Great place - good food and loved the outdoor bar- deck area - much better than expected - don't understand the negative reviews

Closest thing Medford has to a corner bar. Decent domestic beer specials daily. I'm not a craft beer guy but they seem to have a good selection. Sub-par bar food ever since they shrunk the app and entre menu to fit on the paper placemats. Wings are good but on occasion I've been served some that tasted gamey I.e. pre-cooked - less than freshly prepared. Service is spotty happy hours and weekends, most especially if you're not a regular. They really need to work on welcoming strangers. I'll be perfectly blunt, there are a lot of wealthy local regulars at Medford Otts and the staff fawns on them, so tough titties if your glass is empty, right? So it's Saturday and after a hard day at work in the yard we decided on a take out order ( covid 19) forced this.. we ordered, double cheese burger, boneless wings and a steak rice bowl!! Terrible fly situation ... INSIDE. Couldn't even stay to eat, there were too many... on the chairs, flying around you, behind you, in front of you...it was just gross. I'm writing this review because this is the 2nd time I have received bad service at the outdoor bar at Otts In Medford. The first time my friend and I ordered drinks and were going to order a second round but we waited a good 15 minutes for a bartender to even look at us. They were too busy talking to each other and on their phones to even look our way so we just left. I gave it another shot tonight as a lot of my friends go there and I live close by. But here we go again as we had to flag a bartender down just to get attention for our first drink and the bar was not that busy. Then we decided to order food and had to wait until we got another bartenders attention. I don't like to work when I go out and flag people. I want to be able to sit down and have someone come over and serve me, that's the whole point. After finishing our food we decided to go. After even many more minutes of waiting we tried to flag our bartender down but she was busy talking to another patron at the bar( clearly a personal conversation) only to be ignored. The bartenders name was Angela, she was extremely rude so we called to discuss with the manager, Tim, and he was totally unsympathetic and defended her. Terrible service, mediocre food. read more

Been coming to this building since... well let's say more than a few decades... Now that it is Ott's, it has become my favorite place to go. Place always seems to have a bunch of nice, fun people to hang with there. I go to watch sports, enjoy a happy hour or two a week, enjoy live music etc... They have the best bartenders top to bottom of any place I've ever been to, and the servers, bus people,cooks, and"even" the security folks are friendly, courteous and just great to be around. The food, well, there are a couple things I won't eat, brussel sprouts being one, but the grilled wings, pretzels, and Mama Ott's roast beef are my favorites. I've never had (really) a bad meal, but I do usually eat the same food most of the time. For a hometown bar/restaurant, this place is the best! read more

I was here Saturday night and I thought the music was incredible. I heard Josh put everyone's songs together and I thought that was the greatest idea. Do yourself a favor, stick with wings. I've never had an issue with any of the flavors and I love that I can get them grilled instead of fried. I've had the fish tacos and they were decent, lightly fried, good salsa on top. One time I veered from my usual and got the short rib tacos, expecting a great Asian flavor. I've never sent good back, but this was the closest I've come. There was no flavor and they were dry. Tasted more like shredded beef than short rib. Drinks are good, they have a good selection of spirits and thankfully the price of a glass of premium whiskey still only averages $10. Once you're seated, the atmosphere is good, but be prepared, service can be very slow at times. Overall, a great place to go watch the games on the weekend. read more

Place is literally the most disgusting establishment I have ever been to. There are actual SEWER FLIES in the restroom. Restroom stinks of urine and there was feces and pee all over the walls of the stalls. Food is terrible, tastes like reheated happy meals from mcdonalds. Ott's is awesome, keeping in mind, as Sue S said, it "isn't the fanciest joint in town." The atmosphere is great, if you accept it for what it is. My husband and I have been to Ott's several times, and we often get take out there. We have never been disappointed with the food. The menu selections are tasty, reasonably priced, and range from basic but comforting sandwiches (such as pork roll and cheese and hot roast beef) to items that are fairly fancy schmancy (such as my favorite, lobster bisque, and the glazed salmon entree), in addition to many other offerings. The service is good, and the servers are well-mannered and engaging. There's also more to do than eat and drink at Ott's. It's a great place to gather with friends, and there are bands that play there weekly. We haven't tried the outside bar yet,but it looks great. read more

