There's a lot to like about this store, for sure. Really appreciate the layout, there's plenty of space to try things on and dig through the racks, which are organized well by color and also type of garment. There's a wide selection and healthy mix of high end brand names mid-range stuff from Zara, Liz Claiborne, etc. Prices here are kind of all over the place -- used t-shirts priced at $25 are an insane concept for me to wrap my head around, but then you'll find a Christian Dior trenchcoat for $115...like what? My friend and I did insanely well here though, she got the cutest pair of lace up plaid shoes for like $30 (people on Depop were selling the same pair for $125 used). I walked out with a real Italian lamb leather jacket for $55 - so good that my dry cleaner was literally shocked at the price tag I'd left on when I brought it to him for a cleaning. After a few recent disappointing visits to thrift stores in Manhattan, I was so pleasantly surprised by this store. The space is amazing - light filled and spacious which makes for a pleasant browsing experience. There are numerous and large fitting rooms which is unusual in these types of stores. Clothing is arranged by color, which is aesthetically pleasing but a little tougher to find things versus size sorting. They do have separate racks for plus sizes so that can help. In terms of selection, it was much more robust than what I have seen in subpar shops lately, a healthy mix of basics but also some fun things that I haven't seen elsewhere,, like crazy patched jackets and colorful jumpsuits. I did surprisingly well in my haul, almost bought an award dinner appropriate dress, and actually bought a dress and two sweaters. Prices are okay, not super bargains but not "I can't believe they're selling used clothes for these prices" either. Overall, I would absolutely return to this shop and it's worth the long schlep out. read more

Had an experience with my mother and I- both asked to leave our purses at the door and confused why since our personal belongings were in them (two black women with small/medium baggu purses) and watched at least 3 other costumers in the store (all non black; one also carrying the same size baggu bag) walk into the door and freely shop without question. This place is a gem, I understand the hype now. My favorite part of this spot is the color coded organization. I found several brands including Marc Jacobs, Supreme and Off White. I used to live on this block a good 8 years ago so when a friend said there was a great thrift spot to sell my designer pieces on Troutman I did not believe her. The line was short so I gave it a go on a weekday and was I surprised. They took almost everything I had and offered 30% which is just like the other spot I used to go to regularly (won't call them out) but stopped because I did not agree with their pricing for my high end pieces. The best part was that the staff were so nice inside! The clothing was also labeled well, the racks were tidy, and they had a great mix of seasonal items, I'm sure readers know what I mean when I seemed surprised by their attitudes if consignment is part of your seasonal purge. No one likes to wait for hours only to be looked up and down by a mismatched-clothed toddler who wouldn't know designer if it hit them in the face, and be judged by the names on their tags. That's not my idea of a Sunday. The good news is that doesn't happen at OPC. I hope it doesn't get too packed because I loved how quickly I got in and out of there, but I look forward to continuing to sell my stuff at the shop. read more

I am generally a fan of Other People's Clothes and have gotten some cute pieces there over the years. I have also sold clothes there a few times, but the last time I did it, I was annoyed at the process. I dropped my bag off and chose to get a text when it was ready and when it was, they told me they didn't want any of my stuff. Normally that would be fine, but I had two things in particular I REALLY thought they would want: some snakeskin pants from a very nice brand, and a vintage pink leather jacket in perfect condition. So when I took the bag back, I saw that everything was folded in the exact same way I had loaded the bag - it was clear they had not even looked through my stuff. I don't think I will bother trying to sell here again because I feel like they wasted my time. read more

While I love thrifting, I'm often turned off by many thrift stores in the city. I find them to be too curated and overpriced which in my eyes defeats the purpose of thrifting to begin with. I wandered into other people's clothes for a friend but ended up very pleasantly surprised. The items here aren't too pricey and are all in great condition. It's also organized by size. I believe they have deals depending on the day/week so you can get things discounted more as well. Definitely will be back as I think it's a good option for when you want to thrift but don't want to dedicate hours sifting through piles at Goodwill. read more

This place is cute . I loved the interior and how beautiful and modern it was . The dressing room was amazing lol such a cute spot to take pictures . Now the clothes I was able to find a pair of jeans for 14 bucks I think ? Really good jeans and I did appreciate the fact that they had all inclusive sizes . What bothered me though was their curvy rack . Out of the whole store there was only 2 racks . And one of the racks was completely dark clothes/ black clothes . Us curvy women love color too . I would have like to have more racks but you know I'm grateful they even have one . I feel you can come here and always walk out with a gem . I would def be back read more

