This cozy neighborhood place accommodated our group of 9 for a fun birthday celebration. The staff is extremely efficient and helpful in a way that gives the impression they're anxious to turn the table. The food was unremarkable and yet the place was full.
Nando is the sweetest! We walked up and he greeted us at the door. Looking at the full patio I told him we had been hoping for a table outdoors. He said "give me a minute," and in just that time he and a couple of other guys brought out a table and 2 chairs and set us right up. So sweet! We ordered the seared scallops appetizer, and for entrees the Boeff Bourguignon and the Lamb chops. For drinks, the house martini and the cucumber basil martini. They initially brought me the cucumber basil sangria and I just thought they ran out of martini glasses so I didn't say anything...even though they served it on ice. I drank nearly half of it before asking Nando what it was. He said "what did you order?" When I told him he said "then we will give you cucumber basil martini!" When I asked again what was in my glass, he said "I don't know what that is but you did pretty good!" Oop. He generously comped me the martini. And also brought us Creme de Menthe when we finished our meals. So sweet. All in all, fantastic experience. Eclectic for sure. From an Osteria we expected Italian food but the menu was largely French. Yet the website describes the restaurant as Mediterranean and, indeed, they did serve us pita and tzatziki. The food was very good and the service was special. Thank you for a great night of dining. We hope to make it back soon.
I seriously don't know why I don't come to Osteria Nando more often! They have the best service and very accommodating and to top off, the food is delicious! We went with a group of 5 persons on a Friday night, and we had some accommodations that we needed, such as vegan options and catering to fully cooked dishes. Our main server, Davide was excellent in making sure we were taken care of! We ordered Octopus in tomato sauce, truffle fries (vegan! No cheese), eggplant hummus, escargot, chicken parm, braised short ribs, cauliflower vegan bowl, mushroom vegan bowl and the vegan ravioli. Wow! All of the dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious and on point! We all loved the bowls (obviously!) and the braised short ribs were major highlights. The chicken parm was delicious but the portion was so small. Not enough chicken parm and too much pasta. On top of it all, Davide gave us tiramisu and grappa to end our wonderful evening. Excellent vegan options and we will surely be back!

Osteria Nando leads with a pan-European tagline, boasting French, Italian, Mediterranean cuisine. Uhhh what? Food was decent. The burrata starter tasted fresh and wasn't over-garnished. The entrees, however, left something to be desired. The seafood risotto was rich with seafood, which was a nice contrast from some of the stingier seafood dishes in other restaurants. But overall, it was heavy without a lot of flavor. And the cacio e pepe was not especially noteworthy, outside of some pepper and LOTS of salt. Service was great, everyone was super attentive and friendly. The space itself feels a bit like an old Italian (and French? and Mediterranean?) restaurant, with dim lighting, dark wood furniture, and wine bottles lining the walls. Might be a nice choice for a dinner, but prepare for heavy dishes that won't necessarily stand out.

Pay in cash to avoid a 4% fee. Gratuity of 22% for our large party. The food was great and the service was great for our party of 16 or so for Easter brunch. They start you off with pita bread and a ranch like spread. I got a Brussel sprouts hash from the brunch menu - it was tasty and the potatoes were nicely seasoned as well. My friend got the salmon benedict which came with a spicy aioli that paired nicely with these potatoes even if they may not have been intended for it. I also sampled the seafood risotto (good) and the squid ink pacherri carbonara which may have been my favorite. It is a small portion but filling due to the creaminess. Most of us also got dessert. The Paris brest filling was nutty and tasty although I'm not the biggest fan of eclairs. The chocolate souffle was gooey and the ricotta pistachio cake was delicate with moist cake layers that will appeal to those who doesn't want anything too sweet. Will come back again to try more things.
Picture this: you just spent your whole Saturday at the MET, and you and your friends are starving. It's 7:30 pm (prime dinner time) and you made no dinner reservations. The restaurant you were originally gonna go to just gave you a 90 minute wait. You're searching for another restaurant to go to, and your friend finds an upper scale Italian place across the street. You go "Well, what other options do we have?" And you decide to check it out. That was the situation me and my two buddies were in last night. We were tired, hungry, and kinda demoralized. So when we walked into Osteria Nando and were seated right away (despite it being a busy Saturday night) we knew we were in for a treat. Service was beyond impeccable. Despite it being a packed dinner service, my party and I didn't have to wait long for service. Our server was friendly and charismatic, and we honestly felt right at home despite not knowing this place existed 15 minutes before. Food and drinks came out quickly, and they were perfect. We ordered the Steak au poivre and lobster ravioli, alongside a few cocktails. The steak was cooked beautifully and seasoned to perfection. Even the fries were seasoned well. The lobster ravioli was to die for, and the server even brought over some shredded parmigiana. The drinks were a bit on the stronger side, which can be a plus or minus depending on your taste. And to top it all off, our serve brought us a tiramisu on the house! It was delicious of course. I'm not sure when I'll be on the upper east side again, but when I do come by that neck of the woods, Osteria Nando will definitely be one of my stops for the day.

