I like Otto for a quick bite over at the Harvard location. Since my step-sister lives near the Brookline one, I suggested we meet there for lunch. It was not very busy, and we sat at a table. Our waitress was friendly and chatted about their beer options (good choices, if not very many) and some cocktail specials. She was very patient with the fact that we were busy talking and took forever to pick our slices of pizza. The mashed potato is still by far my favorite slice. The others I think I can pass on and get cheaper elsewhere. The one downside to the visit was that I had ordered a chicken and basil slice which had a large piece of chicken bone that I discovered when I painfully bit down on it. The waitress apologized, and the manager came by. But though he was also friendly and apologetic and offered to get a fresh slice (only solution he offered and how would I know a new one wouldn't have bone too???), nothing else was done. I'm a huge sucker for good customer service, and I am saddened that Otto failed me by not offering to comp the slice that tried to break my teeth on the first bite! I mean, I wasn't horrified by it, I *know* chickens have bones and butchers can miss. But a good manager should compensate for problems, even for a customer who doesn't pitch a fit when they alert you to it! At least ask if there's anything you can do... Oh, well. I think I'll probably stick to other spots, and I'll get my mashed potato pizza fix at Harvard! read more

Often have done takeout from here, but last week decided to sit down. The unhappy story recounted by Kathryn Massey on this page rings true, but I had announced my desire to sit down at a table, so never encountered the in-place obstacles. The pizza was very good and of course crisper than after takeout, but my problem was the beer. Otto offers several excellent crafts BUT while they look like pint pours they are not. They are only 14 ounces. Yet to this day you can call up and ask what size the beers are and they'll say, A pint. This cheat has become all too common a practice. Know how to tell? The cheat glass looks to be the same size as a common pint glass, but the bottom inch is filled in with glass, which means the short-fill item weighs more than the real thing. When you lift it the cheat has noticeably more heft. read more

The eggplant ricotta basil pizza IS THE BEST.

The pizza is delicious would definitely drive there just for the pizza again. They had a great beer selection and gourmet pizza was truly one of the best I've ever had for reasonable price. read more

Nice to see another good pizza option is Coolidge Corner. I like the large number of slice options available. I had the Mashed Potato, Bacon and Scallion pizza. A little bland, but not bad. Good layout/seating. read more

Great service and tasty pizza!! The host was genuine and kind to everyone who stepped through the door. We will be back!

The hostess and waitress were very friendly and helpful. The mashed potato, bacon and chives pizza was amazing, and the crust was perfection. If I could give them more stars I would. Easily. read more

Pizza is good, I've found that their pies are better than their to go slices. I'm from NYC so I'm a bit biased, however.

Wow...and I mean wow! This pizza is amazing!! Fresh, fun ingredients perfect crust...pizza just doesn't get any better than this. We tried the mashed potato, bacon and scallion (mashed potatoes on a pizza...what?!?) and Spicy Pulled Pork with Spices. Delicious!! read more

It's either five star pizza or I was really hungry. I do not like Chicago style pizza so this works for me. I love the interior and we went when it wasn't crowded (which is hardly ever). Not sure I'm on board with putting potatoes on everything. It tastes good but why put starch on top of starch? I'll stick with the eggplant/basil creations. OK- twist my arm- I'd eat any of it happily. I love that they are open late. read more

Just as good as the last time we ate here. Last time we were here, we grabbed a slice because the group we were waiting for were all late for the Hibachi next door but we figured since we were so hungry, the pizza was good. In the case of today, it was good, would definitely come back here to try other slices. read more

I was excited about trying Otto since I know a lot of people who really like it and I'm a pretty serious pizza snob (step your pizza game up, Boston, seriously!). I came here with a friend one weeknight around 630 and it was fairly empty, a handful of tables taken and some bar seats, but no problem getting a table. The staff was incredibly friendly which is a really nice change from the usual Boston pace. We split a 16' Ricotta and Basil pizza and though it sounds plain, it was really delicious. The crust was thin and crispy, just like I like it, the basil tasted like they had picked it 30 minutes ago from their garden out back, and the Ricotta was creamy and delicious. The only thing that threw me (hence the -1 star) is that it seemed like the pizza was really greasy, literally small puddles of grease were on top of it. I can see this being standard for meat pies, but for a basic cheese pie it seemed odd. I will definitely come back to Otto as I think it is some of the best pizza in Boston, but I will be sure to ask for lots of napkins! read more

