Second night in Rome, and after almost a week here of eating the wonderful dishes of Italy, it was nice to find a proper French restaurant located near the city center. It was a very short walk from our hotel in Prati and absolutely worth every step. Upon arrival, because we did not have reservations we were sat in the area closer to the kitchen, however quickly seated and warmly greeted. Service was impeccable, expeditious, and with warm smiles and love from entry to exit. For you, Americans and other English speakers, their staff is not only fluent in English, but their accents, were almost so natural that you would think they all have lived in the states for a while. Now let's talk about the food. They normally say don't judge a book by its cover, but everything from the entrance to the decor, to the amount of time they spent beautifying their menus, accurately predict what you can expect from the food. I decided to go with the pesto soup, as well as the lamb. The lady went with an Italian dish I believe the beef fettuccine. And yes, I stole some off that plate to make sure I tried everything and it was spectacular. As for the French cuisine that I had; savory and flavorful. Warm and gratifying are not strong enough words describe the homerun that we hit tonight. Add this to the list of restaurants that I will always go to whenever I visit Rome from now on. Thank you for the wonderful experience and phenomenal food Babette chef and staff. Hope to see you again soon. Mk

We enjoyed a lovely meal at Babette. Just a short walk from Piazza del Popolo. We made a reservation which is suggested as it gets very busy. We sat outside in a courtyard setting under umbrellas. The service from start to finish was fantastic. The hostess, servers and everyone at the restaurant were attentive, welcoming and friendly. The waiters answered questions and offered suggestions for wine pairing that were perfect. They were gracious and polite. Our food was served hot and delicious. The Flan Di Zucca Con Cuore Di Cipolla Fondente E Crumble Di Amaretto was so light and flavorful with a delicious aroma of onion and pumpkin. The Chef offered a complimentary tasting of a potato and truffle soup that was creamy and tasty. We ordered the Tortiglioni Con Zucchine, Zafferano, Pesto Al Basilico, Pistacchi Ed Erbe Aromatiche. Which is Pasta With Zucchini, Saffron, Pistachio And Basil Pesto With Aromatic Herbs and it was delicious, each pasta tube filled with the delicious sauce came through layer by layer on the palette. We also had the Costoletta Di Agnello Prè-Salè Al Calvados E Timo Prè-Salè which were Lamb Cutlet Chops With Calvados And Thime Sauce. Again delicious and oh so tender. Our drinks were perfect, from the cocktails to the wine . The meal was complete with coffee and tiramisu. We enjoyed Babette and look forward to return. There is seating inside and out with a warm and inviting vibe, for date night or out with friends and family. You will enjoy a memorable meal at this lovely restaurant.

    Anchovy ravioli

Fantastic food and amazing service. Their ravioli with anchovies was incredible and perfectly complemented the other food. GO! You will not be disappointed.

The food and service are excellent. The thought that has gone into the food and it's peroration is outstanding. The staff are friendly and efficient. It really does feel that it is working to a standard that hasn't been truly appreciated. Just by tightening up on a couple of small areas this restaurant could achieve a Michelin star.

We had a wonderful experience at Babette. Greeted by the owner and escorted to the beautiful courtyard dining area. The service was outstanding. The food was simply amazing. The chef provided a cold potato soup. We shared the Buratta cheese starter which was delicious. The fettuccini ragu and branzino were to die for!

    Truffle ravioli

Very nice and upscale restaurant in a cool neighborhood. We got there around 8ish on a Saturday and was able to get seated right away without a reservation. Definitely a bit fancier than the other places that we ate during this trip and I would highly recommend the truffle items on the menu. We were given a potato truffle soup as a free appetizer which was really good. We ended up ordering the pesto pasta which I thought was pretty decent and the truffle ravioli which was absolutely AMAZING. I would come back for the ravioli only. Dessert was also good - we got the lava cake.

