    Chiu chow oyster egg omelette

We have been trying to look for a good chiu chow restaurant for a while. We stumbled across this one and decided to give it a try. As we walked in the interior didn't look very nice, kind a hole in the wall place. We sat down and looked through the extensive menu they had to offer. We decided to go with 1/4 of the marinated goose, the oyster egg omelette, chiu chow soup with rice, and satay beef and vegetable fried noodle. As we finished our meal, they brought out a few piece of their famous fried taro dessert. It was one of the best I've had. Our top three dishes would be the soup, omelette and the taro dessert. 10/10 would come again

Seriously this location has changed hands so many times I've lost count . It's literally like a Chinese cuisine chameleon ! From a one-time HK-style cafe to classic Cantonese fare to Northern Chinese cuisine , you name it they were there at some point in time ! Now it's Chiuchow / Chaozhou's turn and to our surprise they did NOT disappoint . Just check out the pics , they look just as authentic as they taste . Next time when you're getting on or off Oak St Bridge slow down and try giving them a chance .

The food was ok. We ordered three items. Took a while to come out despite us being the only ones there. Service was passing but both the chef and the wait staff watched YouTube videos on full volume while we ate. We ordered the deep friend crab meat balls, the cumin lamb stir fried noodles, and the fried oyster omelette. Not bad. Not great. Much of the taste was muted by the strong aroma of bleach I think they recently used on the floor. Probably won't return. Not sure how authentic this place is given that they serve Singaporean dishes here too. Parking was a hassle as they locked the back door (and it was raining).

I am an avid foodie and this place really blew my mind away! My dad wanted to come here for his birthday even though I offered to take the family to somewhere a bit more upscale, but he said he's adamant about coming here for their spicy and numbing crab. WOW! Everything we ordered was so delicious and authentic! Crispy pork intestines. Pork stomach soup, spicy chicken, stir fry, and their crab made me speechless! Service was also friendly AND THEY ALLOW YOU TO BRING YOUR OWN BOOZE!!! Will be back ASAP for sure :)

Very disappointed in General Tso chicken .Stringy chewy dry chicken heavily coated in half raw flour Huge chunks of raw broccoli The takeout container had big holes in it allowing some wierd greasy sauce to leak into the bottom of the bag in a puddle. The rest of the order was incorrect Not a experience I'll do again

Thank you for delivering our order. You were fast, before the time you said. The food was hot and so delicious. We ordered beef n black bean sauce on crispy noodles and spring rolls. Again thank you, we will order again from you.

This is a restaurant that appears to be cut in half, the other now completely separate half is Taiwan cuisine. This side is a rustic Chinese cuisine mom and pop place. Menus are plastic covered sheets barely bound together and inconsistently spelled in unusual categories. The food is really plentiful and very tasty however you might need to ask for serving spoons on your dishes and North American sized plates over appetizer plates if those things are important. Debit or credit. I wasn't thrilled by having to self pack our saucey leftovers in leak-capable clamshell take home containers but it is how it is.

Food wasn't that good. The place was not inviting. I found a lot of health violations online, I wouldn't go back again.

Very green vegetables, good food and service. There's no private parking but there's plenty of parking space on the streets.

One of the best places near Oak to get Szechuan-Cantonese food. Their food is really good and the service is decent.

