Went for a pre-Valentine dinner and while we are generally satisfied at this location, I noticed a few things that cause me to decrease my rating. There used to be a time when the bread was served warm. Whether that was just an illusion to fresh, even the second order of bread was cold, making us question whether we are being served yesterday's bread? While I ordered the sirloin medium rare and my wife ordered her filet medium, the steaks arrived the opposite. Doneness is always a little plus/minus outside of kitchens with outstanding chefs, but those were definite shades and took away from our experience. When using the restroom I noticed the urinal needed a good scrubbing for a while already, and the foam residue from where the soap dispenser used to be attached was a definite cry of neglect. Waited over twenty minutes for a table, when we were finally seated the dining room was filled with empty tables that needed to be cleaned. Very understaffed. Took another 15 minutes to see our waiter. In total, it took over two hours for my family of four to eat. We ordered a bloomin onion and it was overdone. We went here to give this place a chance and left barely satisfied. The wait we were told was 30-40 minutes for 2 people. Well that turned out to more than an hour. Not sure why as there were still empty tables that stayed empty during our entire stay. Maybe there was staff that was sick for the kitchen or the wait staff. Not the best impression. The menu had limited choices and was on the pricey side. We had to ask for more water, more soda and were never offered another refill beyond 2. My wife never received her water. The wine she had was nearly $10 a glass. We had to ask 3 times for more bread. The waitress was nice but didn't go above and beyond. The food was average it didn't wow our socks off. I'm going to try and keep this review short. They were a little busy when we showed up but we didn't have to wait hardly any before we were quickly led to a table. We never had to wait on our server, he was always quick to make sure we had all we needed. My mom had the unlimited shrimp and she didn't even need to ask before her next plate of shrimp was brought to the table. I really enjoyed the bread and steak I had and I even liked the shrimp (I don't normally like shrimp). Our server, Edward, was very funny and very nice to us the whole time, making the experience even more enjoyable. Towards the end of our meal we started to discuss getting ice cream. This Outback is my "go to" when I want meal in the Genesee Vally area. Outback pushes their Bloomin Onion but my favorite appetizer is the Hot Wings. It's a little known secret that these wings are EXCELLENT! I just hate that they went up in price, although it hasn't stopped me from ordering them on every visit The food here is consistently pleasing along with the service. I have always said Outback is an ok place - because at least you always know what you are going to get. However, the last time I went was horrible. We split a plate of wings for an appetizer - usually delicious. But they were sitting in a plate full of grease and fryer sludge. My wife, a couple of our kids and I had dinner with her parents and two of her aunts yesterday. The experience was just ok and if it had not been for a very sweet waitress it would have been pretty disappointing. I always say that a smiling, patient, and kind waiter/waitress can make up for numerous restaurant failures and this experience was an example of that. The food arrived late and in two waves so half of our table had to start eating while the other half waited otherwise their food was going to get cold. I had the Aged Cheddar Burger and it was, again, just ok, nothing spectacular. I also ordered the side salad for $3.99 and I was not impressed with the portion size. They should not have charged more than $1.99 for that tiny thing. Anyway, the waitress was very friendly which to me is important and without that this rating would be 1 star and much more of a rant. Went to Outback Friday night. Worst experience I have had at a restaurant in the last 10 years. I understood the long wait to get in due to covid but, upon entering the restaurant 3/4 of the booths were empty. Took almost 20 mins for our server to bring our drinks, 40 minutes for appetizers and one hour 20 minutes to bring our food and our server did not bring all of our order. Server never check with us if we needed any thing. Had to go to the hostess and ask for refills on our drinks-water and ice tea. Had to ask server to remove the dirty dishes that were stacked on the end of our table and even after asking he removed only 1/2 of the dirty dishes. Recommend that if you want poor service, mediocre food and long wait times then this is the restaurant you want. Will never ever go back. I was at this Outback Steakhouse two weeks ago. I was eating a new York strip. When I took a bite the guest I was eating with and the waitress heard a crack. When I spit the food back out two parts of my tooth came out with it. I tried to let them make it right but they refused and told me no object no case. they refused to fix my tooth. The reason there was no object was because the manger didn't give me a chance to look through the steak before taking it away. I have insurance for a reason I guess. We arrived on NYE around 4:40pm thinking we would beat the rush. There was a 30+ minute wait with tons of open tables. We opted to sit at the bar since there was no wait. From that moment on, the bar continued to get stacked with customers. There was one bartender. I felt sorry for her. She tried her best but it was obvious her bar wasn't stocked properly and she needed help from drowning. Our food order came out wrong, no big deal, we ate it, but we were there a total of almost 2 hours just due to wait times. There is a reason that this place only totals three stars and I do not know how it managed that. We always enjoyed Outback in the past however they have gone down hill and I could not recommend them for any meal and yes we have tried more than once. After this last visit (we had tried the Clarkston Location and given up on them) we now have to say that in the last three years and 30 states we have traveled in that Outback is no longer the restaurant we enjoyed and in fact preferred. Sad to say but none of them have been even what we could call good and like this one most are a waste of time and dining dollars. The onion was dripping in oil and was tasteless. The rest of the food was nothing special and took what seemed like hours to get out. My Medium rare steak was cooked to about medium well. The WORST service ever. Had reservations for 5:30. Got seated at 5:35. No silverware on table. Took waitress 10 minutes before being acknowledged. Ordered a coffee, that took 20 minutes before she brought it to us. Salad was warm. We had to ask for bread and waitress said it was in the oven and it will be right out. When she finally brought bread out, it was not even warm. It should have been hot .. right?? It was 6:35 and our meal still wasn't served. Finally at 6:50 our food was brought out and my husbands was BARELY warm. Told waitress to throw it out it was so bad. She never apologized or otherwise. He asked for more coffee and that took another 12 minutes. My prime rib was just lukewarm and my coconut shrimp was soggy. The only thing palatable was the baked potato. We have been to that Outback 3 times and all 3 times service was horrible! We will never return to the Outback in Flint. What a waste of our hard earned $60.00 and 2 hours of our precious time. Waitress was a total loser and never apologized. Shame on you restaurant managers for hiring people who don't want to work, but just want a paycheck. DO NOT eat at that restaurant.