We arrived, there were a few other tables and we were happily greeted by Justin who took great care of our party. I ordered the beef bourgeon and it was AMAZING! It was served in a gigantic iron skillet and fell apart! The sauce was incredible and it wasn't too salty! My boyfriend had the homemade pasta with short ribs which he loved! Other delicious dishes at our table were the lemon burrata ravioli in truffle cream sauce (small portion but delicious), the filet mignon (biggest filet I've seen served for the price point) and the lobster special with squid ink pasta! We were able to relax and casually enjoy our meal in the intimate setting. We ordered a bottle of wine but they had tons of great cocktails too! At the end, Justin brought out a complimentary piece of tiramisu for me since we were celebrating my birthday and allowed us to try a glass of red wine that he recommended! Overall, I was so impressed by this spot! I'd highly recommend the food and the atmosphere for a casual date night, special occasion dinner or just a night out! They have happy hour and late night deals on martinis after 9pm. There's not many places that I leave wanting to definitely return, but this is one of them!
This place was absolutely delicious and the service was great. You MUST ask for Justin. He is very personable and had a smile on his face the whole time. The restaurant has a bar when you first walk in and then multiple tables inside. I went there for a birthday dinner. I got the short rib ragu with homemade pasta. The pasta was perfectly cooked and ragu was fantastic. Of course I wish the portion was bigger but that's because it was that good. My girlfriend got the beef bourguignon which is their specialty dish. This is a must get dish. The short rib was fall apart and no fatty pieces. While we did not order dessert, Justin still gave the birthday girl a slice of tiramisu which was extremely nice. He also gave the table a free half bottle of wine. I will definitely be coming back here!
I ate at this place for the first time a couple of days ago and I was impressed. They had a variety of options for all tastes and a really attentive staff. I ordered the fish and it was super crispy, seasoned and flavorful. Osteria Nando also has low lights and would be a great date night option. it gets four stars because their happy hour doesn't include food options, and my fish, although delicious, did have some bones. It's also not the restaurant's fault, but their is huge unsightly scaffolding taking aways from the look of the restaurant. Overall I enjoyed my meal and would definitely eat there again.

Osteria Nando is a great local Mediterranean seafood restaurant. We stopped in here for restaurant week and had a great experience. They have a great menu ranging from seafood, pasta, and a list of entrees you can choose from. The food was delicious we got the mushroom truffle risotto served in a delicious black truffle sauce. We also got the beef burguignon beef short ribs served with mashed potatoes, pearl onions, and carrots. Service was great with a date like vibe to the place. read more

This place was welcoming, warm, beautifully decorated, and delicious. The service was friendly and wonderful, and the food went beyond my expectations. The sauce on the mussels was like nothing I'd ever tasted! The fresh pasta was well made, but the seafood risotto was my favorite of the night! Thoroughly enjoyed and will come back! read more

Came in here after a show at the comic strip around 10 ish because we didn't want our date to end. They have happy hour and brunch as well. Nice little outside seating. Very cozy and intimate, a dressed up for dinner kind of place with French Mediterranean cuisine. My date and i sat at the bar, and the young man was very pleasant. I had a glass of wine and ordered the oysters while my date had the scallops. The oysters were very fresh and tasty and paired well with my wine. My date couldn't stop raving about the scallops, and they WERE good!! They also came with pita bread on the site, but it was the sauce that brought everything together; it was bursting with flavor, and I was surprised. I will def return to try the rest of the menu and also try the brunch.. I'm curious to see what else they have to offer. The food made us happy, so it did what it was supposed to do! Unassuming little spot on the Upper East side where you can get really great Mediterranean food and unmatched service. When I called to make a reservation for some friends and me, I spoke to Justin who assured me we would have a fabulous evening. He went above and beyond with service and made us feel very special all night, despite having a semi busy restaurant. My favorite dish by far is the Beef Bourguignon. The meat fell apart in my mouth, and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered, and the cocktails are also tasty. The ambiance is quaint and intimate, but casual, making for a lovely dinner experience for all ages. Would definitely recommend this spot, and ask for Justin! read more
I am shocked that more people don't mention this place when it comes to the best restaurants on the UES. Last night was my first time here and the experience was *chefs kiss* amazing. The food was heavenly. I would definitely recommend the scallop appetizer. Amazing quality. And the pea rissotto was so rich and truffely. And you can't forget dessert. The tiramisu is a must get. I can't wait to be back again. With their expanding menu there is definitely something for anyone in your party. read more
Went with a friend for a quick bite around lunchtime. Perfect spot to catch up and enjoy some good food and wine. Love the decor and the service was good. The shrimp was flavorful and the sauce was perfect to dip the complimentary pita bread into. French onion soup is one of my favorites and this one was delish. Very nice staff, EXCEPT that I paid $17 for a cocktail that they took away before I was finished with it. If I'm gonna pay that much for 3 ounces of liquid I should be able to finish it. read more
I was looking for a place to celebrate Passover and came across Osteria Nandi. Seeing great reviews I made a reservation right away. Upon arrival we were immediately seated. The staff were friendly and the ambiance was intimate. We ordered the lamb chop & brazing. Both were amazing. The skin on the brazino was crispy. The olive caper sauce had just the right amount of saltiness to build on the other flavors of the dish. The broth was light and overall it was delicious. My only question was went only one piece? For $32 i expect a little more in portion. In pictures posted by others there were two. Hmm... The lamb was prepared medium as requested. It came with 4 pieces and a nice mash & side of spinach. The dish was flavorful and tasty. My bro had the same question. for $38, should the portion be slightly larger, specifically the meat on the lamb chop. The souffle was very good though i would describe it more as a chocolate molten lava cake. I did love everything and would come back... I hope the portion size of other dishes are slightly more filling. read more
Serendipity led me here. A random stroll from Central Park and an open slot for dinner in 10 mins. I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the outside seating area, perfect for summers. I dined indoors. Cute little bar area too. Food was great, had some Blue Point West Coast oysters which were super fresh. A seafood risotto, which was nicely done. Servers were attentive and delivered classic dining experience. The bartender made me a couple of this special gin cocktail, nice and strong, super pretty. Loved it. I'll be returning. read more

