Vanilla mini milkshake!

Reviewing an oldie but a goodie. Went to outback to celebrate a family birthday last week and had a very solid experience. We had excellent service. Our server was attentive and friendly, and struck the perfect balance between professional but approachable. I also really like the front of house manager here. If anything goes wrong, he is quick to resolve any issues with a positive and apologetic attitude. Everyone's steaks were cooked perfectly at the table, and I heard very few food criticisms the entire evening. The only thing I would comment on is the texture of the lobster I ordered. I've never tried lobster at Outback before and probably wouldn't get it again. It wasn't bad, but it was a bit rubbery . Love the free birthday sundae they give out, always a nice sweet ending to the meal.

I love this place! The staff is super nice, and the host greeted us right away- and even opened the door for us! There is a large waiting area with plenty of seating, fortunately we were seated instantly, even on a busy Friday night. They have a refreshing strawberry lemonade. The bloomin' onion was crispy and hot. The sauce is horseradish-y. I got a side of ranch because they have the best ranch. But of course, I had to have steak and coconut shrimp for the main dish! They can cook a steak perfectly every time. We left full, and I can't wait to come back.

What's left of my sirloin and grilled shrimp!

Last minute date night decision to use a gift card from 2023 (we're pretty bad at using them). Wonderful experience as soon as we walked in. The host was smiling and friendly and our server Alex was kind and very attentive to us. I had the 8oz sirloin with grilled shrimp and it was cooked perfectly between medium and medium well. My loaded baked potato wasn't so loaded so Alex was quick to bring a saucer of all the fixings. My husband had the ribeye which was a bit fatty but then fat happens with ribeyes. Great service great food and oh my gosh they have the best ranch dressing!

Brooke & Megan took great care of us. Our steaks & drinks were perfect and everything was fresh & delicious!! Definitely recommend!!

yummy food

I'm glad to see it was very busy and the food was delicious. However, the cleaning job disappointed. Steak and fries were throughout the isles of the booths and tables did not get cleaned for a good amount of time. The young people that worked there seemed very unprofessional and like they didn't want to be there. However my server ( young girl with dark hair and gold earrings) was very sweet and accommodating.

Walked in at 3:45 pm today. Sat us in bar area. Manager, staff around us. Only one other table in bar area. After 15 minutes of sitting with not one person stopping by to welcome us or ask if we needed anything. Manager and staff right behind. Not one work when we walked out. Very disappointing as we just starting coming back.

Tried 3 different oysters- delicious. Finally got the scallops as an entree and they were some of the best I've ever had, plated over a thick cut of pork belly. They definitely have/had some pretty high prices compared to other eateries in the area. I'm not sure if that is caused by cost of goods or location or what, but I think that did come into play when a lot of economic hardship is happening all over. Like I mentioned above, I DID like their food, but it definitely had to be a special occasion type of thing, due to the high prices. When we did go, I LOVED the Maryland Crab Dip. It reminded me of my favorite crab dip in the world, at the SweetWater Brewing Company in Atlanta. We also had the Green Bean Almandine that was on special last time we went and that was pretty good, but you have to be a green bean fan, for sure. I decided to try the sushi as my main dish last time, and had the Everything Crunch Maki, which consisted of cooked salmon, jalapeño, and cream cheese. It was pretty good, and had a little hint of spice to it from the jalapeño, which cut the heavy cream aspect. My husband had the Grilled Atlantic Salmon for his entree, and gave me a few bites. It was cooked well and the mushroom risotto below it was very flavorful and filling. The cute nautical ambiance and excellent service were always appreciated, so no complaints there either. I think if they had been in a different area with less expensive rent and cost of goods, I may have visited more often.

Most of the highlight was the various types of burgers and fries they had, so my partner and I got two kinds, and we both enjoyed our respective meals. I had the block burger, which was as good as I imagined it to be, with juicy patty cooked to medium and every ingredient needed to make a good burger. The poutine had a lot of beef gravy and cheese curds, which made the dish a comprehensive experience to consume, rather than just fries. The duck duck goose fries were amazing! The duck confit, cheese curds, mayo, gravy, and gooseberry gastrique combination worked super well on top of the fries, because they altogether basically made it a gourmet dish that I had to eat with a fork. Finally, the sloppy nick was seasoned very well, even if we got the vegan version, which used impossible meat instead of ground beef. It was still really great! Hope everyone who visits Omaha gets to try this spot! Their wall has quite a few articles that recognized them as a locally renowned burger joint, and I could see why. Since they can be busy, I would recommend people getting there earlier to secure a good table spot, if dining in.

