I have been to The Hermitage Steakhouse many times and have had a good experience most times. However, our server this time was in such a hurry to get us out that our entire experience was ruined. We were there for an entire meal including dessert, (which we had to have go because we felt so rushed), we were there less than an hour for everything. Even her sharp tone was uncomfortable. And considering what we paid, we should have had the opportunity to take our time and enjoy our meal. Unfortunately, I will not be back due this experience. Our gang of four enjoyed our steak dinner. Friendly, attentive service. Steaks come with a single choice of side, salad bar, and bread if you ask for it. Salad bars take a lot of attention and was kept clean. We chose a Ribeye and Filet Mignon cooked to our order medium-rare with fully loaded baked potato. Seating was mostly couples and tables of four. Larger groups were in another room. Full bar. Private parking lot. Open for dinner Tues-Sunday, lunch Tues-Fri, and brunch only on Sunday. Convenient from BNA airport and The Hermitage Overall good value for a steak dinner. The steak was of very good quality and taste. Reservation is essential. Went for a quick date night - hadn't been here in several years. You have to text a number for reservations which is interesting but not a problem. It was a Friday night and got a reservation the day before. It was like 3/4 full at 6:30 and we were sat quickly. The waitress was very nice, we ordered the bubble bread, and I got a 6oz filet with salad bar and baked potato and husband got the 12iz ribeye with the same. The bubble bread was pretty good, very cheesy. Salad bar here is always memorable, 40 options or something like that of toppings. My filet was pretty good, they do their steaks on the grill so there's char flavor but not much else. Husbands ribeye was more of a medium than med rare and pretty thin - same comments on the flavor. Once a Favorite, Now a Major Disappointment I'm genuinely sad to write this, as the Hermitage Steakhouse used to be one of my favorite local spots. But after my most recent visit, I won't be returning. To start, the drinks were a letdown -- the tonic in my cocktail was completely flat, making it taste more like tap water than anything else. But the worst part of the evening? a quarter of the way through my overpriced 12 oz ribeye, I pulled a long black hair out of my mouth. Absolutely disgusting. For a place that once prided itself on quality, this was a shockingly bad experience. And on our anniversary, no less. Between the lackluster service, poor attention to detail, and a kitchen that clearly needs to step up its standards, it's safe to say this place has really gone downhill. Moving here from Wisconsin, this place gives us that great supper club vibe we love so much. Staff has always been super friendly. Their salad bar is OUT OF THIS WORLD. And their Sunday brunch is great too. Steaks are always a solid choice. Opt for the side of grilled asparagus. Even my asparagus-hating husband loved it! The lack of amenities here besides basic food is disappointing to me. Laminate tables, no table cloths, basic restaurant grade plates and flatware....,cheap. Presentation is non existent! We ordered steaks with baked potatoes...which is what we got....two brown lumps on a cheap white plate. We looked at each other with raised brows when it was brought out. Not appetizing at all, although the steaks were good. But not the best I've ever had by a long way. I can't say it was better than a Long Horn Steak house, who has better service and linen. Service was just adequate. She did her job but without asking if we wanted another drink or if our meal was correct. The steaks were cooked as ordered, I will give them that. In a city of trendy restaurants, Hermitage was a nice chance of pace of just being old school Nashville! It's difficult to figure out how to make a reservation at hermitage steakhouse considering there's no instructions on their Facebook (no website) & no one ever answers the phone number listed on Facebook & google! The host told us when we walked in you have to text a specific number they give you to make a reservation (how would we have known this? It's not published anywhere!) But good news is we were able to walk in and kill time at the bar while waiting for a table. Julia the bartender was awesome! She had great drink & food recommendations. We had drinks & an appetizer & then our table was ready. The lamb chops & the pork chops were both outstanding! Our server Tyler was very efficient & very kind! We could not have asked for a better server! There are very few salad bar places left in Nashville & hermitage does the salad bar