May be it's because we are all in "food coma" by the end of dinner! This visit was for dinner - and we were outside the door waiting even before they opened at 5:30. On a Tuesday. And we were already second in line. Celebrating a birthday, we had cold jellyfish starter, lobster fried e-fu mein, braised pomelo skin with seafood, and beef fried kai lan. The lobster was perfectly cooked. Even slight over-cooking can make the lobster meat tough. However, every piece was perfectly cooked. Including the large claws. Cooked with ginger and scallions, the lobster gravy coated each strand of e-fu noodles to umami yumminess. The braised pomelo skin was a special seasonal dish. I have not had this dish in many decades, and when I saw this in the special seasonal menu, I had to get it. The bittersweet braised pomelo skin complemented perfectly the fresh seafood, and topped a bed of Chinese spinach. It was the first time for the other members of my family and they literally sucked it all down. The beef with kai lan was another standout. Beef slices were tender and delicious and that perfectly complemented the well seared gai lan - great evidence of wok hei. Service is exemplary. Not just for a Chinese restaurant, but for any restaurant. The servers are constantly on the alert, and Everytime they see a plate filled with lobster shells, they would whip it away and replace it with a clean plate. They made sure that tea cups were filled and kept us updated with the delivery of the next dish. And at the end of the meal, dessert (Tong Shui) was complimentary... and they added a wonderfully light and flaky walnut cookie and piece of mochi for each of us.

What we ordered: Limited Gigantic snow crab 3lb with salted egg yolk sauce - highly recommended by staff Seafood fried rice Baked large beach oyster with four unique flavors. Highlight was definitely snow crab! Salted egg yolk sauce was great as usual, crab meat was so tender and sweet! I am glad to follow staff's advice. Presentation was good, too. Rice cake was chewy, soft and paired with sauce so well and so addictive. Seafood fried rice was also great! Clam was so juicy and delicious! prawn was nicely firm and very good. Ingredients were outstanding. And Baked beach oyster was also great item. Oyster paired with each unique different flavor(Forgot to ask what kinds of each flavor..), Oyster itself was very large and creamy. Highly recommend this item, too. Overall, our revisit to Fishman was another great experience. Restaurant was packed, No doubt this restaurant is very popular for long time.

Throughout our visit, the waitress directed almost all of her attention to my husband. She explained everything to him in detail while barely acknowledging me. I was left to read the menu and figure out what to order on my own. I also noticed the same behavior at other tables. She spoke primarily to the men while largely ignoring the women. Even after I placed the entire order for our table, she continued checking only with my husband about everything we needed. When it came to drinks, after the two men had placed their orders, she didn't even ask me if I wanted anything before walking away, as if I were invisible. At the end of the meal, after I paid the bill, she turned to my husband, smiled only at him, and completely ignored me. It was extremely impolite and made me feel disrespected. The food was good, but the service was the worst part of the experience. Based on how I was treated, it felt discriminatory. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and ensures that every customer is treated with equal respect.

And while there are no shortage of seafood restaurants serving fresh crab on the Steveston waterfront, we wanted to give The Crab King a fair shake. I'm so glad that we did! My wife ordered a King Crab for herself which, after tearing it literally limb-from-limb, eventually declared it to be tied for her favorite boiled crab dish anywhere! High praise coming from such a consummate crustacean connoisseur! For myself and our son, an order of fish and chips, and the grilled chicken sandwich rounded out our order, both of which were crispy, tasty and delicious. Regarding the fish and chips, they appeared to be tempura-battered, and I'm still not 100% sure what type of fish it was. It may have been cod, but it seemed more like catfish, but either way, it was tender, juicy, flaky and delicious. No complaints here! More than anything, though, the employees here went out of their way to make our experience enjoyable. Our toddler son, who is normally extremely well-behaved in restaurants, was having a bit of a fuss here and there. Without prompting, the servers brought us a little radio to play music for him, as well as a couple of toys to play with, one of them being a wind-up truck that they gave to him to take home! He loved it there, and still plays with it at home! They even played peek-a-boo with him from behind the counter, soliciting laughs and giggles, for the better part of 15 minutes! That sort of customer service is nearly impossible to find, and should be praised and cherished wherever it is found! Whatever the past may have held for this restaurant, the Crab King is an entirely new animal now, serving up fresh seafood by uncommonly wonderful employees, in a fantastic floating location. They even offer to cook spot prawns and other seafood purchased from the boats docked at the nearby waterfront marketplace, for a modest fee. With all these things going for it, there's no doubt who wears the crown of Crab King in Steveston Harbor!