Previously I gave a 4 star review, I have sold them clothing numerous times-- the last 2 times have been terrible-- last two times I got the same guy-- the first time he goes thru my clothes without even looking at them and was just no down the line ( all the clothes were BRAND NEW with tags) i get they don't take everything but they WERE ITEMS IN SEASON--- he just was not paying attention he barely would look at the stuff, each item he glanced at maybe a half of second. HE TOOK ONE ITEM OUT MY ENTIRE CART OF BRAND NEW WITH TAGS NAME BRAND CLOTHES. he took the only item that was for men ONLY. . FINE --I cant win them all-- I was aggravated but I didn't think too much about it. NEXT TIME--- AGAIN ITS THIS GUY--- I get there at 6:30 on Sunday 10/19 they close at 9pm-- the site says come before 8pm to bring clothes--- I ALSO CALL AHEAD -- WHEN I ARRIVE ITS "that SAME GUY" As soon as he sees me he's staring at me-- perhaps he thinks I'm someone else -- I dunno-- I am with my mother and as soon as we reach the counter he throws his arm down in front of us and tells us that he's not buying anymore clothes after the woman IN FRONT OF ME-- Mind you --- I am there an hour and a half BEFORE the cut off for buying clothes -- which is 2 and a half hours before closing. I ALSO CALLED AHEAD AND HE IS CLOSING EARLY ON ME NOW He asks if I want to leave my stuff and theyll look at them tomorrow-- mind you if you don't get there in time -- they donate ALL YOUR CLOTHES...or they can "buy your stuff" for whatever price they want and sell it before you even get back--- if your not there and if your not happy with what they paid you "that's too bad" SOOO I NEVER LEAVE MY STUFF THERE-- I always supervise. Also too many reviews complain that they don't get all there stuff back when they leave it there-- AND THATS IF THEY GET ANY OF IT BACK So me and my elderly mother had to bring all the clothes ALL THE WAY BACK HOME. Bc THEY DECIDED TO STOP TAKING CLOTHES AN HOUR AND A HALF EARLY WITH A LINE OF PEOPLE THAT WAS WAITING. EVEN WITH ME HAVING CALLED AHEAD !!! Why have hours if you don't abide by them???? To have people travel all the way there and then close the line early after calling ahead is not right. read more

Very cool selection. Very nice staff. Always a fun time to visit this store and the other locations. I've found quite a few very special pieces here, unique. I also have multiple bottles of the nail polish brand they sell. In my opinion for a non-gel regular polish it lasts pretty well. Also purchased lemon shaped soaps during the holidays for cute small gifts, so this is a great place for gift shopping. read more

I'll be honest: I was not interested in OPC when they first opened. Bushwick has enough overpriced thrift stores, why would we need another one? Aaaand then I heard they buy clothes, including some fast fashion. I took two bags here and was pleasantly surprised with the amount they bought. I looked around after, and was further surprised to see a plus-size section AND affordable, reasonable prices. Also, all of the employees are total sweethearts. Love the store and today really made my day, seeing the short guy with Curly hair I think his name is Markell and it was such a breath of fresh air with his presence and I had to thank him for how he always made me feel whenever I come to the store either to buy or simply browse. Soooo came to NYC only to bring summer clothes and discovered NYC wants to dump rain over me lol. I had dresses and dresses and heels! For the first time in about 5 years I purchased some jeans and khaki pants for the week. The best $22 bucks I ever spent. Im so glad my Bushwick friend brought me here to see if we could find something for me to wear. She found an awesome little red dress! Both selling and buying here is so good! Short wait times to sell and they are always so diligent with sorting through your stuff and giving you a receipt of things they bought - I love it. The prices for buying are incredible - both the Ridgewood and Bushwick location are full of great pieces. Staff is incredible, everyone is super sweet. Good job guys. read more

Never fuckin sell at this place. Brought in a pair of jeans to see how much I could get for them. When they offered me $5 (they retailed for $100), I said I would just take them back instead. Stopped by this week for the first time to shop and sell. Every employee I interacted with was so friendly and the store is beautiful-spacious, bright, and clean. Merchandised nicely and everything is neatly displayed by category and color. Found several cute pieces that I used store credit for, and walked out with some cash as well.