Went to OTTO for lunch today and this is the 4 lath or maybe 5th time I'm eating there. I've always been meaning to write a review but here goes - LOVE. love the location, love the service, love the pizza. We got the mushroom, herb, ricotta and another margarita with veggies on it. Sooooo good! :) read more

We still like it. We have never had bad service and we have been 20 + times. We stick with the large cheese pie to which we add basil. We split one of the simple salads, have a beer and an ice tea. The two times I tried something other than the cheese pie I did not like it. So I can see how there might be a bad food review, but service...(?) always great. read more

The pizza was marginal at best. What really disappointed me was the way we were handled. I assumed it was order at the counter and have a seat. Turns out for table service you have the host seat you. When I asked I was told to order at the counter and then have a seat. Turns out that our pizza came in a take our container and the fenal salad had too much lemon juice. When my mom complained they gave us a bill for another salad. Lots of miscommunication and the person taking our order did not have any product knowledge. All in all a disappointment. I won't be back. read more

Love the pizza but won't go back the girls behind the counter were very rude pizza came out cold so on the next 2 slices I asked her to please cook it a little longer which they didn't do again and if looks could kill I would be dead. One of the girls told the other to stop being mean to the customers so they new it. Someone needs to clean this situation up. read more

I would rather eat at a pizza hut than this place! I came here on a Saturday night with 4 of my friends ( 2 of which recommended it) and the experience made me want to swallow a pack of razor blades. We attempted to get a few drinks from the bar while we waited for our table, which was our first mistake. The bartender was clearly inexperienced and frazzled and could barely remember our order. I ordered one of their specialty "mocktails" which tasted basically like cheap sangria that my grandmother would serve at her bingo tournament. We were sat at our table by some guy whom I presumed to be the manager with grey hair who looked like he just smoked a joint in the back before coming to work. The guy could barely put two intelligible words together. We ordered the mashed potato pizza, which I've heard is unreal. Unfortunately it came out the wrong size. In their defense, we did get a whole new pizza. I think the thing that bothered me most was the fact that when I ordered my beer, I got it in a wine glass? Apparently they ran out of beer glasses? There's like 3 pizza places and a few good restaurants in Coolidge Corner, I say go elsewhere! read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The pizza is always good and it's a fun spot to hang out.

Service at Harvard Square location is the worst....Rude response to asking for a faster pick up......revolving door of employees over the years and soon they will be another pizza option in Square....time for management to fully staff and train their employees in the lost art of customer service....good pies by rest of "experience" is totally lacking in common decency...... read more

Their pizza is delicious, for the most part. The downside is that the options of the day can sometimes be hit or miss. They also don't seem to have parmesan cheese! read more

Excellent thin crust, wonderful flavors and toppings. Especially like the chicken with asiago pizza. Great service too, and salads are full, simple and tasty at a reasonable price. read more

I gave this 5 stars not because the food is perfect but because it's really good and they have a customer is always right policy. It's also cheaper than upper crust! read more

I've been eating out in Coolidge Corner one a week for the past few months, trying restaurant after restaurant and looking for my go-to meals. I enjoyed my pizza at Otto's and am looking forward to comparing against other places in the area. read more

Good thin crust pizza close to BU. Went with a small group and we enjoyed the service.

I would have given Otto's five stars except for an unusual new policy? (I haven't been there in a while).. I ordered one slice of pizza, and the gentleman behind the desk asked me if I wanted to have it to go. I told him that I would be eating it here. When I reached in to my pocket to pay him, he looked at me and didn't reach over to accept the cash. I asked him what was the problem and he replied, 'well in order to sit down you you have to pay your server.' Adam said well I'll just sit at the bar (which was empty), and he replied, "but then you would have to tip the bartender." A woman came up right after me and had the same concern. Honestly, I paid nearly four dollars for a slice of pizza, I didn't want to have to pay more just to have a seat.. I finally asked him if I can pay now, and he took my cash, albeit begrudgingly. I sat at one of the high top tables and ate my pizza (which was good). When I got up to leave I noticed that there were no trash cans anywhere. I stared at the gentleman behind the cashier and I felt that he was not interested in helping me, even though it was obvious I was looking for a trash can. (By the way, there was no line). Then a very kind waitress came up to me with a smile and asked if she could take the paper plate, and I thanked her very much. Of course I will go back to Ottos because I like their pizza and we must support our Brookline restaurants! :) I just wish that there was some flexibility with eating a slice of pizza at Otto's especially when it's not that crowded. read more

