This time my outing was more of a date than just the girls hanging out and I enjoyed everything or maybe the company had me seeing stars. Seriously. Ordered takeout from Outback and it did not disappoint. I went with the sirloin, mashed potatoes, and broccoli--simple but done really well. The steak was juicy and cooked perfectly, and the sides were just as good. The mashed potatoes were rich and creamy, and the broccoli was alright. It's always a gamble with takeout, but this meal was honestly great from start to finish. Super satisfying and exactly what I was craving. read more

This particular Outback Steakhouse is located in a shopping plaza where there is a Kroger for an anchor location. Outback Steakhouse started in Tampa, Florida in 1988 and billed itself as an Australian-inspired Steakhouse. I have often wondered if they went with the "Australian-inspired" concept due to the popularity of the "Crocodile Dundee" movies because I have never seen anything that separated Outback Steakhouse (or made it more Australian) than any of the other mid-level priced steakhouses like Longhorn, Roadhouse, etc. Anyway, Outback Steakhouse has grown to over a thousand locations in twenty-three countries. The food here is OK. Nothing special, but nothing terrible. It is exactly what it is supposed to be, a national chain restaurant that is concerned more with consistency amongst its locations rather than producing incredible food. All in all, this restaurant was picked more for its proximity to my hotel rather than any notion of "Australian-inspired" or for the food. We went to the Outback on Charlotte Pike in Nashville - a late lunch for my birthday. It was a disappointment. We waited several minutes after being seated before a server appeared. He did come by once and apologized for making us wait. He took our order at about 2:45. It arrived after 3:00. There were four tables with people on our side of the restaurant. Even though we asked twice, we never received any bread. When our food arrived it was not hot. My steak was cooked properly. The other one at our table was overcooked. The Alice Spring chicken was cooked properly, but it had apparently sat for a bit; the toppings had slid off. Our baked potatoes were no longer hot, and neither were the fries (which were limp). The broccoli was good, but it also was not hot. Same with the mushrooms. Our server avoided making eye contact. We had to ask for the check. Overall, we were not pleased with the service or the food today. I'm not sure we will ever return to this location. read more

This is a very good and consistent Outback. The GM, Matt, is great. Feel free to sit at the bar; consistently good service from the bartenders, many of whom are tenured. This is a great Outback. All the food was cooked perfectly . We had a good waitress and she made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal . She wasn't like a lot of them that you never see until it's time to angle for the tip . In fact , she was good enough that it's the first time I ever tipped 25% . The table was clean , the bathrooms were clean and you didn't stick to the floor when you walked . Manager came over and asked if we enjoyed our meal . They had the Aussie Aussie Aussie deal. I wasn't pleased this visit on 4/1 as my food was cold and I had to wait another 20 minutes for them to prepare another meal. I ordered the bone in ribeye, loaded with garlic butter, mashed potatoes, and cream spinach. I felt my waitress (Valentina) was not attentive as my Sprite was flat and I've only been trying to find her for at least 10 minutes after I sat down. The manager came by to offer his apologies for my unpleasant experience and said my food would be out shortly. I received it 20 minutes later with no mash potatoes and no garlic butter. At this point I am just ready to go. The waitress came with my bill and I expressed my opinion that I shouldn't have to pay for anything but I am happy to do so because I wouldn't be back!!!!! Took my son here for lunch two weeks ago for the first time and what a delightful server. She was friendly, smiling, on top of the drink refills, and for the first time, I felt like I was in someone's home. It was just really refreshing when most other places are mediocre at best. The food was terrific, too. I wish i knew her name. First the shrimp were cold! The Alfredo sauce on the pasta was cold and watery. I'm not sure there was any cheese in it. I didn't try the chicken opting to take it home were I could at least warm it in my microwave. All this for $25.00. My waitress never inquired about the meal even after seeing all I touched was the chicken to place in the to go box. Leaving everything else in the bowl. That's not the only thing, so watch your receipts especially if you have Brandi G as your server. She was quite rude and very short. When you are ordering she would cut you off mid sentence. Your mom's PB&J sandwiches are probably more inspired. All three steaks came out overcooked. Medium well was well over done- dry and leathery. Medium rare was medium. To their credit, the steaks were fixed immediately and perfect the second time around. Meat quality comments came after receiving the steaks at the right temperature. Service was well above average.
