Pretty good happy hour spot! Good place, spacious with lots of tables. We sat outside and had good service. The food was yummy too.

One of my fav happy hour spots in university city. They typically have space for large groups and good happy hour deals. I also love they were able to make any of cocktails as mocktails which is rare for restaurants to go the extra mile. Staff are very patient.

The service was really good, especially for a large group at an odd hour. I was really impressed with everything, all of the meals each person of our table got looked amazing... except mine. I wasn't super impressed with the chicken parm pizza, the chicken was super dry and there wasn't any really flavor aside from cheese and sauce. I want to come back to try literally anything else, because it all looked so good!

Philly pork sandwich. Looked decent enough, but wasn't great.

Service was fine and the restaurant atmosphere is quite nice, but I simply did not like the food. Despite it being presented well, the flavors and execution of my dish were not great. I went with the Philly pork sandwich and it had some serious issues. First, it comes on a pizza dough-like crust which absorbed way too many juices. It was basically soaking wet mush the moment it got to my table so I had to eat it open face style with a fork and knife. Upon opening the sandwich up, there was almost no meat inside. Lots of space taken up by soggy bread and the veggies with very little protein. The good sandwich ratio just wasn't there. To top it off, the fries were soggy like the kind you might find at a ball park. For $20+ with tip (and a credit card fee), this spot just didn't work for me. Glad I tried it because it had potential, but probably will not be back any time soon.

My husband and I came here for dinner before our show. We showed up a bit too early and they told us we had to wait so we walked around and came back. They seated us in the bar area which was alright. I was hoping to sit in the dining area but realize the tables/place was small. For starters we ordered calamari and mussels in a tomato broth. Calamari was divine! Breaded thinly and seasoned well. I enjoyed every bite. It was also super oily which was concerning but whatever ! The mussels were good as well. The broth was decent but which there was more seasoning. For entrees we decided to split the chicken Marsala. The dish was pretty good. We loved the mushrooms and the sauce! Service was also very good since they were attentive but also gave us our space. A pretty solid meal but pricey.

Yikes ... just not good. I ordered (DoorDash) the Italian Sausage Bolognese. The bolognese sauce was missing a lot. I'm not sure if I caught these guys on off day for lunch or what? I ordered a meatball with it and that brought the dish up to edible. Swing and a miss. It happens.

LaScala Fire is a cozy Italian restaurant on the Drexel campus. It offers many seating options (tables & booths) and the bar was decorated with lights. This was my first time eating here and I ordered take out. I ordered the vegetarian pizza for ~$15 and I felt it was just ok. Given the price, I was very happy with the variety of the toppings offered of: grilled zucchini, eggplant, roasted peppers, mushrooms, spinach, and mozzarella. However I wasn't a fan of the textures. The zucchini's were diced small but they were so hard/tough I actually choked a few times or couldn't chew them. The dough was very tough and sharp for the inside of my mouth. The size of the pizza, however, was pretty good for the price as it fed 2 comfortably. As I didn't dine in I can't speak about that service, but the takeout service was friendly and fast and the pizza took only ~15 minutes! I recommend ordering in person since the prices are a little cheaper than online (which is to be expected with service fees) and to skip out on the vegetarian pizza!

This is always a great place to go with friends and mixed appetites. We came after going to see the Zoo Lights on a Sunday evening. It was relatively quiet but they did have the football games on the TVs. The service was super fast and really delicious portions. I loved the spicy chicken vodka rigatoni I had plus everyone else enjoyed their dishes too. Good food, great value. A solid win for the campus area too!

Out of all the food here, the ricotta board was the best thing I've had. The ricotta was so fresh and the honey pairing was perfect. The bread was freshly baked and held onto the ricotta and honey nicely. It's the perfect appetizer. The rest of the food items were okay, they use the same marinara on all the dishes. I thought the Marinara tasted good but wasn't special. It was more tart than sweet if that's what you're into. The restaurant is nice and has lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It's a good place to join with friends or take someone out to a nice but affordable restaurant. The service was great! They're super nice and answered all our questions. Everyone is incredibly friendly and made the vibe nice.

Love trying new places. So, this was my Saturday Afternoon. They have an indoor and outdoor area. We sat outdoors. The service was fine. To be honest, the food was subpar. There was nothing that jumped out at me. Nothing really out of the ordinary. The fries were okay. The Bolognese didn't have much sausage, it was really just pasta. The kids Mac was just that. I'm happy I tried this place. I most likely won't be back.

This was only my second time visiting the location since its opening. With so many pizza places on Drexel's campus alone (Ed's, Savas, Mad Greek, Blaze...), it can be hard to stand out. LaScala's is more upscale and a nice sitdown restaurant. I recommend making a reservation through OpenDoor before coming because by the time we left (around 7), it was completely full. The service was nice and the place makes great use of its space, with indoor and outdoor seating, a full bar, and a wood-fired oven inside as well. Beet salad 4/5: had what seemed to be pears on it (though they appear to be potatoes?) which were interesting paired with the shrimp ($6 extra for four pieces of shrimp). Cheesesteak Pizza: 5/5 definitely an interesting choice to offer in Philly. A little unconventional (and very cheesy!) but still delicious Sweet and Spicy Pizza: 4/5: I would order this again but I am glad I swapped the gorgonzola for mozzarella. More like a tangy bbq chicken pizza, as I was expecting more of a kick from the sauce. On the website it says happy hour is every weeknight from 3:30-6:30pm with a selection of appetizers under $10 (including a $7 red or white pizza), $7 house wines and all beers $1 off. I will definitely be back at some point to try!