Best pizza in Boston. Favorite is the dried cranberries, ricotta cheese, and butternut squash. Pretty much any pizza is delicious and look forward to trying all the flavors. read more

I walked by this place every day on the way home from work and it always smelled delicious and always busy. That's usually a pretty good sign that a place is good. So my girlfriend and I finally decided to give it a try and had a good, yet interesting experience. First, I don't know what's with the tap water there but it tastes kind of funny for being served in a corked bottle. I didn't get sick so it wasn't a big deal. The first thing that struck me with the menu was the fact that everything on it to me looked appealing. All the pizzas sounded great, so I went with the one that satisfied my caloric need for the time: the mashed potato, bacon and scallion (with white sauce). After we ordered we noticed it started to take awhile for us to get our pizza. Our waitress apologized and informed us there was an issue with their system and the order was never put in. Annoying, but then she offered some meatballs on the house. We weren't in a hurry so that actually worked out pretty well! Except they ran out of meatballs and offered us salads, something just as tasty and satisfying.........the salad was okay but didn't taste nearly as well as I imagined the meatballs would have. But hey, they tried so I couldn't blame her for that. Then the pizza finally came out. It was rich and tasty, exactly what I was looking for. I was very satisfied with my meal. My girlfriend got the gluten free pizza (because she is gluten intolerant, not an obnoxious health nut), and it was pretty good! I would definitely recommend this place for people looking for a good slice of pizza. read more

Huge hype and pretty much lives up to it. The place is jammed typically so take out is a better option. Loved the inventive topping combos but agree there's way too much black pepper added to finish. read more

So many different types of pizza! Super creative and very yummy although kind of expensive. They also deliver!!

My friend and I came here with a mean hangover and it was so so good. So good. We each made our own pizzas and our waitress was really nice. Zero things to complain about. read more

Delicious pies, and the meatballs are super good too. Also decent beer selection. Will go back again soon.

Always has and always will be the best and most creative pizza I've had. Their crust and tomato sauce is a great combination on any pizza, and they always have interesting specials with unique ingredients. Staff is incredibly friendly at all locations I've been to (Maine and Massachusetts) read more

Great pizza. Great service. Took a recommendation from our server about the siracha chicken pizza and was not disappointed. Will be back.

I like different styles of pizza, so like Otto along with Stoked, Upper Crust, and Uno, tho different kinds at each place. Love Otto's mushroom and cauliflower--my fave, and like their chewy crust. Sausage and vidalia very good, but I don't care for canned tomatoes on pizza. Very thin sliced eggplant had no flavor on one. Too much ricotta in large clumps on all the pizzas, and the butternut and cranberry too sweet. I think the pepperoni pizza at Upper Crust across the street in Coolidge Corner is better than Otto's. Both are great for quick slices, unless it's late and they're dried out--more of a problem w Otto than UC. read more

Great pizza, fair pricing (except a little too much for the gluten free option), novel options, and a overall great time!

We went tonight with our two daughters, one who has celiac and is diary-free. The staff could not have been better. The hostess answered her questions and then pulled in the manager who answered more questions. Once seated, our waitress (Lydia) was amazing. She carefully explained that they made the GF pizza in a separate section and then had the manager make the pizza himself!. Our pizza (non-GF) was delicious. We had the sangria special that was a good summer drink. The GF pizza was good and my daughter was excited to be able to get both GF bacon and pepperoni. Family friendly. Awesome. read more

I don't care that it's a chain, it's delicious. Cheap slices too $3.50 for a monster slice. Awesome atmosphere. Great staff
