I needed some brake work, and searched at 5 different places in Joliet. I chose this one, and am so thankful that I did. Not only was the work excellent and at best price, but Chris the owner showed me the worn brake parts and why i did not need to replace the caliper. He saved me hundreds of dollars of unnecessary work that other shops had suggested. I started coming here for auto repairs several years ago and had good experiences. Then last year they charged me $500 for a water pump where they also removed the AC compressor and put in a replacement pully that they did not line up properly, it was visibly misaligned. The serpentine belt squealed badly on startup and they said it would quiet down. It took under a mile for the serpentine belt to fly off. They did not credit me with a core charge for the AC compressor. A second trip in did get the pully aligned. Then a few months later I went in for wheel bearings on the front. There were bad squealing noises on right turns afterwards, immediately. It took two more trips to their shop to get the wheel bearing fixed properly. I'm feeling like I need to find another shop. read more

I was in a bind during a long haul drive back in April when my vehicle sustained some body damage (dislodged wheel well cover) before I arrived to Joliet, IL for my overnight stop. I spent the evening of my arrival calling local dealerships trying to price the fix and appointment availability. I was not able to find an appointment that would give me the ability to maintain my trip schedule so opted to try AD based on Yelp reviews. I arrived first thing the next morning and met with the owner. He advised because it was a body issue he may not be able to fix it but was willing to take a look. He took my car in immediately and had a technician review the damage. He indicated he could provide a fix that would get me more than safely to my destination with no further issue. He advised the technician on the repair which was completed within minutes. The owner completed the repair and insisted on no payment from me. I was literally in tears and humbled by his act of kindness and generosity. He alleviated my fears and ensured I arrived to my destination safely. What a good feeling to know you have a mechanic you can actually trust! I sent my son there with his PT Cruiser on the recommendation of a friend. He got outstanding service. The repair was actually a little LESS than the quote, and he was told what he needed repaired but could hold off on for a while for his budget. I have talked to him about my VW. We were impressed by his extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for VWs in general. I just called him to set up an evaluation for it, should I replace or repair? When I told him I had a quote from the dealership, he started laughing. He got where I was coming from immediately. Recently used AD for a brake job and they were just awesome. I spoke with Mark on the phone prior to arriving and he gave me a quote, much lower than surrounding shops for a better quality product. I arrived 10 mins later and they got me right in. Not only that, but it was 90 degrees out and they offered to drive my kids and I home so we didn't have to sit and wait for 2 hrs. They were very nice and gave me a good price and completed the work earlier than promised. I also had an engine code issue that they checked for me and they printed out the explanation. I asked if the problem is covered under my extended warranty and he said it is and that I should make sure the dealership does it. He could have said, "no I don't think it is covered" and convinced me to let them do it, but he didn't. I would not hesitate to have Auto Doc work on my car again. read more

What a relief - and answer to prayer - to find this business! My wife was driving to Detroit, alone with our 15-month-old daughter, to visit family. Near Joliet the car started to overheat; she called me, I did a quick search on Yelp and came across these guys. My wife gave them a call - they said come right over and they would help her immediately. That's just what they did - found the problem (fins on radiator had bent), fixed it for a very reasonable price and far more quickly than they had originally thought, and sent her on her way. This is one of those scenarios that often are nightmares; repair shops taking advantage of someone in a vulnerable situation, parts that take days to arrive, mechanics pushing repairs that aren't needed, etc. Fortunately for us it couldn't have turned out better. The owner of this place was so very rude...I had my Kia Sorento pulled up there and talked to two very nice guys who worked there..When I called the next day the owner answered and I told him I was inquiring about my car..He stated that my engine was torn apart and missing some parts..I said no sir my friends husband who happens to be a mechanic just looked at it..He stated well you have to give me $150 for me to put it back together then I can go from there and let you know what the problem is?? So I hung up and called my friend to tell him what he said and he said ask him how much for labor and is there a warranty on parts..I called the owner back and asked him this and he actually went ballastic!! He told me he did not want to do the work and for me to come and pick my truck up?? I said you are being very unprofessional and he said can you just come get your vehicle..I do not know what I said that would warrant this type of behavior but I know a lot of people in Joliet who I will let know NEVER go to this place of business!! This place is fantastic I would recommend it to anyone who is having car trouble in Joliet! I was making a trip but I had to stop in at Joliet because my car starting shaking and I could barely get over 40mph. I looked at the reviews and called a couple mechanics to see if they good look at it this late in the day. Sure enough I call these guys and they got me in right away and had the problem with minutes. A spark plug was miss firing and a gasket was leaking. Brought my car in to have its breaks checked after hearing some squeaking. The folks at Auto Doc were super friendly and were able to look at my car as soon as I dropped it off the next morning. Within a couple of hours they called to let me know that the pads were fine and the occasional noise was just a little corrosion on the rotors. Best of all they charged me nothing to look at it!
