Friday afternoon. Mediocre bartender. Slow and inattentive. I suspect management is on a downhill slide...

Great meal and service. In town on business and ate at the bar. Food was as good as outback gets.

Do not go through the Drive through 3 out of 4 trips have been totally messed up. The only reason that the 1 good meal was that they had my name and were extra careful. Tonight the steaks where "well done", not medium rare, and very dry and tough. The bread was just thrown into the sack not in a bread sleeve, turned out that the bread was like a brick and dry out. On top of that the meal was ordered at 5:55PM and it was supposed to be ready at 6:15PM (20 minutes), waited an additional 25 minutes till about 6:45 PM. I have called the night manager Tory and explained the situation to him and also asked the owner name and will follow up with the owner and corporate office. The only way this is going to change if Outback starts loosing business and revenue. read more

This is a great steakhouse. While a member of a national chain, they make you feel like you are family and right at home. The food is excellent and the service is great. I would gladly recommend it to anyone. read more

Terrible service. Front of house was a complete disaster. Inattentive, distracted & careless waitress. Waited nearly 10 minutes for drinks, left a meal off when the food was brought out and just a lack of organization. The steak wasn't bad - deserving of a better rating if you can get past the terrible wait staff and management. If you're coming to eat here then bring your patience, you'll need it. read more

I'm not a fan of chains, but Outback is one I actually like...so I decided to try this location again since I read about new management. I visited the location in 2017 and had the worst meal I've ever experienced at an Outback. The "medium rare" steak was so well done that it had no flavor. And the quality of the cut of the meat was obviously subpar. They tried to comp my meal but I wouldn't do that. If I complain, it's not to get something for free. So tonight I went back. First, they didn't offer the bread so I asked for it. Sorry, they were out. It was 5:30 pm...ok. Then I get my salad, which, unless requested to come out with the meal, should arrive ahead of the main course. One bite into the salad and my steak arrived. The server saw my reaction and offered to take it back to keep it warm..it's a medium rare filet...warming lights aren't appealing. So I barely ate my salad so my meal would still be warm. On the bright side, the steak was decent. But these guys need to get their act together. read more

The restrooms had black mold or mildew growing at the water line of every toilet, the sinks were speckled with dried-on debris, and the rims of the urinals were carpeted with, uh, hair. I wish I'd discovered this BEFORE dinner, instead of afterward. God knows how the kitchen looked. Our food (though I question its cleanliness) was fine. Not extraordinary, fine. read more

We went to Out back today. My husband and I had chicken fried steak and my daughter had chicken tenders.The price is ridiculous the food was horrible the steak was very greasy. The chicken tenders wasn't good at all. We will never go back. read more

My wife and I are finally giving up. We used to go regularly for steaks, but we've noticed that the staff is ALWAYS different when we go. That's not a good sign. We stay away for a few weeks, and try again - only to be disappointed. Tonight was the final outing. My wife was specific to the point of telling the waiter how she wanted her steak repeatedly - no seasoning. Of course, like the last two times, it came back seasoned. And like the last two times, she gets a steak after I have finished mine. It ends up being fed to our dogs. Another eye-opening fact is that my iced-tea (which was never refilled as it sat empty at the edge of the table for a good twenty minutes) costs $6. Really? My wife's glass of wine was $10. Why is tea worth $6? I had to ask three times for sweet and low. I finally started walking to the bar to get some when they realized they didn't bring it. I'm normally not very picky about food - but when you're paying on the order of $25 or more for a meal - per person - you have the right to expect more. Well, I can spare you the trouble. Don't expect more here. So Outback seems concerned now and they responded to this post (see below). They requested I contact their web site. Well, I did, the same day I wrote this. Of course, they did not respond to my comment on their site. Since my comments are not public on their web site, the appearance of concern is not important I guess. First time visting this Outback location. I got the cheese fries for the appitizer, and a 8oz steak for my entree. I paid $1 extra for a premium side which was broccoli and cheese...not sure why the cheese looked, and resembled mayonnaise. My other side was a baked potato. Took about 15 minutes to get our drinks, and another 10 to place our order. The order was 2 steaks well done so I understood the wait would be a little extra. 30 minutes later our food arrived and it was great. I would eat here again but they seem understaffed. read more

Last few times service was not good. Forgot to give silverware both times, no refills on drinks, no bread, no to go boxes, we had to eat our steaks cold because we did not have silverware read more

My last review of the Outback in Lufkin was not favorable. However since the new Management, it has done a 180. The good food and good service, Outback is known for has returned. The new owner stopped by to make sure everything was alright. read more

In the past months, many things have changed here. If you do not visit do to a past experience, take the time to try it out again. New management, new renovations, and new priorities make it better than ever. My favorite steak is the T-bone, but I do not mind a Victoria's Filet every now and then. The spice(for me) is amazing, but it may be a little too much for some people. If you do not like spicy, you may want to ask if they can do half of the seasoning. All in all.... very much worth it. read more

since its been here in Lufkin I've only been 3 times. once I went and the other two was on invitation. their steaks to me are the worst. I given them a chance every time and I've been not impressed. the texture of the meat to me is "grainy".... just not a fan. I know some people who love it but this is my opinion. for a steak go to hole in one café. read more