I came here for dinner mainly for the lobster risotto that I saw on their online menu. I was disappointed that they got rid of it and replaced it with seafood risotto. I asked to replace the shrimp in shrimp polenta with scallop and they were accommodating. Meal was delicious and staff was great! Will be back! read more

Osteria Nando is one of the best restaurants on the upper east side! It has a very romantic vibe great for a date night but also fit for friends enjoying a night out. The maitre d and waiters were very attentive and easy to get a hold of. We started with the French martini and Americano which were both very good drinks. Of course we needed to get the escargot which was in a delicious green garlic sauce and was a large portion. For our mains we got the steak au poivre and the salmon with lentils. Both were cooked perfectly and were delicious. They even gave us complimentary tiramisu for dessert. Highly recommend coming here to dine, everything was great and at great prices as well. read more

We ended up booking this last minute (day of) for a dinner in NYC and it blew us away! They were able to easily accommodate our group of 8 in a semi separate area which was idea. Also, and food was AMAZING! The prices were very reasonable and everyone loved their meals. (We have some people who are very into food and don't impress easily too) This is a "hole in the wall" and it exceeded expectation. I'd recommend you to try! read more
Came here for Saturday brunch - the restaurant was empty when we arrived so we had some hesitation, but the experience was great! The service and food were excellent and the ambiance was rustic and relaxing. We got seated in the corner angle of the restaurant with a great spot for placing our baby/stroller. We were served promptly with multiple iced cappuccinos for our group and an array of appetizers including the eggplant hummus and pita, and Greek salad for the table. The appetizer portions were a little small, but the entrées were quite sizable. Most of our table ordered vegetable bowls - a number of them on the menu with diverse combinations including eggplant, zucchini, mushrooms and spinach leaves. I ordered the avocado toast with feta cheese on top, well toasted bread and a side of toasted potatoes. The indoor decor also sets a dramatic stage for the meal, with stellar lighting and artistic walls. Highly recommend this establishment -- its only reason for being 4 (and not 5) stars is the lack of pizzazz with the dishes themselves, and the competitive nature of other nearby restaurants. read more

In all honesty, we booked this reservation last minute and didn't expect much. It beat all expectations. I didn't take great photos, but as a party of 7, 4 people had the hangar steak, 2 had the burger, and I had the Alexandria salad (beet salad with arugula and blue cheese?). Everything was incredibly well cooked and had a ton of flavor. No notes for what we ate - we thoroughly enjoyed everything. The only thing I'd say is that the advertised cuisine is very confusing - Mediterranean, French, and Italian. We got random naan with some tzatziki - both great - as complements for the table. But, idk why they are trying to combine these different cuisines and food styles. I'd just say, pick French/Mediterranean fusion, scale the menu down to the hits, and go on from there. The menu is unnecessarily big, they don't need all those items. Pick the top items and focus on making them incredible/something that people are missing in their life. The chef is great and everything is cooked/tasted amazing. A smaller menu with things that are "to die for" would put this restaurant on the map. read more

This a beautiful restaurant that creates delicious Mediterranean bowls. They also have dinners that include meat and fish (i.e. Branzino) that are delicious. They have live jazz played twice a week and it's a calm atmosphere in the middle of the bustling 2nd Ave scene. It's great for friends catch-up or a date. read more

Hi Heather. Thanks for reaching out. During the weekdays we do a Golden Hour drinks (sangrias, wine, beer, house cocktails) and tapas special. Usually from 3-6. Summer hours can vary and extend into lunch. Look forward to seeing you!
Is outdoor seating still open? Is there heating? From the pictures, the tables look really close together
As of late Nov/early Dec, yes there is still covered outdoor seating and they do have portable heaters that they can bring to your table.
