It's a small space inside, its walls lined with colorful clothing, and centered with a large, family-style table with more clothing, apparel, pins, books, and more. To put it plainly, this is a Williamsburg hipster's paradise. Would describe Grand Street Local as the in-between low-cost thrift stores like Goodwill and high-end consignment stores like Ina. The shirts can vary from $30-$60, but the clothing is some of the best quality that I've seen of any other thrift store. Everything from old band t shirts to New York City-emblazoned sweatshirts to Levi's jeans. They also have really cool vintage college gear from all over the country, even University of Illinois, my sports school. If you need to try on the clothing before buying, there is a small changing room in the back near a glass case of old school shoes. On top of that, Grand Street Local has a decent inventory of old records, scarves, blankets, hats, and more. Though I didn't buy anything, think this store had some gems that more people should be swiping.

I actually saw numerous things I would gladly rock, but some of it seems a bit pricey. For instance, when did shorts start going for $70 on the regular? They are half the size of pants, and my pants don't cost that much. At least this pair didn't, but that's probably because I've been wearing them since 8th grade.* ID is definitely worth a look for hats, shoes, shirts, and more. In it, I found something that's extremely rare for me on Bedford: clothes for sale that I would actually wear. _________ *I used to be with it, then they changed what "it" was. I mean, it's not your $5 stop shop, but you really get some quality authentic pieces for a great price. I found the most perfect pair of red trousers for $35. I wont even have to get them tailored and I'm 5ft!!! Listen, there's an amazing selection of clothes that you can tell was thoughtfully picked out for the store. The woman working was super attentive, but not overbearing. She noticed I was carrying a few items and kindly asked if I wanted to put them by the dressing room. The decor was inspiring, there were incenses going and Solange's album playing in the background. I basically never wanted to leave. Definitely recommend and definitely going back!! And thank you to the woman who was working! Your outfit was poppin girl!

When she brought this to the attention of the manager, she was incredibly unapologetic, cold, and offered no compensation for the broken shoes. When you make a significant purchase from a curated consignment store, you expect a certain level of reliability and quality from the products. We were incredibly disappointed with the customer service and durability of this store's products and will certainly not be going back again.

I think I'm in the minority here thinking Monk is a decent thrift store. I hate to be this person…read morebut I'll cop to getting skeeved out by used clothing stores because I've read too much about people getting hand foot mouth disease from those bins. Does everyone shop with rubber gloves on in these stores? I don't like the funk that a lot of thrift stores have either. HOWEVER I'm fully on board with not shopping fast fashion and buying second hand being a better alternative, so I'm trying to find a happy medium. At least Monk feels curated such that I don't feel like I have to dig too much before I find something cute. And I saw several cute items at this store. Yes, I usually do spend like $40+ on an item from here but that's less than I'd spend on a new item. I found a gorgeous mesh and beaded dress and a silk skirt that I still cherish from here. You may have to come back regularly to get lucky and find something you like, but I think they have a pretty wide selection of items. Lately I've opted to mostly rent my clothes so I still get the experience of having new clothes without buying new fast fashion but during the occasional thrift sojourn I'll stop in here to browse.

What makes Stella Dallas Living stand apart is all the rugs and blankets in the store. They also have a small selection of clothing, but I found their sister store next door had even more.