I'll give a 3, because the food was actually very good. Our waitress however was horrible. She was short, with a short pixie haircut. That should tell you, she didn't even tell us her name when we got there. She got our drinks out quick, but then disappeared for awhile. I asked for a margarita that said frozen or on the rocks. The majority of the time, a waitress/waiter will ask which you prefer, instead she brought it out on the rocks after about 20 minutes after I ordered it and it was watered down, like it had sat for awhile. This place wasn't busy at all. She made sure everyone around us, got what they needed and then finally came and took our order. I'll go back, but I'll definitely make sure we don't get seated in her section again. read more

Had the ribs, dry with sauce on the side and a sweet potato. Food was ok. Service was ok. There was a pretty rank smell of rotten beer at the bar which tells me cleanliness is not a priority. I will probably try another place the next time I'm in town. read more

Bloomin' onion was burned , with grease tasting like it had not been changed in awhile. Steak was gray looking- no grill marks and lots of fat and gristle . Baked potato soup very watery , the side of sautéed mushrooms was not delivered with the steak. We had to as a passer by waiter for them. With a bill of 65.00 for 2 people, food and service should have been excellent ! . Will go to Logan's next time we're in Lufkin. read more

Just had a tired experience on a Monday night. From the server rushing us through what we hoped was a peaceful meal, to the weekend leftovers that were served. Got a Trio Appetizer with stale cabbage underlying the dried out Ahi tuna accompanied by not fresh avocado in the avo/crab stack. Server recognized the sauces weren't with it and brought them out quickly. Steamed veggies with the Mahi entree definitely old and scant toppings on the fish finished an underwhelming experience. Great staff with managers who are always walking around making sure everything is good for their customers. Love the steak and shrimp. Bread is always warm as well. The beers on tap are awesome and always cold! read more

Ate here on Monday, January 25. Table of 9, so we expected a little slower service due to the size of the party, was a friend's birthday, everything on one ticket. Server promptly was at the table as everyone arrived and got drunk orders in the go, also got a couple of appetizer orders at the same time. Everything seemed to be going fine, everyone situated on drinks and chit-chat. Waitress came back around with bread and appetizers and got the orders taken, and this is when it seemed to completely fall apart. NOT blaming the waitress for any of what came from here out. Took almost 30 minutes for any of the food to come out, and of the 4 first entrees to arrive, 2 had issues (over-cooked steak, and missing items from a vegetable plate), and then we waited, and waited a little longer as the waitress apologized for the delay. 10 minutes later, the rest of the entrees arrived, 4 more meals, of which 3 of them were supposedly sirloin steaks. Now I won't say that I'm an expert on steaks, but none of the three cuts of meat resembled each other at all. One looked like a ribeye medallion, one a very thin slice of something and the last resembled what everyone agreed that a sirloin should look like. One of the three was cooked to the state that it was ordered at, medium. The birthday person got the "medallion" cut, sirloin ordered well-done, when cut into was at best medium-rare, the thin slice of something was ordered as medium-well and came out as well-well-done. After being sent back to the kitchen twice the person with the medallion cut just gave up, actually didn't get a steak at all. Disappointed at the kitchen on this night, waitress was great, none was her fault, manager did comp the medallion steak, and a little extra to make up for the issue. Don't know if they have a new kitchen staff, or were just out of things, but for a steak house to not be able to get the proper cook on a steak is fairly inexcusable. read more

this experience happened on jul 13, 2015 at lufkin tx, i will try to post this review again and not fumble the typing so that a shortened version is printed. bottom line was a birthday lunch for my brother was ruined, by negligent staff during a slow period, that allowed the food ordered to be served at darn near room temperature. every thing from the bread to the baked potato was cool. my bad for being too timid to make a ruckus. a staff member asked me how the food was and i complained that the food was cold. he offered to put my medium rare steak back on the grill but, annoyed, and since nearly everything served us was cold, and being afraid of making a scene, i waved him off. that will never happen again! the high spirits of a happy birthday were already ruined but we tried to not admit it. i vow to make them make it right, in the future, from mcdonalds to, where ever and especially outback! my bro ordered a hamburger steak with a baked potato and a salad. my wife ordered the coconut shrimp lunch special with french fries. i ordered flat iron steak with shrimp on the barbie and a baked potato, and a salad i shared with my wife. the salads were very good and served in chilled salad bowls. the food quality nose dived from that point. my brother's hamburger steak was the most unappetizing $12.00 entree i have ever seen. dry, it perched upon two slices of white mushroom and 5 pieces of grilled onion. no sauce. no gravy; not a hint of moisture anywhere on the plate. his baked potato (and mine too!) barely melted the butter. my wife's food was also near room temperature but the shrimp would taste good at any temp and she was delighted with the dipping sauce. the limp fries disappointed. my steak was cooked just the way i like it at medium rare with a "warm" center. i had problems with it. first it was cold. no sizzle no juice. second it was served on the same plate as the shrimp and the sauce from the shrimp did not complement the steak flavors. at $18 bucks is is a decent deal but be sure to request separate plates if you order it . how does this happen in a restaurant that wants to be semi-upscale? there were at most 6 tables of diners, yet the ball was dropped between the kitchen and the servers. maybe a smoke break? maybe a chat fest? it was my brother's birthday; and if i had made the scene i should have, he would have been terribly embarrassed. clearly the lufkin store of outback needs better managing. what we experienced should never happen!!!!!!!!! read more
