My entire, however, took longer than it should and was subpar at best. My family and I went to this establishment for an early Father's Day dinner since it's my dad's favorite place. After this last experience, we will most likely not return to this location. The portions keep shrinking every year and paying over $130 for subpar food and service is not ideal. Our server was rarely around for assistance or to give us the check. Our appetizer arrived before our drinks (waters, y'all), we had to remind the server for bread after waiting a while. They did not communicate the one item my parents wanted was out of stock til it was time to order. The kicker was waiting for the check for 20+ minutes while I was having an allergic reaction to my entree. I even locked eyes with (what I presume) one of the managers multiple times while he assisted another table with a complaint because I was in distress. My father was walking up to the hostess to assist us, when our server finally arrived back to take our card. They passed me the card machine and walked away without even leaving a pen to sign the receipt (I had to walk to the bar for a pen). It's a chain and I'll admit I was not jazzed that the family wanted to dine here. However.......wrong was I. We arrived a little early, the parking lot was packed and I was a little nervous on a Friday at 7pm. Not too many people waiting inside though and I saw lots of open tables. Okay I thought. I let the hostesses know that there would be 6 1/2 of us, her eyes got big and she changed it to 7. Our entire party had not arrived, so it gave them time to create a table for us. I thought it was nice that the server asked if we wanted a high chair or if we would be using the stroller. Since my daughter in law, said the stroller would be easier, they instructed her the best place for her to sit at the table and position the stroller so it wouldn't interfere with guests or servers. Ashley brought hot bread and took drink orders. We choose the fried crawfish bites and coconut shrimp to start and ordered our meals. The crawfish bites were piled high and the kids raved about them. The server made a mistake and brought grilled shrimp instead (I understood the mix up and she did offer to get our correct order. I told her it was fine and we were chill people). We're all islanders, half from the pacific and half from the Caribbean. Salt water is in our veins, we eat all kinds of Seafood in all ways. Everyone enjoyed the smokey taste. Our baby even chowed down on some micro pieces and cried when we tried to switch him to softened bread. We ordered steaks, surf and turf, hamburgers and lobster tails. My bone in steak was perfectly cooked and ginormous. So big that I took half home. The kids had their desserts and based on their reactions, we ordered a couple extra pieces of cheesecake for the Pirate and his Daughter. The bill came to 299$ for 6 people, the adults all had a couple drinks and 5 of them ordered desserts. Not bad, but not cheap at 50$ per person average, especially when 2 were under 12 years old. I happily gave Ashley a 20% tip because she was really a great server. Pleasant, cheerful and around but not hovering. The best kind of server indeed. I imagine sadly that people who frequent this westbank location do often leave generous tips. She deserved every bit of our monetary appreciation. Fun fact: This used to be a Fudruckers and Lil John (me not the rapper) used to love eating here with his parents. I found myself in Marerro a few weeks ago at lunchtime. I was waiting to pickup a car nearby and figured Outback would be a quick lunch. Eating lunch at Outback seemed significantly different than eating at dinner. During dinner they seem to have their stuff together and it's normally one of the best, if not the best, of the budget steak chains. During lunch service was friendly, but something was missing. Maybe they staff new servers during the day because service was kind of off. I really wanted to get a steak but figured that would be slightly too boujie for a work lunch. Instead, I opted for a burger. It wasn't the best burger I've ever had but it was juicy and cooked appropriately. In closing, if you're in Marrero and want a decent lunch and want to avoid the other chains, Outback may fit the bill. read more

The night before my day off, I thought about the bloomin' onion that I haven't had in a long time. While in bed, I looked over Outback's menu to see what I wanted to order for lunch. I came across the bloomin' fried chicken and smiled. Fast forward, I ordered the lunch bloomin' fried chicken with Aussie fries and the bloomin' onion on the website. I pulled up and around the time my order was supposed to be ready, a server came out and asked who I was picking up for. It only took a minute for him to go in and come back with my order. Piping hot, order correct, utensils, bread, all that. Positives: the bloomin' fried chicken was really good to say it was a lunch sized portion. The Aussie fries were good as well, but I'd rather the bacon bits be blended with the melted cheese instead of sprinkled on top. All of the bacon fell to the bottom of the foil. Darn. Negative: The bloomin' onion was tasty for the most part, but getting to the middle of it was mushy, partly fried batter. It was a bit of a turn off so I left some for the next day. I was told my food was ready before my boyfriends which was already a red flag because now my food would either come out cold or be put in the microwave. Then five minutes later we were told it would be another 15 minute wait, which she then proceeded immediately bring our food out? Makes no sense. I ordered a loaded baked potato as shown in the picture and there was no sour cream on mine but a ton on my boyfriends. Lastly my entree was a sirloin with grilled shrimp and 2 sides the grilled shrimp was literally freezing cold and so so soooo chewy.