We were seated by the owner in the courtyard out back. It was a great place from the second we walked in. Very inviting and welcoming. I really appreciated that fact. We began by ordering some wine and the meat board . The meats were alright i wanted the prociutto to be a little thinker but that's just being picky. I ordered the risotto which the waitress did explain that it was little fried rice cakes to which I said was fine. I think after getting them i would have changed it to something else but i wanted to try them either way. It came with a white truffle puree in the middle. I then got the best thing I've eaten since coming on vacation this time. The veal wellington. It just melted in my mouth. I literally have never tasted anything this amazing before and probably won't ever again. The flavor was just right . The vegetables were a little add on and i wish the little balls of potatoes had been something different but that's totally fine . If you come to Rome you have to come here

What a cool and chic cocktail bar!…read more My husband and I visited Peaky Blinders kind of by mistake. We were on our way to Jerry Thomas Speakeasy and turned into the wrong street and saw their bright red door. We didn't stop here at first and went on our way to Jerry Thomas. Like always, JT was packed and they said they probably wouldn't have any openings until 1am (it was 9pm). We decided to go back and check out that cute little bar with the bright red door and were quickly welcomed by the owner and staff. This bar is inspired by the show Peaky Blinders and they have a lot of decor that goes in connection to the show. At the time of ordering our drinks, they told us that they didn't have a lot of the ingredients for most of the cocktails in the menu because they couldn't find fresh ingredients in the market and they are very particular as to what they serve to their customers. The owner quickly asked us what we were in the mood for and that he would prepare something unique just for us. I asked him for something fresh, but not too sweet with gin or vodka. He delivered exactly what I asked him and it was the most delicious drinks ever! I was honestly inspired by how passionate he was about the produce he was using in his cocktails, and how much love and dedication he had for serving the best of the best.

We had an old fashioned, a Daiquiri, and an English Rose (sweet, complex) on the first day, all of which were perfect. I spent 2 or more hours sitting and talking at a comfortable volume, listening to chill music. Lorenzo was our bartender for most of our trip (but we also just met Igino, who is also a great bartender!!), and every drink he made us was exactly what we wanted. On our second day, we had the Manhattan, Lorenzo's version of the English Rose, and a Moscow Mule. Then a new drink with cranberry and almond, another Lorenzo English Rose (because my cousin tasted it and loved it), and another Old Fashioned. Igino also made us some amazing drinks based on what we liked about our other drinks, and made us feel so welcome. Not only are the bartenders, drinks, music, and atmosphere amazing here, but the people who come here and chat with you are also super chill and friendly. You can tell that people who come to this bar are familiar with this place and love it as much as we already do. As cool as some of the bars in this city are, this one is one you can feel at home in. Definitely stop by, because you won't regret it, and you'll probably find yourself coming back as many days as you're here.

You have to make a reservation, as this is a private club. How intriguing! The club opens at 9:00 PM and closes at 4:00 AM. So, we made a reservation for a Sunday evening. It is located down a dimly lit street off the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II - adding more to the intrigue. There is really no signage except on the door there is a brass plaque that says "Prof. Jerry Thomas." You ring the bell, the door is answered, you give your name and the password (Yes, there is a password to get in), and you are admitted to the club. There is a €5 per person annual membership fee. We were warmly greeted by Roberto and seated at a comfortable table. This speakeasy held about 25 people, with two bartenders mixing drinks. Euro and Roberto saw to our every need and were excellent! When my husband asked if they had rye whisky on the bar, Roberto suggested he go to the bar and look. They had probably 14 different bottles of rye, but none from Maryland. When he asked for a rye Manhattan, Roberto brought over a bottle of their "house" rye, which was made especially for them. After he mentioned that if his Manhattan was made using their house rye, the cost would be €40. My husband quickly declined and opted for a regular rye Manhattan for €15! I am not much of drinker, so they made me an Amaretto. Both were served on the rocks, except this time, each had one huge ice cube - we had never seen such large cubes before. We both thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Speakeasy and told Roberto we would be back again. It was such an interesting, fun and enjoyable concept.
