We went to this place for an early lunch. On that day, we ordered Shaoxing Wine Chicken, Xiao Long Bao and Sizzling Eel Sheds in Soy Sauce with braised noodle. The Xiao long Bao was tasted great. The bao was filled with tasty soup with perfect tender meat. The wrapping is thin which was great in texture. The Eel dish was great in taste. The meat was tender and the sauce was a great paired. The chicken was good. Although the chicken was great in taste however I found the meat was a little tough in texture. Service was good with great gesture. I recommend you make a reservation or prepare to wait in line.

Despite the busy line, we love the convenience of waiting inside the mall for this restaurant. The place is pretty clean and bright our table was quite spacious. Ordered the usual famous dishes like pan fried pork buns, xiaolong bao, stir fry eggplants with green beans, stir fry noddles, and kung pao chicken. Service was speedy but not impolite. The dishes were alright. I think seasoning could be a bit stronger in my opinion but it was still a pleasant meal. The buns and bao maintained their juiciness although I think we prefer those found in Crystal Mall better in terms of the broth flavour.

Osmanthus is located at 4151 Hazelbrige Way, Aberdeen Center, Richmond, BC Food: delicious and tasty. Long time didn't have such a great Shanghai style dishes. Service: Waitress is "almost" aside to serve each table. Ambiance: At no doubt

"At Osmanthus, we invite you to embark on an exquisite culinary expedition that traces its roots back to the glorious era of the Song Dynasty. Our traditional Chinese restaurant is a haven for connoisseurs of fine dining, where we meticulously craft Jiangnan dishes that pay homage to the rich history and flavours of this enchanting region. " - an except from their website. Well said! This place showcases unique dishes that are much elevated and delicately prepared. Ambiance is modern Chinese with tables covered with white linens. Unlike typical Chinese restaurants, servers are quite careful in setting the table. We asked for fork and knife and they were placed nicely for each of us. Food is very good using expensive ingredients to elevate taste. We had their: Honey Glazed Prawn in Crispy Pastry $36.95 蜜汁酥皮蝦 Braised Big Yellow Croaker with Fish Maw $68.95家燒花膠大黃鱼 Song's Dongpo Pork $19.95 宋式東坡肉 Stewed Pork's Stomach with Mushrooms $22.95 豬肚燴筃菇 Egg White and Shrimp Stir-Fry $28.95 賽螃蟹 There are more dishes on their menu worth trying. So will be back for sure.

Came back here and brought my dad along as well this time. There is a mapo tofu dish in the menu for $3.95. We thought it was a typo but it wasn't! We checked with their staff and they told us that that is the price. We, of course, ordered it. We went at 5:30 pm and the place was already packed! It was a good thing that I made reservation earlier in the week. If you plan your go, make sure you make reservations just in case.

Fantastic food, at least for the comfort food that I ordered. The food I ordered are not intricate but food I would be happy eating every day. Decor is a standard, nice chinese restaurant. Service is the same as most Chinese restaurant - don't expect way too much but the staff is polite. Food highlights: Steam dumpling: tasty and good soup, but the wrap can be a tad thinner Vinegar short ribs - excellent, esp with a bowl of rice, well balance of salt and vinegar Vermicelli claypot - one of the best i had ... so light on oil and so tasty Steam scallops - ok and a good price Friend pork buns - this is a bit average and not my first choice

    Very good shanghai restaurant!

Came across Osmanthus while we walked around looking for somewhere to sit down and have lunch. We decided to give it a try as it was a new restaurant that we both haven't been to before and there was no line up. Food was definitely more fusion but same authentic flavours! We loved everything we ordered. And the staff were really nice ( I had a screaming baby and a toddler running around the whole time -- sorry!!) the kids loved the food too!

$3.95 mapo tofu steal this place in Aberdeen is newly opened and serves up quite the variety. And not to mention a huge steal for mapo tofu lovers! The tofu was mala and super delicious and soft and paired so well with the rice! They even have a ton of other dishes worth trying! * Fresh meat xiao long bao($11.95) was delicious and light and the skin wasn't too thick, the soup was perfectly flavoured too! * Shanghai stir fried noodles with three shredded ingredients ($18.95) ~ bomb I really enjoyed these noodles they were bouncy and very flavourful! I'd come back to get these again for sure! * We also got their: - Song dongpo pork ($19.95) - Golden sand organic prawn ($28.95) - Eggplant with garlic sauce ($16.95) - Handmade pine cake ($11.95) ~ we got the purple sweet potato jujube paste and the pumpkin one - Steam rice ($2.50) * Overall this was such a delicious meal and I'm definitely coming back to try more!

