic views. I was surprised to see that such a gorgeous place was so quiet for a Friday night. After ordering our food, we were presented with a small appetizer, a stuffed mushroom. From my experience, it is not a good sign if a place gives away food, but regardless, it was delicious. And each time something was brought to our table, a multiple servers came. It seemed to be the ultimate customer service! However, when our waitress returned with our food, that was the last we saw of her. We asked another server, and she responded that they are not to return and ask how everything is--something about the chef being trained for gold certification and everything is supposed to be spot on. Not all of our orders were correct, so we would have liked to address this with the server. We did mention our experience with the host who seemed surprised that we actually had a complaint. After dinner, they brought out a small pallette-cleanser, a raspberry sorbet, which, again was totally unexpected. I will try Signatures again, but I have to say that I was truly disappointed that such a reknowned place--a place that originally seemed so service-oriented--turned out to be so genuinely nonchalant and aloof. read more

Do NOT book an event here!!! Worst experience ever! The staff was not helpful and the management is horrible and watch out for the most egotistical "golf pro" ever. We were there for my uncles 80th birthday. The kegs are over priced the food is so-so and as previously mentions the staff is horrible! First we found out it doesn't have AC a few days before hand. Jump ahead to the day of the event, we asked for more chairs and they never came. Other than that the day was going fine. Things started to whined down and my husband and I were getting ready to leave when we heard there was an issue. Signatures is also a golf course and there had been a set of clubs out all day next to a grass area. I noticed the clubs hours earlier so literally all day and outside the pro shop where I can only assume they sell golf supplies. My very sober cousin was out helping pack up his dad's birthday gifts into the car and on his way back assumed the clubs that had been sitting out all day were demo clubs. He very innocently took out a club (he is a big golfer) to take a few practice swings. Next thing he knew a very aggressive guy is yelling and screaming at him to not be touching his clubs. My cousin apologized and explained it was a mistake. The "golf pro" was aggressive and rude and would not back down. My cousin walked away and moved on not wanting to escalate the situation. A few mins later we learned the "golf pro" went to the bar tender and told them to cut him off, again he was sober. Family members asked to talk to management and more or less a teenager came out. He didn't ask to understand the situation, all he said is he had to support his staff. Clearly customer service is NOT a priority! They have a staffing issue and worst yet no management skills. This place is AMAZING! Amazing food! AMAZING view! I can't believe the high quality meals they serve up for such fair pricing. The view is gorgeous. Take note of the beautiful herb garden where you will see chefs picking fresh herbs during the summer. They always start your dinner with an amuse-bouche and usually will give you a palate cleanser such as sorbetto between salad and entree. They make delicious vinaigrettes, the mustard truffle is my favorite but the walnut is good too. They bake their bread themselves and you will get a choice of delightful options. I know it's a small detail but they also allow you to pick between having cucumber, lemon and lime in your water. The entree's are really good. I loved the tenderloin, and many fish options I have tried. The potatoes on the side are not something I usually gush over but their roasted potatoes are quite the treat. You can't go wrong with their dessert either. They make the ice cream in house. This is a MUST vist when in the area! read more