For starters, we had the bacon-wrapped shrimp, which came with mushrooms on the side. It didn't look particularly appetizing when it arrived, but it was absolutely delicious. The mushrooms were especially good--salty without being overpowering, which I really enjoyed. To drink, I tried the sangria. It didn't particularly stand out, but it was still enjoyable. For my entrée, I chose the whiskey ribeye cooked medium-rare, and it came out exactly how I like it. The steak was cooked perfectly and was very flavorful. The salad bar wasn't huge, but it had a nice variety of toppings to choose from. The atmosphere is rustic with very dim lighting, and there were a few TVs throughout the restaurant as well. It does get quite loud when it's busy, though. Our waitstaff was attentive without being overbearing, which I appreciated. Overall, it was a good experience, and I will definitely be back.

But I'm not a huge fan. First, it's really, really dark and really, really noisy. Not a place for a conversation, especially if you are dining with kids. The salad bar is, well, meh. The tastiest part is the super sweet poppy seed dressing. As far as the stars of the show go, I've eaten several of their steaks. They've all been well marinaded and perfectly cooked, but the ribeye and strip had a lot of exterior gristle that should have been trimmed off before grilling. Meals come with a baked potato, and other sides are available. I wish creamed spinach and corn were options (it is the Cornhusker state, after all), but those are just my preferences. We made reservations weeks ago (we knew the College World Series would be in town) so we did not have the 2+ hour wait that less organized folks were complaining about. We were seated right away - yay, OpenTable! Service was very attentive, and our meal's timing was impeccable. Omaha has a lot of choices for carnivores, and The Drover is a long way from the worst I've tried. I'm just not not sure it's where I'll get my steak fix in the future.

Friendly service, comfy setting, and oh yeah - the food! Unfortunately for me, there is too much seafood on the menu but there's always something. People rave about the seafood dishes so I'll trust them and say it must be good. I'm just not into it. On this visit, we each ordered a cocktail. I decided to try the lemon martini which I never order and OH MY GOODNESS. It was awesome! They nailed it. The limoncello brought it home. My dining partner had a dirty martini and was satisfied as well. We enjoyed a Spezia salad which featured mixed greens, prosciutto, tomato, Kalamata olives, and a house vinaigrette. It all combined so well. The lettuce was wonderfully fresh, no need to pick out rotting leaves like some places. The dressing was simply light and delish. We shared a plate of spaghetti. You get several options to add to it. The grilled spicy Italian sausage sounded good. I'm not sure which was better. The sausage or the marinara sauce. Both were soooooo good!! The sausage was truly grilled and spicy and just amazing, and it was not greasy either. The marinara sauce challenged my own that I make at home. My favorite pasta is similar to a Cajun cream sauce, with the perfect balance of flavors and they definitely do not skimp on the chicken. My kids love the complimentary bread and always order the salmon pasta. This was a business dinner with colleagues. We started at the bar and the bartender was great. Seating is comfy and the décor is very nice. They offer all the top shelf spirits you might want that area mainstream. The bartender was able to do anything you want with them. The food offered there is the full menu, so we started with some onion rings to nosh on while drinking. Those onion rings were very interesting, with a thicker dough-style breading, they were very good. Next was to sit down for dinner and I apologize for forgetting our server's name, but he's been there about 15 years and he was great! Perfect amount of attention to our party, great pace, great suggestions too. The menu was tough, as there were several options, so I asked him to choose for me - he did a nice job. Wine service was great... Food was excellent! It's been a minute since having a nice prime rib, so that's what I went with and this was one of the best ever... it melted in my mouth! Their bacon appetizer was unbelievably good! Smokey, tender, and so much flavor... WOW! We definitely enjoyed our dinner here. Wine list offers great selection of options VIP treatment for a special occasion. Where it fell apart were several food items. What was delicious: hash browns (outstanding), green beans, creamed corn, sourdough bread, What was subpar: Beef tartare--probably one of the worst I've ever eaten. Took one bite, it was stringy. Hoped I didn't get sick. Unpleasant texture. Not mixed tableside, we mixed the raw egg into the dish ourselves. Three steaks were severely undercooked. My steak (bone in filet special) was MR, I asked for MW. It tasted as if it was marinated low quality beef, chewy, difficult to cut, (yes, this filet was not easy to cut with a quality steak knife), odd texture. colleagues steak was basically raw (appeared bloody red)--he'd requested MR, sent it back to kitchen twice! Another colleagues steak was very Rare. Steaks were really disappointing as was the preparation. Our party of five was surprised when the steak was returned still undercooked. Considering the quality of my bone in filet steak and the undercooked steaks, I won't return to this location. There's a kitchen issue that needs to be resolved and the manager when that steak was recooked for second time should have observed it was still very rare when he delivered it because our table of five all did. Less than stellar experience due to the subpar beef tartare and steaks.
