Filet with a side of chimichurri sauce and a loaded baked potato

After living here for 8 years, we finally decided to try this restaurant. Sat at the bar and was taken very good care of by Shandy. The filet was cooked perfectly and real tender. Enjoyed the Caesar salad with homemade dressing, and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his onion soup!

This is the steak I received when I ordered the Joey Sirloin from the kids meal section. I just wanted to leave this here. As usual, the hype doesn't measure up. Aces on the asparagus, though, heh.

Feathers in wings

Haven't had the wings in awhile but the time I do, I have to pluck out feathers. This is just my order, you should have seen my wife's.

This particular Outback Steakhouse is located in a shopping plaza where there is a Kroger for an anchor location. Outback Steakhouse started in Tampa, Florida in 1988 and billed itself as an Australian-inspired Steakhouse. I have often wondered if they went with the "Australian-inspired" concept due to the popularity of the "Crocodile Dundee" movies because I have never seen anything that separated Outback Steakhouse (or made it more Australian) than any of the other mid-level priced steakhouses like Longhorn, Roadhouse, etc. Anyway, Outback Steakhouse has grown to over a thousand locations in twenty-three countries. The food here is OK. Nothing special, but nothing terrible. It is exactly what it is supposed to be, a national chain restaurant that is concerned more with consistency amongst its locations rather than producing incredible food. All in all, this restaurant was picked more for its proximity to my hotel rather than any notion of "Australian-inspired" or for the food. Outback Steakhouse is not a bad location, it is just another chain Steakhouse with a decent price point.

Better than expected food. Mediocre, slow service. Packed even at 4:30 on a Friday. It's worth a try if you're hungry and a meat lover.

Our 10oz ribeye were both over cooked/salty and the waiter smelled so bad I held my breath every time he passed us. This place is a nope!

Gone is any semblance of atmosphere as previously noted. The entry room was full of tacky boxes the minute you walk in. The restaurant was nearly empty, which should have been a massive clue. They still make you do that ridiculous text to get a seat/reservation - which is not only weird and inconvenient, but absurdly unnecessary in this day and time of technology. Not only that, but - as others have also noted - the service was one slight touch away from downright rude. My wife and I both felt like our waitress thought we were an inconvenience. As for the food: The salad bar was just ok this time. Still fairly fresh veggies and lots of options for toppings/sauces, but none of it had very much flavor. Keeping with that theme, the steaks we ordered (filets) and the baked potatoes - both of them simply had NO flavor! It's like the kitchen has never heard of salt and pepper. Sure, there's some on the table - but for meat to be proper it has to be seasoned either BEFORE or DURING the cooking process, not once it arrives at the table. The meat was fine, I guess (though only after I had to send my first piece back as it was - once again - BADLY overcooked) but the biggest offender now? THE PRICES!!! Oh. My. Lanta. $52 for a tiny 6oz filet in HERMITAGE?! That's right. FIFTY TWO DOLLARS FOR A SIX OZ STEAK. That too much? Fear not, it's now an absurd $18 for a stand alone salad bar!! Where do they think they are? This isn't the country club in Brentwood, it's hwy 70 in Davidson County. Getting even less food than we got last time (including not being given any table bread) for WAY more in price, we will not return. This time for one appetizer, no drinks, and only 2 small steaks, our tab was $150. No way was the meal we were given worth it. Saying this experience and food was sub-par is being generous. We feel like we just got ripped off.