I love this place! Such a cool atmosphere and the fire pits outside are just what you want for a chilly night out in February! They're cheesesteak is so delicious and my favorite bartender is Patrice, make sure you go to her for awesome drinks. Service is always so pleasant from start to finish every time I go. Ott's has been a staple in Medford for years. We tried the one in Mt Holly which is closer to home and will go the extra mile to go back to Medford. Not that My Holly doesn't have the same great food and drinks, the area sucks and you have to park several blocks away and walk down a narrow street. The last time, with the gathering in front of the main entrance (on the side of the building), was somewhat threatening, we drove away and went somewhere else. Want a great bar pie on thin flatbread, try Ott's but go to Medford! read more

My friends and I went to Otts for my friends birthday and I can't say enough great things about our experience! From the great Service of Marla to the food and just the atmosphere in general. We go there often, but Marla made our night even more great with her friendly outgoing personality helping to make my friends birthday eve more great! Ott's is one of a kind in Medford. They host incredible local bands in an intimate venue with a great selection of drinks and food. The location is in the heart of Medford, so it's easy to get a group of friends and neighbors together to celebrate a birthday or event. I live in Medford and this is a convenient place to go to listen to good bands , mingle, have some decent bar food and drinks. I go alone most times and never feel out of place. Love the indoor/outdoor patio. Lots of TV's for sports viewing. Nice friendly crowd. Bar tenders treat me well. Tends to draw a very young crowd later in the evening, but before that the crowd is mixed. The owners have done a nice job on the improvements. Wish the ladies room had more stalls as it can get backed up on crowded evenings. read more

Favorite bar in Medford. I am from the area originally and moved back after college. Good prices with excellent bar staff. They bring in live music regularly, some bands better than others but usually pretty good. The new renovation outside really made the place awesome. Food has drastically improved as well from before the renovation. Late night it can be a little rowdy but if you aren't into that you can just head in earlier and you will be fine. read more

This is my favorite place to go. It's very sociable and the bartenders are awesome. The waitresses are really nice! The food is really good. The buffalo nuggets with hot garlic sauce are the bomb! This place also has great bands that play every Friday and Saturday night. So much fun read more

Will never return. Spent a lot of money for a birthday party, service was terrible and the night ended with an incident with an off duty employee. Here with my wife and sisters, had really good service, and food was great burgers salads fish and chips and roast beef sandwich. All were excellent. I have not been here since it was Nicklebes a hundred years ago or so, and the food and service were both so much better. I had the sweet potato fries with blue cheese. Went to Otts for the first time in a while today. Had a great time! Sat at the bar and I have to say Josh, Katie and Angela were great. They were polite and smiling, and we never waited for a thing. Medford's local watering hole. The only other option is PJs in Medford Lakes which is generally more of a younger crowd. When I need a break from running into old classmates I usually hit up Ott's and chill with the old heads. They are much more entertaining! Live music from local bands on the weekends and beer specials during football when happy hour is over. Food is your standard bar food - 80% of the menu is most likely fried. Although they did renovate a couple years ago and it's been looking pretty great ever since. I don't see why anyone who isn't local would make their way over here for dinner unless they wanted to see the Juliano Bros. read more

