RED LOBSTER DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER: Read to the end, the review is not what it might seem! THE ATMOSPHERE: The very first thing we noticed was that the restaurant was empty and there was no server to greet us. When someone arrived they told us "sorry for the wait, we only have 2 servers." That's when I discovered the bar was empty, probably because there was no bartender either. It made us wonder about the kitchen staff? The "greeter," who I'm pretty sure was also the Manager, told us that we'd need to wait about 15 minutes because she didn't want to seat us and then get bad service; after which, she went away to clean a table. While we waited, the foyer filled up with people who were asking the same questions we were... (1) It's Sunday @ Noon, Rush Hour, where's the staff? (2) How can Red Lobster survive like this? (3) How can Red Lobster maintain healthy standards for cleanliness when there's no wait staff much less general restaurant staff for cleaning? CLEANLINESS: In as much as cleanliness was concerned, the restaurant and bar were clean, even the men's restroom was clean, but then, they barely had any customers present yet. This made me question what state the place will be in towards the middle of a rush, or at the end, when they clearly weren't prepared for a rush in the first place? Is it even safe to eat at a place that is clearly not prepared to clean or sanitize, much less take orders? FOOD: To start our order, they were out of chocolate syrup to make chocolate milk for our grandson, but he had Apple Juice instead, which arguably is a better choice anyway. The biscuits were very tasty, as always, which is to be expected because they are the de facto standard for garlic biscuits. Everybody loves and expects them at Red Lobster. My wife had shrimp two ways, I had endless shrimp, my grandson had chicken strips. All of it, from the biscuits, to the salad, to the entrees, looked tasty, and were cooked to perfection, hot and delicious. THE SERVICE: Our server was Madilyn, she apologized multiple times for the "wait," to which I said, "what wait?" The truth is, there was no delay in service; in fact, despite the short staff issue, she's one of the fastest and best servers I've ever had... bar none! She offered refills on the endless shrimp, and it arrived right on time, hot and tasty! Our server had nothing to apologize for because she did an extraordinary job. THE MANAGEMENT: I would have loved to have said thank you to the Manager, but she was busy greeting diners, seating diners, and bussing tables. To be clear, I'm positive she would have talked with me, but I just couldn't take up her time for this, so I gave a quick message to another waitress for her. All things considered, I'd say this place is managed extraordinary well, especially considering the staffing challenges! By the time we left, there were a couple more waitresses, but that didn't change the incredible job this manager was doing, she just kept helping and supporting her staff! What a great Manager she is indeed! It reminded me of something I already knew, a great manager can make a good restaurant an extraordinary one. The Manager makes all the difference in the world. WHAT'S THE MAIN ISSUE HERE? (1) There's not enough workers in Omaha to staff all our businesses? (2) The current generation is lazy and simply doesn't want work? (3) Red Lobster as a company and/or local management is a nightmare to work for so they can't keep employees? (4) Red Lobster wages are so low they can't keep or recruit qualified labor? (5) All the prospective employees chose to honor God, like the Bible instructed us to do by keeping the Sabbath, so they went to Church instead? CONCLUSION: Being an eternal optimist, I sincerely hope it's #5 because I'd hate to see the long standing tradition of Red Lobster fall by the wayside and close! I'm of the opinion that all our local businesses are facing the same challenges this one is. If you want to enjoy great local dining, then we must take an interest in supporting them in a positive way! Even the most stoic of people tend to respond to friendliness, I consider it a challenge to "turn" the hapless wait staff into a real person, even if just for the moment. To that end, I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone, for any occasion, at any time, and I hope those of you who live near Red Lobster, will continue to support and patronize it. Remember, people tend to be quick to criticize and slow to say "Thank You!" Let's all make an effort to reverse this societal trend. From someone who started in the restaurant business as a Steakhouse manger, may I say "Don't be that person!" Support your local businesses, lest they all disappear, and remember... I hadn't been to Red Lobster in years, but we decided to go because it was one of my grandpa's favorite places. I was really tempted to order one of the seafood boils I keep seeing all over social media, but I just couldn't justify the price this time. Instead, I ordered the shrimp trio with bang bang, coconut, and grilled shrimp. The coconut shrimp and grilled shrimp were my favorites, both had great flavor. Wanted to give Red Lobster a try since we haven't been in some years. We started out with the stuffed mushrooms. They had a seafood topping with Monterey Jack cheese. They came out quickly, were hot, and tasted the same as I remembered. I would have loved more sauce on them. I had the Mariner's Seafood Boil. It came with a Maine lobster tail, a dozen shrimp, snow crab legs, corn, and red potatoes. I opted to have the RL signature butter at the extra-hot spicy level. I will say it was definitely spicy, but the spice only seemed to be on the surface. The actual shrimp, crab legs, corn, and potatoes had no seasoning. It was a very weird experience because you could taste how spicy it was, but once you bit into the food, it was bland. The waitress was attentive, but the service was slow. We were warned that the kitchen was behind, so it was fine with us. We understood it was a Friday night and had nowhere to be. Overall, we wouldn't be back anytime soon. There are many other local restaurants where you can get a very tasty seafood boil for basically the same price, with so much more flavor. read more

