Ambiance: 3* A little rundown and a dingy inside to go with the darkness of the place. Service: 5* I believe our servers name was Adam. He was attentive and right on top of things. Food: 2.5* I got a half a rack of ribs along with baked potato soup and some french fries. All items except the ribs were heavily Over-salted. Heavily is the key word. I literally ate about a third of the other two items as it seemed like they possibly dumped a salt container over the other two items. I enjoy salt, just not nearly what they put onto it. My partner had a sirloin steak and a baked potato. Potato seem like it was sitting under a warmer for quite a while and the steak was way overcooked and highly chewy. Came here for a saturday night dinner with the wife and kid. Parking lot is very spacious. Food 5/5 Sirloin steak cooked just right, grilled shrimps were well seasoned and delicious. French Omion Soup hit the spot. Perfect cheese melt. Rice Pilaf cooked just right. Slightly pricey at $8.99 but good for a once in a while treat. Outback's free bread is very good also...their healthy bread. Service: 1/5: It was very bad. We had a baby so we asked for waitress to come back in a minute. Big mistake as a table of 11 walked in and our waitress attended to them for a very long time before coming back to take our order. Then a table of 20+ also was assigned to her as well and as at least another table in a different section. Of course our waitress got super busy with these massive tables and didn't have time to check in on us. I requested ketchup it never came. We waited for her to spring by at the end to get to-go boxes, it never happened. I had to ask the hostess for boxes after a long wait. It's not really the waitress' fault, she should not be assigned two very large parties consecutively with no assistance. Front of house management non-existent here. This is by no means fact, but personal opinion... right off, after having eaten many a meal a various Outback Steakhouses across the country, I have never been convinced of, nor delighted in almost any offerings of the much-revered steakhouse. Yet returning to prove myself wrong. Recently visiting one these Aussie wannabe restos, the Outback Steakhouse - Tempe, my mind has unfortunately not changed. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, and I won't criticize folks who like it, to each his/her own tastes, but in spite of their enormous marketing expense, since opening their doors in Tampa and now closing in on 40 years of age, having their ups and downs financially, in my opinion, almost every other corporate lead, chain and franchise steakhouse bunch in America may be a better choice. The Bloomin' Onion don't do enough and not a draw! None of the menu offerings are very exceptional, there flavors aren't extraordinary, their prices barely equitable, their offerings not singular and, last but not least, not much exudes exceptionality to others! Somehow they have not learned or benefitted from their offsprings Carrabba's, Bonefish Grill, and Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and I wish they would. Thus, it is virtually impossible nowadays to not find conglomerates operating restaurants that can actually provide 1) amazing service: 3.5 , 2) excellent attention to detail especially in hospitality: 3.0 , 3) cleanliness, hygiene and comfort in their décor, amenities and lavatories: 4.0 , 4) an abundant and/or varied food and/or product menu: 4.0 , 5) consistently appetizing offerings: 3.5 , 6) a sincere customer service: 4.0 , 7) unique, innovative or specialized menus: 3.0 , 8) value and price of meals: 3.5 , and most of all, 9) the inert desire of one wanting to return, again and again for the experience gained: 3.5 . These are some if not most of what my basic requirements are when visiting one of these establishments each time. My wife and I, although not professional reviewers, are connoisseurs of excellent foods whether a fine upscale cuisine, middle of the road common eats, or a low-end fast-food joint. In this way, I have developed a to-the-point method for determining the personal worthiness of each establishment visited as noted in my opening. Simplified, each requisite noted for the establishment visited best scored by my highest score offered. Kind of a strange thing to rave about for a steakhouse but I am addicted to the steamed broccoli! The sirloin is juicy and perfectly seasoned and cooked. The seared peppered ahi is mouthwatering. My husband and I went here for my birthday tonight. We hadn't been for several years and we were looking forward to a nice dinner. Hardly anyone in the restaurant and still the service wasn't just slow it was basically non existent. Fortunately the appetizer came out pretty quickly, however, when the food eventually came out the only thing on my plate that was hot was the sweet potato. The broccoli was cold and mushy and so was the steak. I had the sirloin and it was pretty tough... I was disappointed but didn't want to ruin dinner by complaining. I ate the potato but left most of the rest of the food on the plate. My husband had the steak, shrimp and fettuccini alfredo. Apparently he was very disappointed too. Pasta was more than al dente, it just wasn't cooked. His steak medallions were also cold and so was his shrimp. I wasn't until 1/2 way through that he finally spoke up and said he was disappointed. He just couldn't finish it either... Our waiter went MIA, water glasses stayed empty and when the manager finally came over we had to ask for more water. She made no effort to clear the empty plates. We spent a while waiting for someone, anyone, to arrive so we could leave - there was no point in even thinking about dessert. We just wanted to pay and leave. Manager came over for a 2nd time and I asked for a box... my husband didn't even want to take his leftovers. Our waiter finally showed up we paid and left. The empty plates stayed on our table. Needless to say, birthday dinner was terrible, service was poor and a manager who won't lift a finger to clear plates off the table is no manager. read more