May be it's because we are all in "food coma" by the end of dinner! This visit was for dinner - and we were outside the door waiting even before they opened at 5:30. On a Tuesday. And we were already second in line. Celebrating a birthday, we had cold jellyfish starter, lobster fried e-fu mein, braised pomelo skin with seafood, and beef fried kai lan. The lobster was perfectly cooked. Even slight over-cooking can make the lobster meat tough. However, every piece was perfectly cooked. Including the large claws. Cooked with ginger and scallions, the lobster gravy coated each strand of e-fu noodles to umami yumminess. The braised pomelo skin was a special seasonal dish. I have not had this dish in many decades, and when I saw this in the special seasonal menu, I had to get it. The bittersweet braised pomelo skin complemented perfectly the fresh seafood, and topped a bed of Chinese spinach. It was the first time for the other members of my family and they literally sucked it all down. The beef with kai lan was another standout. Beef slices were tender and delicious and that perfectly complemented the well seared gai lan - great evidence of wok hei. Service is exemplary. Not just for a Chinese restaurant, but for any restaurant. The servers are constantly on the alert, and Everytime they see a plate filled with lobster shells, they would whip it away and replace it with a clean plate. They made sure that tea cups were filled and kept us updated with the delivery of the next dish. And at the end of the meal, dessert (Tong Shui) was complimentary... and they added a wonderfully light and flaky walnut cookie and piece of mochi for each of us.

Portion sizes and price point felt standard for Richmond. I thought it was cute that they also put the teapots on a candle stand to keep it warm. For 5 people, the total cost with tip was around $40 per person. Unfortunately, the only thing that fell short was the long wait we had to endure despite having made a reservation. We booked a reservation for 12:45pm, but because of the overwhelming weekend rush, we were not sat until 1:30pm. I understand that the restaurant was quite busy, but it certainly made the experience a little less enjoyable. There were also lots of people waiting in the area and the hostess found it hard to identify which groups were waiting and which had already checked in. I'm not sure if I'd return as there are so many other great dimsum places in Richmond that may not cost as much of a wait.

Hei Hei Rice Roll is legit good, totally recommend, even my daughter too, I thought of her ( since she LOVES rice roll and couldn't make it on this trip with me) while enjoying these roll but when I shared with her the photos and mention that we will go back here with her- she already visited. She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.

The live seafood tanks had some impressive looking seafood, including giant hairy crabs. They had lots of live seafood specials, and we went for the lobster (3 lb). You can pick the preparation - I wanted the bifengtang style, but it's a little spicy, and we had the kids, so we did classic ginger scallion. You can add noodles or rice, and we went with fried rice. There are also optional add on sauces: truffle or salted egg yolk. The rice was so good and was a very generous portion. The lobster was also cooked perfectly. We also got a scallop, morel, asparagus stir fry, which was a nice and light dish, also generously portioned. They were really nice to the kids and gave them some extra paper to draw on. We also finished with red bean soup and warm lava buns with runny salted egg yolk - so good. We made a reservation last Sunday and when I arrived, the restaurant was packed. Parking in this location is absolutely horrendous on a weekend so please arrive early to find parking! We ordered a variety of dishes to share and most of them arrived promptly. However, I felt a bit disappointed as most of the dishes seemed to be less flavourful than other places I've been to. The fried tofu wasn't seasoned very much and the congee didn't even have any green onion garnish or pepper/salt given on the side. The bean curd dish was weak as the bean curd on the outside seemed to be overcooked or not wrapped as tightly so it was peeling off in the dish (no pic as it arrived late to the table!). For the siu mai, I felt like the size and texture was not as good as my usual place. I did like the oval shaped egg tarts as they weren't too sweet and very fragrant as well as the rice roll with delicious smooth beef filling inside. Service was overall prompt and standard. However, I likely won't return especially knowing how hard it is to park in this plaza.
