Food. 5/10 - I've had way better Italian food. The pasta was just..bland? Mid tier. Not flavorful.. won't be going back Also got chicken parm. Portions are good but again, pretty subpar. Atmosphere. 6/10 Service. 6/10 Tips. Need reservations in advance if you want to dine in on weekends as it can get packed. Long line on Fri night. BYOB!! No cork fee.

Service was good, byob. It was very crowded, seats are touching each other. Too tight to eat comfortably. The food was just okay. Had the shrimp penne vodka and chicken parm. Chicken parm was very good! BYOB made the dinner much more enjoyable

Osteria Ama is the perfect date night spot! It provided the ambiance, decor and warm welcome from the staff. It was just we needed to kick off our weekend. We had a reservation for 5:00 but were slightly behind due to traffic on 95. I called the restaurant and the woman who picked up didn't even hesitate when I asked for an additional 15 minutes. It was nice of them to allow us to push back the time. Our waiter was quite pleasant and also funny. The staff made sure our glasses of water were filled to the top at all times. As a reminder, this restaurant is BYOB. To start, we ordered the arancini. Super tasty and just enough to satisfy two people. We split the third piece in half. The restaurant provides warm bread with an olive oil concoction. Delicious! My eggplant parmigiana was absolutely insane! It comes with two thick slices of eggplant perfectly breaded, and smothered with cheese and sauce. I could only eat a small portion of it so I had them box up the rest and it look me 2 days to eat it! The pasta on the side was a little bland, but I didn't mind. I added some salt and pepper to taste. The views from the second floor of Osteria Ama must be lovely, so I'll be sure to book my reservation for upstairs next time. I had a great time here and look forward to returning!

I had a solo lunch here and would rate it as a 3.5 star experience - not bad, not great either. I often tend to round up, but with all the wonderful Italian options in Philly, I'm rounding down to 3 stars for this review. This is a two-storeyed place but only the first floor was in use when I visited. A single server was managing the whole floor - he was super efficient and made sure no table was unattended for too long, but it also meant that there was a general sense of rush and urgency which doesn't lend itself to a relaxed meal. I ordered the risotto al limone which was a lemon-y risotto dish with shrimps and capers and topped with aragula. I was served a single bread roll with olive oil while I waited. The bread was nice and warm, I must say. The risotto arrived quite promptly. It was smaller than I expected. It tasted fine, but the limon flavor dominated the dish. There was no seafood flavor from the shrimps and the shrimps were completely tasteless - what a disappointment. For a $27 dish, I had expected a better portion or at least better tasting shrimps. I'd give this place another try if I were in the area again, but I wouldn't repeat this dish for sure.

I shared the chicken parm rose and the grilled artichokes with a friend, both were good! Didn't blow my mind, but definitely good dishes. My two other friends shared a Caesar salad with chicken which was tasty. The service was not great. I had to ask several times in order to get a waiter to open my bottle of wine, and they were rude upon asking. They continued to ask to clear our plates before we were finished eating. Ambiance was nice, but nothing special. Overall, good place for a BYOB dinner if you're not expecting anything fancy.

I was visiting from out of town for a conference and wanted good Italian food- this place did not disappoint! It's a quaint little restaurant that was booming on a Wednesday at lunch time (so you know it's good!) the waiter was beyond kind and recommended my dish to me, which was absolutely delicious. Will go back when I'm in Philly again!

The Service was top notch, the interior was very clean, and I liked the modern Italian music they had playing. Overall I really liked the ambiance of this restaurant. They did a great job at getting our appetizers and entrées served to us in a very timely manner. The presentation of our meals were perfect. So why only 3 stars. I feel the sauces need a bit more flavor and that the portions could be bigger. I had the lobster Ravioli and I order it with scallops. 3 nice sized scallops that were cooked perfectly, the Ravioli was very tasty but I was not full after I completed my meal. I was left wanting more. The sauce was good but in my opinion I would have liked the flavor to have been more powerful. We liked our experience and we would go here again if we are in the area. I recommend you give them a try. Right a review and let me know what you think. P.S. It's a B.Y.O.A

How cute and cozy is this restaurant? The servers are so sweet and accommodating. The appetizers all had a special twist and they were all delicious. Our entrees were all good. We prefer more seasoning on our food than they use, but it was still good and fresh.

Came to Osteria Ama for Philly CCD restaurant week and has an awesome time. I've walked by this place a number of times and finally was about to try. Our waiter was very cool. Graciously walked through the menu, taught a little Italian, attentive, and just overall pleasant to talk to. Food was pretty food. Selected Aranchini and the Crab Meat Capellini for the lunch courses. Capellini was flavorful with a little bit of a sweet finish. Really enjoyed this dish. The location felt upscale with light coming in. It was also pretty crowded so people know what's going on.

