I stopped into this store in downtown St. Helena on a recent trip to Napa. Even if you are just window shopping it's a great little find. Completely full of imported art from Turkey, everything is beautiful to take in. My only qualm is just that the prices are all pretty steep, so I didn't end up taking anything home with me. Small qualm though, as I'm sure folks will pay, and I'm also sure it costs quite a bit to import many of these pieces of art. Overall, if I was back in the area I'd for sure stop in, and you never know if I found the right thing I might make an investment! read more

Don't judge a book by it's cover is my advice to owner. He profiled us as window shoppers and gave us the bum's rush, but he was mistaken.... We were prepared to spend high dollars until we were treated to snobbery .... Though I question the lamp prices and authenticity of them... seen the same elsewhere for 1/3 the cost. Finally an assortment of Moroccan and Middle Eastern inspired lighting we have looked for for 2 years! This store is full of so many beautiful colorful things. My friend complained that there were too many colors and it was hurting his brain! The lamps from turkey are gorgeous and if I had $2000 I would have brought one home! They do know their target demographic: Items abound! You can get cute little cat statues, pillows with cats on them, posters and plates. Speaking of plates, this is the place to go to get all those cute little plates with intricate floral divine designs painted on them. I asked if everything was from Turkey and for some weird reason he started making fun of me saying "are you for real or are you kidding me" and making comments about how stupid my question was. I purchased a beautiful 10-light chandelier here for my dining room. They took the time to measure every similar fixture in the store to make sure it wouldn't be too long. Gave me a killer price as well. Once I got it hung I realized it would require an additional foot and a half of chain in order to hang properly from my existing electrical box. This is a art store that runs by real humans. Ibrahim - the owner of the shop, is extremely knowledgeable about the carpet. When I asked him, which one is your favorite carpet. He paused and told me, this is a hard question, it's as if you are asking "which child is your favorite?" He made me realize every carpet is an individual or a group f individuals who have knotted together for a period of time! Hiwot - who is sometimes at the lamp store, is so sweet and honest when asking her advise. She said when you look at a jewelry, it attracts you, but you may have a different view when you wear it. Ottoman Art is a magic carpet ride. A genuine Turkish Delight hiding in plain sight on St. Helena's Main Street, Highway 29. It's an oasis, like finding hidden rooms in the palace at Topkapi. There's a stunning array of carpets, mosaics, chandeliers, color everywhere. Everything is a distinctive work of art. The owner, Ibrahim, is very personable. This is definitely a place to go for souvenirs and gifts. While the carpets are on the higher end, there are beautiful beaded icons at reasonable prices. This is a quaint little find in St. Helena on the main street and a beautiful surprise awaits you as you enter the store. I bet you thought I'd say it was all of the wonderful Turkish goods on display. That's true but the owner Ibrahim is fantastic and such a beautiful gift to all those who enter the store. He's funny he is engaging and he genuinely wants people to walk out of his store happy with whatever it is that they've bought. I loved the beautiful beautiful mosaic light fittings and wished I had somewhere to put them. Just when you thought your senses can't handle anymore there's a quiet little back room that has the most gorgeous colorful tapestries from Turkey and they are all handmade. Well even better is that they ship and the prices are very affordable. I wasn't able to choose between two huge intricate bedspreads so I bought them both and Ibrahim gave me a great price with free shipping. This place is worth the visit . read more

I recently had a damaged an Iranian rug repaired, and several others cleaned by Ottoman Arts. I could not be more pleased. The damage to my 60 year old rugs is perfect, and impossible to see. Even the middle of a light colored, worn area was restored. On another, the frayed edge was perfectly restored.Over the years my husband and I have had excellent service and bought 5 rugs and one runner and a lamp from Ottoman Arts, and have greatly enjoyed the rugs for their comfort and beauty. Update 4/23/18: I received a message from the owner and really appreciate his reaching out. Apparently this employee I've written about is not the owner and is only there to help for a short time. I will say that their items are gorgeous and it's the very reason I walked into the store so happily. I would like to think this employee is a not a reflection of this small business owner and their success in the community. The owner assured me these views/comments do not reflect his own vision for the business and I hope this was an opportunity for reflections on client relations/who is representing the business and the effect it can have when hiring employees. I would like to add that I hope to be able to visit his store in the future as the lamps/pottery really are astonishing. 4/22/18 Randomly walked in to this shop after being mesmerized by the lamps/colors. However, within a minute of being in the store the main employee came running over screaming at another party looking around for having food with them. I continued to look around a little intimated now and found a few items I really enjoyed. However, within a short period of time the same man (a bald taller male) started a discussion with me that was incredibly problematic. This man very much outed himself as an extremely prejudice person who has horrible things to say about others personal religious beliefs, peoples races and how this attributes to what kind of customer service he would give them. If you want to be a conscious shopper I highly suggest walking away from this store. Felt very uncomfortable supporting someone who so openly and genuinely fuels hate into his business, his attitude with complete strangers, and his firm belief in discrimination. I love this rug shop. The owner, Ibrahim, has extensive inventory and knows his rugs. I was looking for a small rug to match an existing rug and he had several options that I liked. He even let me take the three rugs home so I could better decide between them. I was really impressed by the selection of rugs and fair pricing. I was walking around st Helena main St, on a perfect Saturday morning. It's a great town to relax, especially since you're can enjoy the variety of shops. There's is one in particular that definitely got my interest and attention, with the amazing display of colorful hand made mosaic lamps and gorgeous Turkish rugs and ceramic.
