I finally made my way to Fogo de Chão in New Orleans for an evening out with my sons. We had a 7:45 reservation and were seated within about 10 minutes, so that was a good start. Of course, we selected the Full Churrasco Experience and enjoyed it for the most part. At first, the meats were coming out pretty slow, but after a while they definitely started to flow. The winner for me was the lamb chops! Some of the cuts were a little thicker than I prefer, but overall, those lamb chops were the BEST. The flank steak was also really good, along with the garlic steak. I definitely was NOT a fan of the lamb steak, though. I also tried the fried pineapple, and surprisingly, it was really good! My son tried the fried cheese with honey and really enjoyed it. As far as the Market Table, it's pretty much a variety of veggies, meats, cheeses, and other items that give you an oversized charcuterie board effect. There was plenty to choose from. The staff was really nice and welcoming. Whenever we noticed a certain meat wasn't making its way around to our table, we mentioned it, and they accommodated us pretty quickly, which I appreciated. Overall, I'm willing to give them another try. We were enjoying the food so much that sadly, we didn't take any pictures! But overall, everything was good, the service was welcoming, and those lamb chops alone might get me back through the door! read more

Everything was great. Hostess was friendly. Our server, Teddy, was one of the best we have encountered in a while. He was friendly, personable, funny and very attentive. This is something that can't be taught. Hats off to him for being great! We also observed him with the other guest. The food, as usual, was good. We had about 2 steaks that weren't that good. One like raw almost, real bloody and rubbery. I love a medium/med rare steak, but this was way too much. The other was dry, had to be well done, but really dry. Everything else was great! I came here twice in one day and had two different experiences. The first visit was earlier in the day around three pm. I ordered saucy legs and a golden rush, saucy legs were delicious and the golden rush is a great tasting drink. I came back again later in the evening and ordered the crab cake which was amazing. My sister ordered saucy legs and what came out was nothing compared to the saucy legs I received earlier. Her saucy legs had more spices, chives, and red peppers, see pics for the difference in food plated. The food here is good, the service earlier in the day was better than later in the day. The ambiance is nice, I would constantly suggest this dish establishment tor their all day happy hour alone. The cheesecake is fried and it's pretty good. read more

The ambiance was pleasant, calm, clean and nice. We enjoyed the bar that had many fruits, cheeses, vegetables, soups and salads to choose from. The meats, if you get the full Churrasco experience, keep coming until you say stop. We tried lamb chops, top sirloin, bacon wrapped steak and Chicken, and filet mignon. This was my first time visit here. It is located on Canal Street snd connected to the JW Hyatt hotel so you have to find alternative parking. We parked in the Hyatt parking garage. We were invited here for a surprise party for one of our friends. We had a private room in a back with about thirty people. We had regular service like you normally would get in the dining room. The staff did an excellent job of keeping our plates full and our drink glasses also. If I remember correctly one of my severs was Teddy he did a great job for our table. My first trip to NOLA with a group of friends as well as my first time to FOGO. I had/have not read any other reviews** I've eaten at a Brazilian steakhouse before so I had a reference of what to expect but here are my pros/cons with this specific experience(full churrasco).. Pros: The meats and sides were very delicious and lots of variety with the meats that were served(4/5 stars). A/C was on and felt great in the hot summer night weather. Servers were kind but the service?? Cons: Service itself was HORRIBLE. I think in an upscale restaurant, diners should not be asked to go retrieve any of their meal so this is more of an expectation issue(the buffet part was more like Sizzlers & that quality was maybe 3/5stars) The meat of the problem? My group was over 10ppl and when the meats were being served, they started at 1 end of the table every time. So my friends at the other end had 4 different meats on plate while my end of the table had empty plates and nothing offered. I asked the server why and they said "because that end is closer." As if serving our end of the table wasn't worth walking 5-10 extra steps??! I'm not sure how much time passed until we were finally offered food. NEXT, the sides/apps.. weren't brought to our table until maybe an hour or so into the experience. I had finished most of my meats before mash potatoes were ever placed on the table. I saw cheese bread placed at the "closer" end of the table a little after that and asked a server to bring us some. At least another 10-15min past and water was brought to the table but not the bread. I asked a different server and it may have been another 15min and then the bread was brought to us. Tasted great tho. THE BATHROOM.. in such a sizable restaurant, having a 1 stall/personal ladies room is CRAZY. But it's okay I waited in line behind a lady with her kids. About 10min later she came out saying something like "it wasn't us" idk. I walked in. Pee ALL OVER THE FLOOR under the toilet and pee all over the top of the toilet. I'm not standing in pee to hover over a pissed on toilet! I had to walk down the hallways to the JW hotel lobby bathroom(maybe 30 yards away) which was like night and day. Multiple stalls, fairly clean. Lastly.. getting out of there?? We had individual checks so I understood it would take a lil while to get it sorted. I wasn't timing our hostess but I'd guess it took about 1hour to get and bring back the first batch of checks. Sometime during that, myself and the last person got our bills and waited to pay. Handed ours over next and waited maybe another 15min. Now that AC that felt great before had me shivering from sitting and waiting. We aren't the dine n dash types but it was inspiring that kind of behavior. Overall based on the service even though we were treated with kindness, I would not go again. My friend and I have been dining here for years. Get get the full experience and at least 2 bottles of wine. Normally we do a late lunch and stay for at least 90 minutes. This time we did a 3pm first dinner seating. To say it bluntly "Worst" ever. We started this tradition in 2006, only white linen. Mainly in the CBD and the French Quarters. The restaurant had two tables and it took us 10 minutes to be seated. I always wash my hands and the restroom was dirty and so was the restaurant. I went to the beans and sausage stew and candied bacon station. You can smell the burnt beans even before I opened the pot. The rice had dried up and the bacon was cold. I quietly call out to the passing waiter to tell him about it and he looked at me with disdain. Normally by the time I would get back to the table the sides(mashed potatoes, plantains and yucca fries) would be at the table. I asked the same waiter for them and they arrived as if they were in the kitchen sitting on the counter. I tried several times to get his attention to replace them but he acted like he couldn't hear me from 8 feet away. The manager was passing by so I signalled her and she replaced them. The waiter said less than 7 words for the hour we were there. He never asked how we were doing nor picked up our dirty plates. Our bill was over $300 and we tipped him 20%. Usually we tip at least 40% because the waitstaff and manager at any restaurant we go to enjoy us as well we enjoy them. This was the worse experience EVER. read more