We ordered curbside WALTS SHRIMP today and what a disappointment it was, We only got 22 shrimp instead of the 24 we have always gotten except when you used to get 28. The shrimp were so much smaller than they have ever been through the years and definitely not hot and fresh, definitely reheated. The cheddar bay biscuits have been rewarmed too many times and so heavily salted they were inedible. The shrimp sauce was discolored like maybe too watered down to be any good. read more

This has been our "go to" spot for special occasions for decades. It started when they were about the only place to get good seafood. Although the restaurant holds lots of memories, the food, menu, and pricing have not held fond ones. The food has stayed pretty consistent however other restaurants offer many more creative options rather than a lot of pre-made, cookie cutter recipes, and fried food options. The side offerings have reduced with many having a "premium " up charge". Prices have risen to match our economy which I understand, but really don't compare or compete with the non-chain restaurants that offer seafood dishes. There's never a line to get in. It's sad to see how much popularity this restaurant has declined. I want to keep giving them love but really considering finding and building new memories at other places. This review is mainly for our server Christina! She was amazing! She was prompt. She was kind and she was polite. Just listening to her interact with her other customers you can tell that she genuinely enjoys her job and she cares about the people she serves. She even took a lobster out of the tank for my toddler to see it was a very cool experience. She is the true definition of what good customer service looks like. She was patient when we were indecisive about what we wanted. She explained things she wasn't upset when I sent something back. Red Lobster is good for groups. They can generally seat a large party quickly and manage orders easily no matter the location. The food quality does seem a bit less than it used to be, the shrimp scampi is not as rich and the lobster tails are often small. I have passed by this Red Lobster for years and never considered dining there until today. I was surprised how spacious this location is, off of 144th and Center Road. We were seated promptly and service was decent from the start to end. I ordered the conservative "Fish and Chips". I liked the style of bread brought out early into the meal. The breading was a bit too much, in my opinion for my dish. I did like the creamy style Cole slaw though. The server suggested the Fish and Chips over the Chicken pasta and I would agree that was the best choice today. Red Lobster gets a lot of flack for being a chain restaurant. We decided to stop in because we were craving seafood. We were seated right away. The servers were wearing masks. Went in last Friday to have dinner with a friend. After trying to decide between a couple of options I went with the Salmon New Orleans with brocolli and lobster mashed potatoes as my sides. The salad and main dish were good, but I'm not sure the lobster mashed potatoes were worth the upcharge I paid (small $, but not obsessed with it). We visited here last night and got here early at about 5:15. Good thing because when we left at 6:20, there was a line out the door. First, we were seated right away and the waiter promptly took our drink and appetizer order. The complimentary buttery biscuits are so good. They have some kind of delicious seasoning and have a nice crispy crust. The salads were very fresh and we never had to ask to have our drinks refilled. Chose a fresh lobster instead and it was so bad that I couldn't eat it. The meat was slimy and there was literally no taste. I have never had a lobster that tasted like this. We got the family crab linguini takeout meal and it was fantastic! It was supposed to be for 4 people, but my boyfriend and I finished it all it was so good! We just had to warm up the biscuits again but they were soft and flavorful. My only thing to improve would be the takeout Tupperware. The pasta is very creamy and if it wasn't bagged, butter and sauce would have gotten everywhere as it seeped through the box. My boyfriend picked up the food after work so we guessed what time to have it ready. I usually only go to Red Lobster during Endless Shrimp. About $16 gets you all the shrimp you can eat, prepared 5 or 6 different ways, and it's always wonderful, especially the shrimp fettuccine alfredo. They also offer unlimited cheese biscuits; they're so good it's hard not to fill up on biscuits before your shrimp arrive. The staff is extremely friendly and VERY attentive. I recently tried their Bar Harbor Lobster Bake and it was delish!! I'm planning on getting it again on my next visit. The clams, lobster , scallops and shrimp were plentiful and yummy. Pasta was lightly seasoned and was a good balance alongside the crustaceans. Of course, the salad was fresh as usual and dinner rolls hot out the oven, Yum! It looks like they have new decor and it's a nice improvement. Waiter was also very polite and made the evening pleasant.
