Wanted a diabetic eye exam. Was told I needed a vision exam first and then would have to come back a different day for the eye exam. I did not want a regular eye exam. They said I had to do both. Gave them my vision and medical insurance cards. Dr was nice and glasses were reasonably price. Next exam was a month away. The day before they called and said that someone marked down I was self pay. Um no. Oh we need your insurance. No you have it and when I was in a photo of it was taken. Oh must be we are out of network then and I would have to pay the entire cost out of pocket as they wouldn't do the paperwork for me to get reimbursed. By this time wasn't going to argue so I just told her to cancel the appointment. She said ok and hung up. Went elsewhere with no issue at all. I went somewhere else and was able to get just a diabetic eye exam with no proof that I had a regular eye exam. They wasted my time. I have since dropped the vision insurance. Since I know now both eye exams are not required like this told me they were, I will go elsewhere. read more

Patient care is not a top priority. Trial lenses take a week or more to get, patient needs are not met in a timely fashion and after many years, I am leaving the practice. Fed up with the unorganized way the practice is run. read more

The doctor that did the examination. The problem started when I went to get measured for glasses. I got measured and bought an expensive pair of glasses. When I asked for the information regarding the glasses I just bought I was denied the measurements. I then I let them know that I thought that was wrong. Then I was given a bogus measurement. I called to revisit the measurements and was told they would not give them to me. I only asked for the pupillary distance and was denied. They have lost a patient over this issue. I would understand them not wanting to help me if I was not a buyer. This was truly disappointing after just spending $500 on glasses. They have just lost a customer for good. D.W.O read more

Disappointed. I've been coming here for 11 years. Since Dr. Hine has left the receptionists have becoming increasingly rude. After being treated this way for multiple appointments over the past year, my family and I have decided to take our business elsewhere. Dr. Thomas and the staff were all incredible. They took extreme precautions to make me feel safe throughout my exam by sanitizing everything. I had to get my year supply of contacts and glasses and they had a wide variety of glasses to choose from and they had trial of some of the contacts I was interested in they they allowed me to try on for a week which I was able to purchase after I was happy with the ones I liked. read more

Dr Russell left, new doctors in town. All 3 kids have ortho-K lenses. 1st kid this year went in for eye exam, perfect vision, no deficiency. New optometrist did not even look at the lenses since our daughter did not have them in a solution long enough. That is ok, BAM! $500 charge for ortho-k refit. Called the office, they cannot explain the increase from $400 to $500 in a year.. even $400 was a hard pill to swallow. Other 2 kids had the ortho-k lenses for multiple years, it was $400 for 'ortho-k refit', I have statements. They are suppose to look at the old hard contact for 3 minutes to keep the measurement updated? Nothing has changed, it is the same contact measurement that you should have on file from previous year. This is a scam at $500. read more

Dr. Hein has been my eye-doc ever since I was a wee little lass. From the first location on main street, he gave me my first pair of glasses. From the location on Route 34, round the corner, he gave me my first pair of hard contacts and then my first pair of soft contacts. The new location out on Templeton is so beautiful and comfortable. Now, he doesn't do it all by himself. Oh no. They ladies that work there are awesome. And most of them have been there for years and years. It truly is the only place i can go to where they actually recognize me and ask after the rest of my family. I know other docs working with Dr. Hein have come and go, but he's truly the best. He's pretty matter of fact and will take the time to explain things IF YOU ASK. Otherwise, if you don't, he'll give you what you need and send you on your way. Always ask questions. read more

For most of us our optometrist is picked out by our insurance carriers, and is picked by selecting a name from a website. I admit, this is how I picked out this place, but I was pleasantly surprised by the great personal service I received here. As a women who wear glasses, the selection can be daunting and overwhelming. I tried on about 30 pairs of glasses; however, I never felt rushed or that I was an imposition on them. The prices are a bit expensive for frames, so if you do not have insurance or great eye coverage be cautious. I will be a returning customer to this place :) read more

I had to take my 8 month old son with me for my appointment at Oswego Vision Ltd. The front office staff were so friendly and accommodating of the situation. One of the staff even offered to watch my son while I had my eyes examined. He was perfectly content for them while I had my eyes examined. My appointment was with Dr. Frassato. She was prompt, friendly, and professional. I explained that I get my eyes examined yearly and wear my contacts 95% of the time and glasses only before bed and first thing in the morning. Since I had just purchased new glasses the prior year, I told her I was only interested in a prescription for contacts. She didn't pressure me into getting new glasses which was great. To my relief, my prescription had barely changed from the prior year. I went home with a new pair of contacts and an order for a six month supply that would be delivered to my home. The contacts arrived within about 3 business days in the mail. Overall, I'm very pleased with the friendly prompt service and will definitely be back for glasses and contacts next year. read more

Good doctors, but not a huge fan of the glasses department. Had to make an appointment for what used to be able to be done with a walk in. Arrived for my 2:30 appointment and was told that they had me down for 3:30 so I could come back or maybe get squeezed in if they had time. Their mistake led to my time being wasted. read more

I have been coming to this vision center for over 14 years. All I wanted to do was make an appointment. I was asked my birthdate and type of insurance. I gave them the 3 insurances I have. On 2 of the insurances they already had the information but the 3rd is new and I didn't have the group number. The woman there would not make the appointment until I gave her the group number which I didn't have with me. Did she need my DNA too before I could get an appointment? Very upset with the way they run things. I called to set up appointment and told them who my insurance was. When I arrived for appointment I filled out proper first time paperwork. After everything was done they told me I owe $397.00. I told them I gave info on phone and I always pay the difference. They said since my husband is a laborer that we pay upfront and get refunded from insurance. I said in the 28 1/2 years with this insurance we have never had to do this. They said they do this with laborers. I asked why and they said this is how they do this with just them. I asked why I was not informed before coming in since I did tell them who my insurance was and they had no answer. How do you pick and choose who pays and who does not when you have good insurance? I felt very discriminated against and upset about this. Not a good way to run a business. If you have insurance then everybody should be treated the same. Be careful upon going here. I saw Dr. Russell personally and I have been a patient that needs a little extra work and he has been very patient with me. I went in to order more contacts but because my prescription was expiring in 3 days they would not fill it even though it is still valid. I also witnessed the receptionist forge the optometrist's signature on my prescription (she signed it right in front of me before handing me my copy). Needless to say, I went elsewhere who gladly complied with a valid prescription and will not be back to Oswego Vision. It is the 5 star reviews that got me in Dr. Hein's clinic. It turned out to be the most devastating experience of all time. Dr. Hein gets agitated with kids easily especially if there is more than one patient. He has no compassion for kids or understanding that they get a little scared when in the clinic. I had to file a complaint with a state of Illinois, and it turned out he has been under disciplinary action by the state in the past. read more

I was told the charge for contact exam would be about $85 plus some additional amount which they could not be sure of because "some people" require extensive additional testing. .That should have been a The actual amount turned out to be $200 (235% difference). I have always had normal healthy eyes and so Im not sure, nor was I told why my exam cost so much more. I would advice you to find a doctor that can be more reliable in explaining their costs. Also my contacts cost 150 each when the same thing online cost 40..why some much more? read more