What a unique concept! Fill your plate with non stop delicious meat. If you are a carnivore diet person this is your place. Tip: I can't eat that much in a sitting so I ordered off appetizers I got lamb chop lollipops phenomenal and filet bite slices which were also excellent. My husband got the whole shebang. Sssh as the spouse it was pretty easy to enjoy some if his plate. It is really endless takes done will power to put your stop card on table as the meat is so excellent and perfectly cooked. New Year's Eve Dinner with amazing friends. The winner was the Garlic Steak, Parmesan Pork and Rack of Lamb. But the real MVP was our hilarious server Mitilde. She was friendly, efficient and just had a great attitude and jokes - the girl got jokes. We all really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and of course, the meats!! My friend also said the ginger soup from the salad bar was delicious. I am a big fan of the little red chili peppers and roasted garlic (also at the salad bar). Perfect with the picanha steak! We really have loved fogo de Chao experience in the past so we excited to bring a group of 11 for a dinner celebration. We did not realize it would become the worst dining experiences we ever had. We all arrived on time and were seated . Orders were taken. We all chose a meat dish except for two people. One person that ordered sea bass (trying to avoid red meat) and one vegetarian that ordered baked cauliflower. We were told that the market bar was included in our dish and it will be endless meat of our choice by just flipping the card at the table. The server will come meat to carve at the table. There was also suppose to be cheese bread and banana flambee. We grabbed a dish of the market bar which was decent... but the nightmare began... The server that was supposed to to bring various meat came one time only for the people who ordered picanha. The person who ordered lamp champ did not get any service until an hour into the dinner. The cheese bread also was not available (still in the oven till over an hour and half into dinner..) The person who ordered the sea bass (who avoids eating red meat) got the sea bass almost an hour into the meal. The outside looked beautifully baked but when he cut into the piece, it was translucently raw and cold in the middle.... He decided to change to chicken since he is now super hunger.. Another 40 mins later.. despite asking the server more couple time, the chicken never showed up.... I left the meal with only 2 slices of the meat since they only came once.... They said they should be coming 'soon'.... We asked for the server to speak to the manager. When we got the bill, instead of removing both the fish and chicken dish that we never received, the manager gave us a 'discount'.. since the person had the 'salad bar'!!! It was the worst service, food, and overall experience we ever had. We have been to many Fogo de Chao's. Would not recommend anyone to come to this location. Even though we shared our experience during the meal, the service never changed and the food ever arrived. The manger never apologized nor offered us any discount on all the other orders despite the fact the unlimited table side meat carving experience came "ONCE". My wife and I had Christmas dinner at this location. On the Plus side, the service was exceptional. There were a wide variety of meats, continuously circulating, and everyone was very attentive. Also, the decor, lighting, and music were all very pleasant. On the negative, all the sides were bland and without much taste. We didn't care for any of them. So that meant the two of us spent about $200 just for cuts of meat. It's too expensive given that the only thing we ended up eating and enjoying was the meat itself. So we ate here for our Thanksgiving meal-the food and service were great! The location is a little small though. Theres upstairs and downstairs but the downstairs area where we were seated was tight. Lots of squeezing by people and things. The meats kept coming in steady rotation even when our cards were flipped to red lol. The sirloin and parmesan pork were my favorite. We chose this place because it was in same building as our hotel and had decent reviews. I've been to Brazilian steakhouses before and they have been inconsistent. However, I didn't want creole, wanted to stay close and just relax and have a nice meal. The salad bar from the Yelp pictures looked good and that was what I was looking forward to. Looks can be deceiving. When we were seated and ordered our food we immediately went to the salad bar. Unfortunately they were still preparing the bar. The fresh produce wasn't out yet. They had most of the premade food which wasn't fresh at all and most likely made the day before. I grabbed a piece of bread and it was as hard as a rock, obviously was out from lunchtime and wasn't properly stored. I grabbed some potato salad and corn salad and premixed Cesar which tasted like they made that in the morning and put out the leftovers for dinner. The meat skewers offered were okay as far as seasoning but the quality of meat was not that great. This meal was about $200 after two drinks and tip. The service was good. We came with a large corporate group. Note that the group price was $100/head which included a dessert. They wanted to bombard us with the cheaper cuts. Within the first 10 minutes of sitting down, my colleagues and I requested ribeye and tenderloin. It didn't come out, so we reminded them. We had to keep giving them these reminders every 10 minutes until finally -- roughly ONE HOUR after sitting down-- they brought what they described as "ribeye." It had barely any fat on it and tasted rough and chewy like a sirloin. I'm convinced it was a bait and switch. Then, as some of my colleagues were already ordering desserts, the filet finally arrived. Other typical cuts were also missing, like bacon wrapped chicken and steak. There is no excuse whatsoever for nickel and diming people like this. They advertise these cuts, and it is important that they deliver. Otherwise, they need a disclaimer that says "We might give you some filet and ribeye...when we feel like it!!" Be careful if you are expecting a truly gourmet experience. But every now and then you feel the need for a fresh salad and all the advantages of a good salad bar - Fogo de Chão at the JW Marriott on Canal St more than fulfills this need. But that's just the start... The bar includes varieties of cheese, prepared salads (bean, potato, Caesar, etc.) along with black beans & rice. You can order this as your entree, skipping the usual Brazilian steak option. But the star on the night of our visit was definitely Fern the bartender. We were in town for the French Quarter Festival (incredible) and were staying at the JW (highly recommend) and went to Fogo for the salad bar. Our seating choice is the bar and on this night, dinner came with entertainment - Fern! From the moment we sat down, Fern had us laughing. Her energy was amazing and her sense of humor drew you right in. There were about 8 of us that were just cracking up while enjoying our dinner. The salad offerings were fresh and replenished as needed. The black beans are slow cooked and delicious. And Fern's entertainment made for an excellent dessert. I've eaten at a number of Brazilian steakhouses both private and chain and Fogo is always talked about as being one of the best. Our table staff were ok and stayed on top of drinks acceptably well; but the rodizio was very slow to come out and almost all the beef that came out was well done instead of medium. It was barely seasoned at all. I had a caipirinha that was not well made, and the sangria was extremely bitter and hard to drink. For the cost I would not come back to Fogo for such poorly cooked meats. read more

