We've been coming here since the Tokyo One days, and the quality, freshness, and value have always been hard to beat. Unfortunately, our lunch visit a couple of weeks ago was disappointing. There was no kalbi (Korean short ribs) on the buffet, but even more concerning was the quality of some of the sashimi, especially the salmon. It was unusually pale and lacked the rich, buttery flavor we've always come to expect here. I'm not sure if this is related to the lower than usual lunch pricing ($19.99-$23.99), but I'd gladly pay a few dollars more if it meant a return to the quality that made this place our go-to sushi buffet. This place is super nostalgic for me as I used to go a lot with family when I was younger! I recently revisited and the layout has changed a bit but most of the menu is still there. Overall it's a solid buffet spot, but you can tell that's it's a little dated and the quality isn't as good as I remember it used to be. We should have turned around when we saw the empty parking lot, but we ignored the warning. We also should have turned around when we went inside and were hit by a strange chemical smell, but we ignored that warning too, unfortunately. All the food was cold and suspect and some of it, like the hibachi beef, looked like it had been out on the buffet line all day. I ordered a glass of merlot and after a few sips I sent it back because it had an obvious fish smell and taste - something I have never experienced. However, the Korean manager refused to take it off my bill even though the glass was still almost completely full. Great sashimi price!! Dinner AYCE is $42.99 per person but it includes fresh cuts of sashimi, crab legs, oysters, various hotpot's/miso/udon/ramen options as well as a hot bar. If you go solely for the seafood the price point is super fair. The service was self serve however the waiters were attentive and fast if you did need something. The inside had booths and tables to accommodate for any party size group. However if you solely stick to the hot foods then another buffet might be better. Osaka is amazing and went above and beyond for my family. Something unexpected happened while we were there, and the staff immediately stepped in and helped without even being asked. They were so kind and so quick. It honestly meant a lot, and you can really feel that they care about their customers. It felt like home. Food-wise, I was actually shocked in the best way. They have so many options, and everything I tried was good. I was so happy they had sashimi, and it was actually fresh. I've been to many AYCE sushi restaurants and they barely have fresh sashimi to give away. I kept going back for more!! They also had lamb chops, hotpot, and mussels, and all of them were amazing. The lamb chops were tender, the mussels had great flavor (had like a chilli taste to them) and the hotpot was so comforting. The vibe inside lowkey reminded me of Texas Roadhouse. It felt lively, warm, and very family-friendly. It is the kind of place where you settle in, relax, and eat until you cannot anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if It was an american restaurant before. Update 11/20/2025 - We tried visiting again because we saw that they closed at 9:30 PM, and it usually only takes us 15-20 minutes to eat. We drove an hour to get here, and at around 8:50 PM, we were told that they closed at 9:00 PM, so we couldn't dine in. Disappointing trip, especially since the hours on the door and online said 9:30PM. Would I come back? Absolutely yes -- at least only for lunch. I enjoyed lunch more than I enjoyed dinner at Osaka, not just because of the price but because the food was better during lunch -- the service, on the other hand, was better during dinner. I've lived and work around this place for a few years and decided to try. The interior is way different than the exterior, walking in felt like I walked into a different place. It was very nice and was very well kept. Everyone was very nice and attentive. The food focused on seafood, but did have hibachi, lamb, and ramen. The sushi and seafood tasted fresh for a buffet. I haven't been here in years. Last time I came was around 20 years ago when they were still in Plano. This was my hot spot when I was a teen. A few features to note: they don't have the hibachi grill anymore that they used to offer. They have a self serve noodle station though. Building used to be bigger when they were in Plano. They got a few more dessert and sashimi selections than Tokyo One but other than that, it's about the same. Service was great without intrusion. My server kept my table clean and my water glass filled. I asked him about the promo price and he still honored it. This place is amazing! It's a sushi buffet, but they offer so much more. We came here during lunch on a Friday weekday and were immediately seated in a booth. Our drink orders were taken and we were off to the buffet. The buffet has about five different stations: 1) Sushi - One of the long aisles is filled with plates of sushi. Salmon and tuna served in a variety of different ways along with some other sushi staples. Plates are located below the bar. Some sections of the sushi bar have signs requesting that you take no more than 3 pieces. I'm assuming that this is so that someone doesn't hog an entire plate of salmon at once, but it also prevents food from being wasted. There was no soup nazi hovering over us, so I'm not sure anyone is really enforcing this policy. It seems to be more a courtesy request. 2) Salad items - The next long aisle is filled with salads, fruits, and vegetables. These items are all cold. There were things like broccoli salad, grilled okra and peppers, edamame, mussels, etc. The seaweed salad and the green bean salad were my favorite. My husband loved the kimchi. 3) Hot items - The last long aisle is filled with hot dishes. Chicken, steak, shrimp, gyoza, dumplings, etc. I liked the fried egg roll and fried gyoza best. 4) Soups - There is a small station filled with a variety of hot soups. I didn't try any of these, but there were several options available. 