Hot and Sour soup
Paige B.

I wanted to try a new Chinese restaurant and decided to try Osaka. They have PLENTY of parking which is super nice! My son loves General Tsos Chicken and when we got the food all I could say was wow! It was a great portion size and was really affordable! My boyfriend got the Velvet Chicken and I got the Spicy Tuna Roll. All of the food was delicious and had so much flavor. We also got the Egg Drop Soup and my boyfriend got the Hot and Sour Soup. It was soooo good. The server was super friendly too! They boxed up all our leftovers for us. The restaurant itself had plenty of seating and was really adorable on the inside. Will definitely be back.

I love sushi! And this place is amazing! Located in a small strip mall off greentree rd . Service was prompt and friendly! My appetizer of stuffed jalapeno I can't remember the name I want to say something like Phoenix son who are the best jalapeño appetizers I've ever had! I almost ordered a second round! All the sushi was tasty and it's not that expensive either. This will be quickly my new go to spot.

Very clean, quick service, great to get to go. The sushi is great for the area. Good quality fish and the rolls are filling.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. I got the lunch sushi. It was ver reasonably priced and the sushi was good, very fresh. My friends' meals were also good and the portions were big enough that they both were left with left overs. The service was very quick and our waitress was able to meet all of our needs. The ambiance was similar to most Chinese restaurants in Pittsburgh, it could definitely use some updating, but it's fine for a short lunch. I give it a solid 4 for the service and the food.

I've been generally impressed by the quality of the sushi. We ordered takeout this time, and everything was extremely well packaged and presented. In terms of the food, we focussed on fairly standard maki rolls: a spicy salmon roll and a spicy California roll. Both were very nicely done. We also tried the veg farm roll, and that was a nice vegetable forward option. Not life changing, but nicely done. We also opted for a vegetable poke bowl, and that was also good. Basically the same combination of vegetables as the veg farm roll, but in a bowl format. The bowl was good, but it was lacking some sort of sauce or glaze that might have pulled things together. It was easy enough to toss on some condiments of our own, but the bowl could have been better. Overall, I this is my favorite sushi destination in Squirrel Hill. It's very clear that the owners are invested in turning out a high quality experience, and that's exactly the type of business I like to support.

Maybe one day I will be more adventurous... but in the meantime, I really love my simple cucumber and avocado rolls and the shrimp tempura roll. Everything I tried here was great. My usual order is the chicken katsu bento box, which comes with a good portion of crunchy sliced chicken katsu, rice, two dumplings, a California roll, and miso soup. It feels like a solid, filling meal with enough variety to make it satisfying. The only downside with my most recent takeout order was the sauce placed in the middle of the container. I'm not sure exactly what it was, and after tasting it, it wasn't really for me. Because of the layout of the takeout container, some of it spilled into the rice and rolls. Next time, I'd probably ask for that sauce on the side in a separate container.

All the waiters were very nice and came by the table often to take our orders. I loved the place settings. Great for a date night or a night out with friends.

Our server, Cat, was knowledgeable, attentive, and immediately picked up on our social cues, blending in to the chitchat we enjoy, while we could hear her behind us giving another table the alone time they preferred. She is the best server I have experienced in a long time. I heard her tell another table that her whole family is in the restaurant business, and her comfort and skill with every table made that abundantly clear. Too bad we were not hungry enough to order more, because everything was fantastic. We had the chef's selection of sashimi and of sushi (two different dishes) and a takoyaki appetizer. Everything was fresh and delicious, and the different sauces on the nigiri and sashimi elevated the fish in amazing ways. Of course, all of this joy is just highlighted by the incredible three-river view, which my wife said was a great way to start her weekend here. What a great place! If you are thinking about it even a little, just go. You will be thrilled.

I went a couple of years ago and thought it was decent then but am so glad I gave it another shot because I was really impressed! Our server was really friendly and patient as we ordered essentially half the menu. I will note that it's pricey but definitely worth it for the occasional splurge meal. If I had to pick, the chawanmushi, unagi gozen, and New Zu cocktail would be my favorites although I would order every single thing we got again! We were really impressed by how fresh our fish was. It just melted in your mouth and the presentation of everything was beautiful.

I asked our waiter if the portion size of chirashi was good and he said it's a good size and that they have carry out boxes if I don't finish. Tell me why this was the smallest chirashi I have ever seen anywhere. The slices of fish were thinner than the sliced ginger. If you stacked all of the slices, it would make a normal size of one piece of nigiri. The slice of tuna was so thin, you could see through it, much less taste it. I was still starving after and got the fried chicken nuggets which were a good portion, with good crunch. The sauce on the chicken was devoid of flavor except for the SALT. They were even able to take the chicken flavor away from the meat which is kind of an accomplishment in itself. My friend got the Sichuan pork dumplings and the dumplings were drowning in soy sauce so much so that you couldn't taste the Sichuan spice (if there was any). There's a sushi restaurant nearby that gives me food poisoning every time I eat there and I would have much rather have eaten there than Soba. I would definitely recommend this place to my enemies because they'll leave broke and still hungry.

Dining in, takeout, and GrubHub delivery are available. My husband and I ate lunch in the dining room. An employee promptly and courteously greeted us and seated us at a clean, small table. For an appetizer, we each received a cucumber salad that my husband described as "really good," and we ate every morsel! My husband received his entree many minutes before I received mine. He ate the pad see ew with chicken, and he said that it was "average" like other restaurants' pad see ews and that he liked it. I ate the special lobster-tail roll, which was a large size and contained a Maine lobster tail, avocado, asparagus, avocado, masago, spicy mayo, eel sauce, and tobiko roe. Part of it was fried. I really enjoyed the lobster meat and sauces. The total price for these two entrees was $45 plus tax and tip.