right! Everything on the salad bar was fresh! & the salad bar was very clean! We enjoyed our visit to the Hermitage Steak House. The dining rooms aren't large so we had about a 30 minute wait for a table on a Friday evening. Apparently they do take reservations, so next time we will give that a try. Our waiter was exceptional. He was very polite and made sure we had everything we needed. My husband and I both had ribeye steaks, and they were cooked to a perfect medium. The salad bar was also well stocked with Romaine and spinach, cheese, bacon, cottage cheese, pasta salad, and other fresh vegetables. It was a great precursor to our meal. So our second time back. Went with friends who wanted to try this place out. Pretty sure they were disappointed as neither finished their main courses - salmon and a steak. My filet was a bit dry. There are chain restaurants that serve a steak that is better for about two-thirds the price. For a better value, you might want to try one of those, or spend just a little more and go downtown to a place like Del Frescos. We went on a Thursday night and glad we had reservations. This place is popular - but the clientele is definitely on the older side. We finally had an off night, with no specific meal plans, and decided - "Let's go out for a treat." We called ahead and placed our name on the call-ahead waiting list, which did help. We only had a 10 minute or so wait once we got inside, around 6pm. Upon entering, we were greeted with a very nice waiting room, comfortable/plentiful seating, and a house musician that added a very welcome tinge of atmosphere to the aire. Once called for our table, we were quickly met with a server and placed our drink/appetizer orders. We then quickly made our way to the salad bar, one of the best I've been to in middle TN. EVERYTHING was fresh. The veggies were very tasty and crisp, the accoutrements plentiful, and the dressings covered a wide swath of flavors. Excellency. When we returned to our table, the appetizer we had ordered of the "Bubble Bread" had been delivered, so we set about alternating bites of cheesy bread and delicious salad. Shortly thereafter, the waitress returned to take our orders. The wife and I both opted for a filet, while I chose a filet and chicken combo. Side note: The prices you see anywhere online do NOT match the prices in the restaurant. The menu prices were quite a bit MORE expensive. We were not prepared for that, but hey, we were already there. When our food came out, everything looked of good quality and freshness, even though the baked potatoes we ordered had extremely skimpy toppings. We had to send our poor waitress back twice to get additional things we needed (butter, cheese, etc.) for the potatoes. The steaks were made with very fresh beef, and you could taste the freshness, but that was absolutely it. Both of ours were over-cooked, and neither had been prepared with any semblance of seasoning. We were just hungry at this point and neither of us asked to have them re-done. The chicken I received on the combo was just the same: fresh, quality meat, but NO flavor, no seasoning, no love beyond the freshness. To top off the attempted, but poor quality of preparation, let me get back to the prices. The wife and I frequent MANY steakhouses, from your run-of-the-mill ma&pa type shops to uber-expensive, fancy-pants joints. We expect to get what we pay for, and in most cases, do. Not here, unfortunately. We left with a $120 bill for what amounted to just an 'ok' meal. They are charging WAY too much for what you receive, and while the ingredients may be fresh and quality, the serving sizes/portions and the taste are non-existent. Nearly $35 for a SMALL filet, SMALL piece of chicken and a single small baked-potato? I think we'll get our steaks elsewhere in the future. But if only other places had their salad bar! read more

My husband and I came to this restaurant. We didn't feel very comfortable we didn't have any reservations and either did other people and they were only a party of 2 like us and were seated before us! Which made us feel more uncomfortable! Way over priced I had a strip and husband had a chicken breast and we shared a spinach dip and 2 sweet teas! $90 dollars completely way overpriced for the dinner we were served only had a few chips with the dip waiter never asked if something was wrong with it! Absolutely the worst spinach dip we've ever eaten wouldn't serve that to a dog! I wouldn't give this place a star at all if I had my choice! Truly lovely experience! An adorable, cozy setting, with a few surprising menu items with a lot of wow factor. An upscale touch to that small town local place. Their appetizer options are something to definitely not miss.