5) Desserts - There was a small station filled with a variety of desserts. I didn't try any of these either, but the selection didn't disappoint. After you finish a plate, the server will be by to remove it so you can fill up another in its place. The servers were fantastic.They filled our beverages without us ever asking. We were never without a drink. Food quality varies. The sushi was quite good in my opinion. The meat on the hot aisle seemed a bit rubbery and chewy to me. My husband had a hard time pulling apart the shell of the shrimp and was so frustrated with the process. He said it was a lot of work for such a small piece of meat, but the taste was good. Lunch is $25.95 per person Monday through Friday. It's $46 per person for dinner. Food was pretty good. Sushi was fresh and they had a decent variety. We appreciated the hot food selection. We enjoyed the roasted oysters and I liked the tempura shrimp and veggies. You can tell it's an older property. A little gunky here and there, on the walls and light sconces, in the bathroom etc. but the food area looked clean and was kept very tidy through our dining experience. The high score is given because our server Apple was very kind and attentive. We never had an empty cup of water, dirty plates were removed quickly, and Apple was just very friendly and kind. It's been just over three years since I've last eaten here, and I'm glad I returned: Service: gracious and attentive, these waitresses (no male servers today) earn and deserve full restaurant tips, even though this is a buffet format. They take care of your every need, proactively and efficiently, outstanding. Food: Fresh and good, solid B sushi, the best sushi buffet I have ever been to. Their selection of salads, tempura, grilled, and baked food is extensive and impressive as well, literally so much selection that anyone would be happy with the available offerings. Price: Has nearly doubled since I first started eating here over 20 years ago, when it was Tokyo One. That is in line with inflation in the overall economy, so while I don't love it, it's still one of the best sushi/Japanese cuisine deals in town at $26 (plus tip and tax) for lunch (significantly more for dinner), south of $35 total for a dream AYCE lunch with a generous tip. Atmosphere: Unchanged in the decades I've been dining here, basically Japanese lodge traditional in the main seating areas. Pleasant traditional Japanese instrumental music is played in the background, creating a nice and comfortable environment for chatting with your fellow diners. Miscellaneous: Parking is plentiful self park behind the restaurant (access from Midway or Beltline), with lots of big trees for shady spots when it's hot out. Don't miss out on their ice cream (red bean, green tea, strawberry, and mango)- I usually get a small scoop of each, and it is a highlight of the meal, a perfect way to cap off the experience. The lights are dimmer than in most places and the tables and chairs are mainly all wood. It gives a pretty traditional and almost old vibe to the restaurant. Lots of families go here and it can sometimes get loud or annoying because of the children (but that's not in the hands of the restaurant). SERVICE There were good and bad parts of service. Upon entering the door, there was one party ahead of us. Soon there were two other parties behind us. Took a while to be greeted at the door and the woman who asked how many people were in our party kind of just ignored us - seemed kind of rude overall. However, the person who was picking up the plates was very nice. We didn't see the ice cream on display so we asked if there was any. She kindly got us ice cream twice in decent-sized portions and was overall pleasant. One thing I would note as a side comment is that there are limit signs as to how much food you can take. It's a little disappointing that there are people that don't follow it. For instance, my brother was waiting for some shrimp tempura that came out in batches of 10. This in one of the best AYCE Sushi buffets in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. This location used to be called Tokyo One. They offer all the usual sushi offerings: California rolls, Spicy Tuna, Philly rolls, and sashimi. As well as hot offerings such as fried rice, egg rolls, short ribs, and tempura. They even have a cold salad section that includes seasoned tofu, scallop salad, mussels, kimchi and cucumber salad. Conveniently located off the main street (Belt Line Rd.) in Addison and there is always plenty of parking at the back of the restaurant. As with any buffet, timing is key. You will typically see the freshest food and best service right when they open. So if you can convince your stomach to eat early, I recommend going right when they open for dinner service. But if your bank account is not setup right (like me), their lunch offering is great at an affordable price. The restaurant layout is well done and they even have a private dinner area if you want to host a larger party. The staff are really friendly and always service you with a smile. Our water glasses were promptly filled throughout the night. Tonight, the food was fresh. The ramen bar is now self-service but they offer which is a bit odd, but they offer all the same toppings as well as thin and thick noodle choices. I will definitely be back! read more

If you happen to get your third dish of crab legs, the managers/owners will be staring at you whole night although you'd be following the rules they had written down at crab legs stall: 4 pieces per dish (each piece is half a crutch). I normally buy at Tomb Thumb (https://www.tomthumb.com/shop/product-details.960457956.html) where price ranging between $8-$12/lbs, and I'd finish around 2lbs max myself if just crab legs only for whole meal. There are other things to eat so I don't believe I reached that 2lbs max myself. We had 3 people and my other family members can't eat as much as I do. Still, after getting starred at whole night, the owner spoke to us at the door when we left saying if we eat too much crabs again, we'd not be welcomed. I understand the owner (she looks like typical Korean) is there to do business and make a living but this greed/treatment is too much. Their sushi selections are poor and 'grill' place is just Korean beef + lamb are sort of worth for a bit for me.