Overall, a relaxed and casual setting for lunch or dinner. They still had a Christmas tree up (in February) and they also put up a lot of valentines decor! Service was very good. Our server checked on us at regular intervals, and the food arrived quickly. We were here for lunch and tried two of the salads. Cesar salad - 4 out of 5 stars. Too much dressing to vegetable ratio. We added chicken for protein which was grilled really well. Meatball & Italian - 5 out of 5 stars. The ricotta is AMAZING! So light and fluffy. The meatball was very good, and the salad was the perfect size.

We ordered the shrimp shrimp and the short rib pasta, both of them were bursting with flavor. This is not a large restaurant. It's very small, but it still has a beautiful interior. We came about 10-15 minutes after their 5pm opening, and were able to get seated as walk-ins. It appears to be a small space, but there's actually a little back patio with additional seating. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi Linguine ($25) and my friend enjoyed the Braised Short Rib Lumache ($25). Food was brought out quickly. I did find the shrimp scampi to be salty, but I guess that's from the capers. The rock shrimp was cut into small pieces, so it was hard to gauge the amount of shrimp that I was given, but it wasn't an overwhelming amount. The shrimp was cooked nicely (not overcooked) and I enjoyed the lemony garlic butter sauce. Having snacked at Reading Terminal Market right before, I wasn't too hungry. I would come back when I have a bigger appetite to try the Mushroom Arancini. Their menu also appears to be seasonal. We visited in September and they were already offering more fall dishes featuring butternut squash (which was different from what was posted on their website). Service was pleasant. Little Nonna's was good but nothing life-changing.

The dish was delicious. I enjoyed my plate of sea-inspired tonnarelli nero. Bay scallops in crab ragu with fennel sofrito. Served with squid ink pasta that imparted a slight brininess. The pasta was cooked pangrattato style-- coated in panko bread crumbs and garlic. The dish had many flavors but they all came back to the theme. Cocktail prices and entree prices were very reasonable. They offer happy hour drinks and specials. Certainly a very good choice if you're in the area.

We received bread before water (very odd) and our meatball appetizer arrived 60 seconds after we placed our order (I thought it was a mistake). They are definitely trying to churn tables quickly so it is not a good option for dates or special occasions. The chicken parm was huge and very moist. Everything was as perfect as it could be why is that because this restaurants been doing it for over 126 years they know a thing or two their customers and had to prepare plate delicious meals. He was exceptional at his run through the menu, his explanations on preparations handling questions. This was definitely not his first, not his second and not his third rodeo he's definitely a professional at what he does. Upon review of the menu we started off with steamed clams and a spicy marinara and actually asked for fra Diavlo hence they gave it an additional hit of spice. It had a nice kick. It was very tasty. My wife was going back-and-forth between their signature lasagna and a little weak weenie with crab Bianco and in the end she went with the baked lasagna oh my goodness the size of that piece on the plate we took half home. She certainly enjoyed her. For me, I went with the veal Catherine, the medallions veal with shrimp, lump crab meat, and fresh tomato and a Bianco sauce the plating presentation I can't describe you'll just have to see my photograph. I've never seen it like this before and it was extremely tasty. Very tender I would certainly get that dish again. And since I am not a pasta eater, I ordered a side vegetable of broccoli Rob. And we ordered a bottle of the Italian Montepuliciano wine, what was the perfect compliment to our dinner? And this was my birthday. My wife was surprising me she had already pre-ordered their homemade tiramisu with ladyfingers, which would wind up taking with us cause we were kind of full and had later that night at one of our favorite coffee houses in Philly and boy that dessert was perfect and I'm glad we waited. It was actually a birthday dinner too, Maria and Mariangeli were treating Chef Dionicio and me for our birthdays, so we were already looking forward to a good night, and Fiorella definitely delivered. We sat outside and honestly, that might be the way to do it. Really nice setup, relaxed South Philly atmosphere, good drinks on the table, good food coming out, and you're just hanging out with friends. Nothing felt rushed. We ordered a bunch of things to share and try. The arancini were great, and the pork belly & octopus skewer was probably one of the more interesting things we had. I wouldn't normally think of putting those two together, but it worked. Then the pasta came out. The ravioli with lamb, peperonata and caciocavallo was really good, and the rigatoni with Fiorella sausage ragu was one of those dishes where you keep going back for another bite even though you're already getting full. And don't sleep on the focaccia and olive oil either. Simple, but so good. We definitely weren't letting that go to waste. Drinks were great too. They have some interesting cocktails instead of just the same stuff you see everywhere, which I appreciated. The staff also deserves a shoutout. Everyone was friendly and attentive, but they gave us space to enjoy ourselves. That's a big thing for me. When you're having dinner with friends, you don't want to feel like you're being pushed through the meal so they can flip the table. By the end of the night, it wasn't even just about the food anymore. We were outside in South Philly, eating some really good Italian food, having drinks, laughing, celebrating two birthdays and just enjoying each other's company. Those are the dinners you remember.