A destination restaurant hiding inside a destination resort…read more When people think of the Gaylord Opryland, they usually think of the stunning indoor gardens, waterfalls, and sprawling atriums. What they may not realize is that tucked inside this incredible resort is one of the finest old-school steakhouses in Nashville. Old Hickory Steakhouse exceeded every expectation. A group of us settled in for what turned into a leisurely four-and-a-half-hour dinner, and honestly, it never felt rushed. It was the kind of evening where conversation flowed, wine glasses stayed full, and every course gave us another reason to linger a little longer. The dining room has timeless steakhouse elegance. Crisp white tablecloths, attentive but unobtrusive service, and gorgeous views overlooking the resort's indoor gardens make it feel like you're dining in a hidden oasis rather than inside a convention hotel. And then there's the food... We ordered enough to experience nearly every corner of the menu. The bone-in ribeye was beautifully marbled with a deeply caramelized crust and that rich, buttery flavor ribeye lovers chase. The tomahawk was every bit the showstopper. Perfectly aged, sliced for sharing, incredibly tender, and cooked to a gorgeous medium-rare. It was one of those centerpieces that makes everyone at neighboring tables stop and look. The double-cut pork chop deserves its own applause. Thick, juicy, perfectly grilled, with just enough char to add smoky depth while staying remarkably moist. The filet was everything a filet should be--fork tender with an elegant sear. The scallops were another standout. Beautifully caramelized with a golden crust while remaining silky and sweet inside. They disappeared almost immediately. We also shared the steak tartare, which was expertly prepared and beautifully balanced, followed by an artisan cheese selection that made a wonderful transition before dessert. The sides easily hold their own. The lobster mac and cheese was unapologetically rich and creamy. The loaded baked potato arrived overflowing with all the classic steakhouse indulgence. The French onion soup was deeply savory beneath its bubbling blanket of beautifully browned cheese. Even the Caesar salad impressed, served with crisp whole romaine leaves generously dressed and finished with plenty of Parmesan. Fresh warm rolls with whipped butter started the evening exactly the way every great steakhouse should. Dessert somehow found room despite all of that. The coconut cake was enormous, impossibly moist, layered with coconut, and paired with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. It's absolutely meant for sharing, although you may not want to. Service throughout the evening was polished, knowledgeable, and perfectly paced. No one hurried us despite the length of our dinner, and every course arrived with impeccable timing. Yes, it's a splurge. But restaurants like this aren't simply about eating dinner. They're about slowing down, celebrating, sharing stories, and remembering why classic steakhouses have endured for generations. If you're staying at the Gaylord Opryland, don't make the mistake of leaving the resort for dinner. One of Nashville's best dining experiences may already be waiting just steps from your room. Life is simply too short not to eat well and travel well. Old Hickory Steakhouse lets you do both.

We chose to go to The Library, which is located within The Old Hickory Steakhouse, simply because we liked the name -- we figured a bar called The Library would be quiet and chill, and it was. All the cocktails had literary names and puns, such as Life of Chai, Gift of a Magi, and Treasure Island. I ordered Fahrenheit 451 (Old Hickory bourbon, raw sugar, Regan's orange bitters, and cherrywood smoke -- they actually set the drink on fire so it would smoke), and my sister had Great Expectations (Zephyr gin, Italicus, lemon, pomegranete, simple syrup, and Zardetto Prosecco). We really enjoyed our drinks, and despite being pricy (drinks ranged from $15 to $18, which, while not cheap, is not higher than most places), we would liked to have stayed for another one, but unfortunately we only had time for one round. It shattered, the drink going everywhere but mostly on the lap of my guest. That happens sometimes and I thought our table took it pretty well. What doesn't happen though is we were left to clean up the mess... Our server did come and pick up the remnants of the glass after a bit as well as dropping off a few napkins and a bandage for one of my guests who was cut with a glass shard. She did apologize profusely for the accident and I would not have brought any of this up on a yelp review had it not been for what followed... Our salads came and we're not at all what I've come to expect from Longhorn. Finally our steaks came and the poor guy who had a drink broke in his lap had his steak well undercooked. He pointed it out and the server (not our waitress) was obviously annoyed and took the plate back to the kitchen... What they brought back could best be described as charcoal. It would have been funny any other time but by this point, I was just over it. Finally, a manager came by and asked about our dinner. We told him about the broken glass, dumped drink, the cut hands, the burnt, burnt steak and the room temperature baked potatoes all around. He didnt apologize, he didn't offer a discount but he did offer one of my guest another potato... I go to Longhorn quite often when I travel. This was my third visit to this Longhorn as I'm in the Nashville area four or five times a year for business. I kind of doubt there will be a fourth visit.

While the breast was moist, the entire chicken was so salty. I removed the skin because it was literally inedible due to salt, but there was really no difference in the chicken without the skin. I just couldn't eat it. It went back to the kitchen, where staff tasted it and agreed with me that it was way over salted. They brought me a pear salad which was delicious and actually cooled my mouth down a bit. I've drunk a bunch of water and hours later, my mouth still feels like it was burned from the salt. I would try again but need a bit of time to get over this experience.
