Dr. Russell began by ruling out several possible diagnoses before determining her eye injury and then worked to find the cause. They recently moved to a larger space but are still very centrally located just across the street from the Trader Joe's/ Colonial Cafe mall. Dr. Russell is hands down, the best. I hate the process of, "Which one is clearer, 1 or 2?" I always leave feeling I've chosen the wrong one. I can say with confidence I chose correctly during this visit. Dr. Russell was very clear explaining all of my options. I now feel I have a plan that will provide optimal vision for my individual situation. With regard to the optical shop, the women who assisted me in selecting frames gave me great feedback on what looked good on me, and why. I went to this optometrist based on all these positive reviews many years ago but don't understand the hype. The front desk staff were welcoming and nice enough but the optometrist who saw me (I'm assuming Dr Butz?) was sarcastic and not very nice. I've seen quite a few eye doctors throughout my life and this was definitely not the best experience. One example: When I mentioned I have dry eyes occasionally, he asked me questions whether I kept my contacts in overnight, etc. and I told him I do sometimes. Then he goes, "Hmmm, you keep your contacts in at night sometimes, I wonder why your eyes could possibly be dry." Who knows, maybe I caught him on an off day. He was professional enough but I didn't appreciate the sarcastic remarks. Four stars for nice front desk staff and getting my prescription right, that's all you need right? :) read more

Great service & Stands behind warranties Dr. Butz and his office staff provide wonderful service and treat patients as family. The eye exams are not your typical quick in & out exams, let's sell you glasses and move on to the next patient. The eye exams and testing are very thorough and a good exam should take about an hour. As a patient, my frames came with a two year warranty and I was very pleased to say Dr. Butz stands behind the products he sells and happily replaced my frames at no additional charge. They have a large selection of frames too, nice frames at that - and designer brands that we all know. read more

The visit today was fantastic!! I didn't have to wait, all my questions were answered, and billing was explained down to every detail. Doctor Richard Butz went above and beyond to make sure my eye health was checked to the best of his ability. He took his time and I didn't feel rushed like in many other Eyecare offices. Everyone was very friendly, courteous and did all they could to make me happy, and my needs taken care of. Doctor's assistant (I hope that's correct) Sarah was super helpful, friendly and made sure I left having no more questions about the visit or billing. She helped me pick out the frames, and different options for the lenses. There was absolutely no pressure to buy this or that, or sign up for any additional services. Dr Richard Butz, Janet Foy, and Linda are amazing! On a Friday evening at 4:45 pm my contact rolled up and got stuck in my upper eyelid. I was need of an eye doctor to help remove it. I called several locations but no place I called had a doctor available until I called Professional Eyecare Center. They could have said that they couldn't help me as it was a few minutes before closing, but instead they said they would wait for my arrival. I was greeted with a warm welcome by Janet & Linda. And then Dr Richard Butz came into the room within a minute into my arrival. He was so kind and helpful. I am not even a client and they treated me as if I had been going to this location for years. He removed my contact and didn't charge me for my emergency need. I cannot speak highly enough of the professionalism and kindness from everyone in this office. Excellent optometrist! The only one that I will go to from now on. I have recently developed vision problems. I've seen two other optometrists and neither of which could "fully" satisfy my concerns. They both seemed to know what they were talking about and helped with what they could. Dr. Butz was VERY thorough. He took his time and explained everything he was looking at and looking for. In the end, I walked out of that office much happier about my vision issues than when they had started, four years ago. Super nice guy too, if that's what's important to you.
