    Tagliatelle with bolognese
    Wendy B.

We came to this place after the Colosseum based on the reviews. We got here early so they were not very many tables they had two specials they were both seafood and one was a spaghetti with clams muscles and lobster for €28. It sounds delicious but I opted for the tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce for €14. The food was served in a pan/skillet like you would cook on the stove list. I asked for Parmesan cheese and I had to ask somebody else to get it for me before my pasta got cold. My husband got tortellini with peas ham mushrooms and a cream sauce and he said that was very good as well. We started with a buffalo mozzarella cheese with ham/prosciutto that was definitely one of the best buffalo mozzarella cheeses I've had. It's a bowl of cheese but it's very moist inside. Being from the states I thought the "Buffalo" mozzarella was spice because they used buffalo sauce lol. Nope, cheese from milk of a Buffalo. Great place to people watch, food was good, service was ok.

Great food, drinks, service, and location. Went twice. We had the mussels and a variety of pastas. A lot of seating and large menus.

April 2024- food was good, service fast. Pasta dishes seem homemade. The outside seating was wonderful on a cool spring evening. They had heaters and servers were friendly. I had the cannelloni stuffed with ricotta and spinach. Great flavor. Husband had carbonara that came out in an awesome pan. Only fault was when we were paying the bill the waiter was VERY pushy for a tip. That was very uncomfortable. Our bill came out to €33.50 for: 2 pasta dishes @11€ each , natural water 3.50, 1/2 liter house wine 8.

Delicious and great service! I am glad we spend the time here to eat! Right out the Colloseum and Roman Forum

The food was good our server was funny and helpful. He spoke English fluently. The food is served in frying pans. Prices are good my carbonaro was prepared well pasta was perfect Al dente. My wife had a mixed seafood platter on a pasta. It was good and plentiful but a bit pricey at $26 euro. We did not receive bread at our table, plus once served our waiter basically left us alone, I would have asked for bread. Honestly probably better not to as there were plenty of carbs. A bottle of decent Merlot was only 20 euros

Absolutely awesome. This place has mist fans going, which help on 95 degree days. The food is hot & fresh, and most dishes are served in metal pans - very cool. The coca-cola is ice cold on glass bottles, and the service is 9 million X faster than most places in Italy. The ambiance is awesome, as it sits less than 100 yards from the Forum. Our waiter Mimo - was awesome. Highly recommended!

Such an amazing meal. My picky son said this was the best spaghetti and meatballs he has ever tasted. Each dish is served in an individual frying pan, which shows how fresh everything is made.

Would not recommend this place. This was the first meal we had in Rome and it was really because we were so hungry we just needed food. The staff was not friendly and was being very strange about tipping for the meal in cash as opposed to on a card. The food was just ok.

At first when we arrived at Sofia's we were skeptical since the restaurant was completely empty (this was around 6pm). But then we realized that europeans tend to have dinner after 8pm (the restaurant filled up around that time). So don't hesitate to go inside if it's looking a little empty! What we had: Focaccia Bread - Possibly the best bread we had in Italy. It was made fresh and very well seasoned. Seabass carpaccio - light dish that was very well balanced. Duck ragu - omg this was beaut. Highly recommended Pasta with bacon? - pretty good as well but wasnt as good as the duck ragu. Duck breast with salad - cooked to perfection and all the flavors were very well balanced. Beef fillet - it was also cooked to perfection. The sauce complimented the dish very well. Overall, i wish we had the opportunity to eat here again rather than trying other restaurants that werent even half as good as this place.

As a Southern American trying to navigate Rome, I'm still completely confused. I cannot for the life of me figure out north vs. south or east vs. west in this city. Every street somehow looks historic, beautiful, and exactly the same. By 9 PM, after walking more than 10 miles today and standing in countless lines -- one for over an hour -- I was exhausted. I was close to my hotel and started looking for somewhere to eat. I had already passed Sofia earlier and really didn't want to backtrack even a few blocks. But after going the wrong direction again and somehow ending up right back near it, I figured that was a sign. So, Sofia it was. My ordering skills in Italy are still not exactly professional level. I really need a local Italian to help me. Yeah, I'm slow... remember, I'm from the South. I ordered the Mezza Maniche Carbonara. I mean, you can't really go wrong with noodles, cheese, and pork, right? A few minutes after ordering, they brought out this little appetizer-looking thing that I'm still confused about. It was this tiny little ball about the size of my thumb. I took one bite and it was absolutely delicious. Honestly, I'm not even sure I want to know what was in it, but at that point I was hungry enough not to ask questions. Then the pasta arrived. Drumroll... First bite? Absolutely divine. Rich, creamy, cheesy pasta with perfectly cooked pork mixed throughout. Fantastic. I devoured the entire plate, chased it down with a Coke, grabbed my glass bottle of water, and walked down the street carrying it like a Roman wino. Great food, great atmosphere, and a perfect little outdoor dining setup on one of Rome's tiny city streets

It's a small entrance down a cobblestone street but the outside is deceiving. Inside there's a bakery with all sorts of treats, and behind that, the restaurant opens up into a large dining area with big brick arches. It looks grand but is very casual. All the staff are super friendly and speak English. We tried a margherita pizza with mushrooms and prosciutto, tonnarlli cacio e Pepe with artichokes, and carbonara. Both pastas were fantastic with cheesy and creamy with a hint of spice from pepper. The pizza was awesome. If you enjoy thin crust or are carb sensitive this is for you. For dessert we tried maritozzo, basically a cream filled baguette which wasn't my favorite.

Overall, the food was quite good here and they had decent sized portions. Our favorite dish there was an artichoke carpaccio which came with shavings of pecorino, olive oil, arugula, and lemon juice -- surprisingly good! Pasta was thick and chewy, so it was quite filling, and it came with plenty of sauce. They have a decent selection of coffee, beer, and wine as well. The space is nicely decorated so it's fine if you're looking for something casual or for something a little nicer as well.