My husband and I haven't been to this location in many years because it seems like every time we go this location in particular we don't have the best experience. Yet again we gave this location another chance as it's the closest one to us, and we were again disappointed. We went to this location to pick up a mobile order we placed (The app told us what time our order should be complete by) but the app still said it was being prepared and not yet complete even though it was past the time the app said it should be done by. We showed up early for curbside as that's the only option, and no one ever brought our food out and the app order status never moved to the order 'complete stage' and still showed it in the 'prepping' stage. We finally just gave up on waiting and went inside to check on our order. Our biggest fear ordering food to go was that it would just be sitting there on the counter inside getting cold. My husband went inside to check on the status of our order and then came back outside to tell me there was no one inside at the food pickup counter, and that he couldn't find an employee inside to ask either. For our second attempt to pick up our food, we then tried calling the restaurant from our car to try to get ahold of someone inside to check on our order that way, but they didn't answer even though there was barely any cars in the parking lot and it was early in the day! For our third attempt to pickup our order, I then went inside myself a few minutes later to check on our order myself and I too stood inside at the to go pickup for quite a long while but no one was there. I kept hoping one of the waiters walking by would acknowledge me but they did not. This was so utterly frustrating because we were most excited about the Blooming onion we ordered and they are only good when they are freshly cooked as they start to get cold and soggy quick. We knew we should have just gone and ate inside or it probably wouldn't be fresh or hot but we took a chance as we had our dog with us waiting in the car as well. Finally as I gave up waiting at the take out counter and started to go look for someone in the restaurant dining area a man came and assisted me and said he'd go check on our order. At this point I definitely knew that our food would be cold, and he came back right away with our bag of food, so clearly it had been ready this whole time we waited. Just as expected the onion blossom was soggy, and no longer hot and you could see all the condensation on the container so it was very obvious it had been sitting there forever just as we feared. Even once we were driving out of the parking lot the Outback app still showed our food was still in the "Prepping" stage and not complete so I'm not sure why they didn't update the app either. We did everything in our power as customers to try to get our food right away so it was fresh and hot and we were completely blocked at every attempt. As customers when you get curbside your food should be brought to your car immediately once it's ready so you get it hot and freshly made, and the customer should not have to go inside to get their food. We don't mind that we had to go inside really, but when we had to go inside, and the outback app wasn't working correctly, and there was no one to help us inside or by phone, and then our food was also cold and just had been sitting there then that's an overall 0 out of 0 experience. They got nothing right in this to go order experience at all! We never eat out anymore because it's too expensive now, so when we pick up food as a special treat for my birthday then I'd hope it's a decent experience or that the food is at least worth it. Sadly, the food was disappointing, cold and soggy, the customer service was barely there at all, and we had to go inside to get our food as they never brought it to us! (I am handicapped too by the way so I shouldn't have had to walk inside to begin with) We love Outback, but I guess this is why we haven't been in years. We had a weird experience at another location and that manager provided us with some credits to come back. We decided to check out the Chandler location instead, and was pleasantly surprised with the service they provided. Our waitress Jacklyn was attentive, friendly, and overall a great addition to this location. My fiance was shocked at how good his filet mignon tasted. It needed a bit of A1, but it was cooked well & very tender. The drinks were very consistent at this location, and we highly recommend the smoked old fashioned. My only suggestion would be to not burn the coconut flakes on the coconut shrimp. I was unable to taste the coconut because they over fried them. Went here for lunch. In a word the meals were horrible. We ordered their famous blooming onion. It came drenched in oil. The outer onion pedals we're ok but the whole thing sat in a pool of fry grease. Wife had the lunch size outback chicken with a a side of Caesar salad. We ordered curbside a few days ago, seamlessly on the app. It said it was ready at 4:30pm. I showed up at 4:40pm and waited patiently as the sign indicated to "wait in the car." I also had a sleeping toddler with me which is why I chose curbside. At 4:50 I began calling the restaurant and nobody answered! Eventually a nice gal answered and said she'd let the manager know I was waiting. At 5:05pm someone finally came out and brought the soups and app we had ordered. Clearly they had been sitting in the bag awhile as no sooner than I put it in my car and attempted to move the bag from the front to the back, a soup steamed through the bottom, spilling on my floorboard. We were only a party of three, we were seated at 6:45 pm, and we didn't receive our food until 7:55 pm. Marcus was the manager that night. I really appreciated that he came over to our table around 7:30pm to apologize for the wait and updated us on an expected time for our dinner. Our waitress was also apologetic and let us know that she had put our order in, but for whatever reason the kitchen did not receive it. The food was decent, but probably not something I would seek again. For our inconvenience, Marcus comped our entire meal.
