I was referred to Rite Choice by a friend, who said that I could buy a car reasonably from them…read morewith a hassle-free experience. That was not the case at all. I purchased a car on January 13th, 2026 and within a week, the engine power would decrease and the car started slowing down. On February 2nd, the car stopped on me on I-294, and I had to have it towed back to the dealership. Niko told me that it was a throttle, they tried to fix it, and the same issue happened. He then told me that they had the car towed to a "specialist mechanic". Mind you, I had to call several times over a couple of days to learn this information, however, I was never told where this mechanic was located. Also, even though the mechanic said the transmission needed to be replaced, Niko was still saying it was the battery. After finally receiving the number to the "specialist mechanic", I called and he shared the process to get the repairs on my car approved. On February 18th, I received a text from him saying that the part will take a minimum of 10 business days to come in and once the car is ready they will let me know. After waiting, I texted and called on March 3rd asking if there was an update on the car. I could tell that the mechanic saw my message but he never responded. I then received a call on March 5th from another mechanic stating that a diagnostic had been done on the car and they needed another $3,000 to fix it because my warranty only covered $2,000. I told him that I no longer wanted the car and I would call the dealer. I called Rite Choice and was told by Moe to have the finance company call the dealership and they would take care of it. I called the finance company and they said that even though the car was sitting in the mechanic's shop for a month at that point, and I only drove it for two weeks, I still need to pay for it and they are not calling the dealership. (Over the course of several days, I wasn't told the location of my car. Finally, a week later, I was told that my car was at a diagnostic facility in Chicago and would be returned to the specialist mechanic in Hobart, IN the next day.) I was also told by the finance company that I needed to pay over $1,500 in storage fees for the mechanic. I told them that I'm not paying and I didn't send the car to that mechanic, Niko did. I called Niko back to tell him what transpired and he asked what I wanted him to do. I told him what I wanted: to have that car taken off of my credit, for Rite Choice to work something out with the finance company like he initially said, and to tell the finance company to get the car from the mechanic. That was March 10th. I have yet to receive a call from Niko and as far as I know, the car is still at the mechanic. I ultimately had to get another car, but I still have the finance company calling and emailing me multiple times each day and I have yet to receive a call from Niko regarding the issue. As an aside, on March 6th Niko agreed to give me another car, but I had to come in by 5:30. I drove during a torrential rainstorm to get there, and he then asked for more money. When I told him that I didn't have any (still taking ubers to work because the car that I purchased was at a mechanic's shop), he said, "You make $XXX each month. What do you do with your money? Just throw it away?" I told him that I have obligations and we're not discussing that. He then asked for money for the license plates of whatever I get. Again, I told him no. His statement about what I make each month was completely inappropriate and he was acting as if he just wanted money for anything at that point. This experience has been very frustrating and if I could give this business 0 stars, I would.
