Note the short rib special and was accompanied by soup , salad & rice... Ribs were done perfect tasting and came off the bone with minimal resistance... I went here with a friend I haven't seen in a long time. She wanted some sushi and I have drove by this place a couple of times so thought we could try it out. First of all I discovered the "Bento Box" it comes with salad, your choice of salmon or chicken teriyaki, and there was one last option but I couldn't remember, and a few other side dishes. It was amazing! Then we tried the sweet egg sushi, I'm not sure what it's called exactly but it was great! My friend is pregnant so we couldn't try anything raw, but I saw the dishes people were ordering around us and the presentation was awesome. This place is small, but decorated nicely. Great find. Everything was good and come out as fast as I wanted. I always want to be a first customer of any restaurant and wanted to know what it feels like so as soon as they open today I came in to make it a first customer of the day. Ordered calamari as an appetizer salmon skin salad, salmon skin hand rolls, crazy rolls(something like that), sexy rolls(our server called it sex roll) i did imagine what would it be like to sex roll. While the staff was friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming, I found the overall sushi quality to be a bit lacking compared to other places I've tried. I ordered three rolls and one bowl costing $39.12 on Mar 4. When I pick up, due the rush hours, they didn't give me the full order and I only got two rolls. When I called back, they first promised to give me the missing bowl. Today, Mar 9, I called to claim they talked very bad, saying no order on record of my order on the day, and hanging up on me. Great quality sushi here. At times we order so much at once that we do not finish them. And you know it's good when the next day they still taste fresh. I personally like the rainbow sushi roll best and the spicy rolls as well. For some reason I would definitely prefer the fresh rolls versus the deep fried tempura roll. Great place. But I'm a busy person and at this point I'm not sure what quality controls this restaurant has on their ingredients, which I think is important when I'm eating raw fish. Unfortunately sushi zen will no longer be a place we visit.