They were at least 1 hour behind on RESERVATIONS, and there was complete chaos outside and in the lobby. I felt bad for the staff, but there was no communication with anyone. Very poor management, and zero leadership. The chaos was confusing, which means nobody knew what was going on, which means tensions were high and people were startimg to take it out om each other and the staff. Afterbwaiting for about 30 terrible minutes, I went to check om our place in line, and it was still going to be an hour... even with a reservation! We were very disappointed with our experience at Fogo de Chão. I made a reservation for 14 people for Monday night, expecting the level of quality the restaurant is known for. Unfortunately, the buffet food appeared old, and many of the items looked like they might have been left over from Sunday. The salads did not look fresh, and most of our group didn't even want to try them. Throughout the entire evening, the servers brought meat to our table only about 4-5 times. All of the cuts were well done, and it honestly felt like the meat had been reheated leftovers rather than freshly prepared. We have visited Fogo de Chão many times in different cities, but this was by far the worst experience we have had. For the amount we paid, I could have taken my guests to a very good steakhouse and received much better quality and service. This was extremely disappointing. read more

Most of us in NOLA are not big into chains and especially this close to the French Quarter but for a chain this place fills a niche that they do well at. This is definitely one of the main spots to eat mass quantities of meat in the NOLA region and is the best example we currently have of the Brazilian style steakhouse genre. Service can be over the top with being so attentive and frequent that it becomes nearly intrusive with going overboard with changing your plate out far too many times. If they pull back on the aggressive plate changing the service experience would be at a great level. I find the meat to be acceptable but on average trends towards too overly well done for my liking and they do attempt to accommodate your level of preference. The meat is brought at regular intervals but the servings were on the small sides at times. The food bar contains a decent selection of items if you want to expand your feasting beyond the carnivore realm and they have even more meat on that in the guise of salmon and ham. It is fairly priced during lunch while a bit on the pricey side at dinner and overall I think I would generally just prefer a nice steak but this establishment does have its moments when you are just in the mood for some debauched gluttony of meat. They also have a great 50% off the churrasco experience for veterans on Veterans Day that I've enjoyed and I really appreciate their support of veterans!