Cute place, reasonable prices, and good service! Highly recommend the chicken parm. It's only $24, has huge portions, AND come with a side pasta.

I searched through a dozen pizza shops on Yelp and looked through pics of their interiors before I was able to figure out that it was Paulie Gee's that I ate at so I could write this review. I'm not a cheese pizza guy, but I can appreciate a really good one. If you enjoy a quality cheese pull (IYKYK) and garlicky goodness then get the Mootz... in fact get 2 bc that one slice is going to be gone way too fast. While I might choose another place for takeout, when the goal is a night of pizza, wine, great atmosphere, and authentic neighborhood vibes, this is usually where we end up. The space is bright, industrial, airy, and thoughtfully designed but unforced. White walls, warm wood, considered lighting, and a floor plan with real breathing room. The vibe recalls Bucktown, Wicker Park, Williamsburg, and Greenpoint: design-forward but genuinely local. There's a great bar, and booths near the kitchen with glass windows that let you watch the staff. Our three-year-old was mesmerized, and the staff was warm and playful, smiling and waving while they cooked. A small detail, but memorable. The crowd feels local. Good music, friendly people, hip but never pretentious. It's just a fun place to be with great service, too. The food is outstanding. We usually order the chicories caesar with grana padano and breadcrumbs, and the lettuce salad with shaved vegetables and creamy oregano dressing. For pizza, we love the arrabbiata (the Angry pie) and tomato pie with sausage and pickled chilies. My wife enjoys the ice cream. A note on bringing kids: I don't think this is a family restaurant, but if your kids are curious and well-behaved, it's absolutely worth bringing them earlier in the evening. We've gone around 4:30 or 5:00 on weekends and always felt comfortable. One time, our daughter had a full meltdown, and we were mortified, but the staff couldn't have been cooler. They packed everything to go, kindly and without any judgment. That kind of grace is hard to fake, and it genuinely stuck with us. Pricing is fair for the quality of the food and the experience. Places like this can seem overrated or overpriced, but this one doesn't. It offers real value for a memorable night out. The whole restaurant feels like a microcosm of Philadelphia's progressive, creative side. There's real ambition behind it, but it still feels human and grounded, nothing sterile, nothing corporate, nothing over-engineered. Just smart people building a cool neighborhood place that others actually want to spend time in. Oh, and make a reservation. Great spot, Joe. We'll be back soon. Thank you!

The hostess took our coats (a nice touch!) and then a rotation of two servers explained the specials and we ordered. I love that the menu is on the shorter side and they rotate the pizza offerings, so even if you're visiting on a regular basis, you'll always be able to try something new. Additionally, when a menu is only about 2 pages, you know everything on those two pages is top notch, as was the case at Pizzeria Beddia. This evening we got the meatballs (didn't take a photo, was too excited, but they were HUGE and excellent) and the beef, pork and veal balls with a rich red sauce was outstanding. Came in an order of 2 but one was plenty for each of us. The Pizza we got had potatoes on it, and we added sausage per the servers recommendation, and it was cooked perfectly and all of the flavors blended so well together. We are so lucky to have an amazing (and nationally recognized!) pizza spot in the neighborhood and it's always nice when you can walk in without a reservation from time to time.

EXCELLENT LATE-NIGHT STOP! MUST TRY!…read more We walked in about an hour before closing on a Thursday night--never an ideal entrance. You know the look. The polite smile that says "it's fine" while the eyes say "it is absolutely not." Totally understandable. No one loves a near-close order. I even acknowledged it out loud--apologized, explained we weren't from the area, and that we were just trying to grab a quick bite because it was one of the few places still open. She said it was okay. Her face said otherwise. Fair enough. Here's where it turned around. The pizza came out hot, fresh, and legitimately impressive. Not "good for late night" good--just plain good. Every bite was fresh, the ingredients tasted clean, and the pizza clearly hadn't been rushed or phoned in despite the timing. Hunger probably helped, but even factoring that out, this was a standout. Honestly, I was kicking myself for not ordering an extra one to go before leaving the city. That's how good it was. We did try to get drinks, but were told the soda machine was down. The nozzles were off, so I'm guessing it was a cleaning/end-of-night thing. I won't ding them for it--though let's be real, tossing nozzles in sanitizer isn't exactly a marathon. Still, not a deal-breaker. Restaurant was clean, but of course, they were near closing. I tipped her a few bucks for staying late, and left genuinely satisfied. Bottom line: the food carried this experience completely. If you're visiting Philadelphia and need a reliable, fresh, late-night bite, &Pizza is absolutely worth the stop. Sometimes the places you expect the least end up delivering the most. I plan to 100000% return (and it'll probably be near closing time again, too)