Went to Ott's in Medford 5/24/18 with new group-Dad and Daughters. Large semi outdoors bar and patio. Choose the patio since it was such a beautiful night. Only problem was the mosquitios-not their fault just in the Pine Barrens and way too much rain lately. Once we all got there we were seated immediately, a very attentive waitress introduced herself and took drink orders-2 beers and a very strong iced tea. Took our orders for wings. They offered naked, grilled, boneless and breaded. we ordered a dozen naked. For me that was and always will be the original and the best. They offered a bunch of sauces mild, hot, hot & honey, garlic, holy hot, BBQ, honey teriyaki, maple BBQ, sweet Chili and orange ginger. We ordered hot and honey, garlic and sweet chili. When the wings came, they were hot out of the fryer and were very tasty plain. The sauces my have been made in house but they tasted premade. Not bad but not outstanding. Watiress gave us time to eat the wings and came back for our entree order. No rush at all. We ordered 2 bacon buffalo blue with crumbled blue cheese, mild sauce(really bland) and bacon that was 1 strip of bacon that must have been deep fried in the morning and was just sitting in the kitchen all day and 1 thinly sliced roast beef sandwich and fried onions with french onion au jus. The amount of roast beef on the sandwich was a good quantity but was well done and very dry. The au jus was made from a mix(French Onion soup base I'm guessing). No mention of the fried oinions from daughter who ordered it. One interesting point on the burgers that both I and one daughter ordered is that she does not eat bread, I do. Her input to this review was that her burger off the roll had very little sauce but a lot of blue cheese and probably 4 pieces of bacon. Next time I order a burger it's going to be off the roll. Burgers were done as ordered one rare, one black and blue(grilled 1 minute on each side) We all upgraded from chips that came with the sandwiches to onion rings and frys. I felt the onion rings were good but pre battered, daughter insists that they were fresh and tempura batter dipped. Either way they weren't bad. Frys were hot and crispy. The waitress was very attentive and was tipped accordingly. Because this location is basically a sports bar, the noise level was high, sitting on the outside patio made that bearable. I think I would go back if invited spicifically for that location by someone, otherwise I have a long list of "want to try' places before I would return.-3 stars. read more

NO, NO, DO NOT GO. We've been here 4 times and it's always BAD. Food is mediocre, place is FILTHY and the service is HORRIBLE. THEY JUST DONT CARE, so don't give them your hard earned money or your TIME. We came for a group event and waited an hour and a half after ordering and never got our food. We left and went elsewhere our kids were starving and we were all miserable. This place needs to close, seriously. They have NO IDEA what hospitality is supposed to mean. read more

I'm from medford originally (but live in San Diego now), and I've always liked Ott's. I really love the new outdoor addition especially the fire pit ...I just wish San Diego had the late night bar staff you guys have out there to make our bars more enjoyable....There is one bartender, shorter guy and always wears a flat brim facing forward, who is an absolute role model. I don't know how he's not running for president... I made eye contact with him multiple times and politely asked for a simple beer, not even a mixed drink, and made my beer taste like a mixed drink anyway like it was magic...His bartendering powers made me sign up for Yelp to write this review, I've never seen anything like it. Otts is much better than Harry's or nicklebees (yeah I'm old school Medford) so I can't complain about that. I find it odd that when you put music in the jukebox they skip it. For example, i put Anthrax 'only', Rammstein 'Moskau' and Metallica 'One' on thanksgiving eve and they skipped ever song. I understand you may not like metal, but what was played was System of a Down 'Chop Suey', Rage against the machine 'Renegades of funk' and some Eminem song. Guess they just enjoy taking money, so with that in mind I'll host my fantasy leagues somewhere else from now on along with holiday parties. Sorry Otts, you fucked up read more

We went around 6:00 on a Friday night and the crowd was fairly light. Bar area was crowded but very few people at tables. We walked in and waited way too long at the "please wait to be seated sign". Finally one of the many servers that walked by sat us. The French onion soup was good but its hard to mess that up. The loaded tater toys should come with a warning....they are billed as an appetizer but it was a huge plate. Thankfully I had already planned on sharing or else I would have had a lot to eat. read more

Love the new outside area, especially b/c it's non smoking. They also have an awesome propane fire pit! As far as the new outer bar it was okay but unfortunately the day cook, still in his chef gear was at the bar, all 300 plus pounds of him being louder than anyone around him.
