The next morning I was at the store and it had to be one of the best shopping experiences I have ever had. I arrived before they opened and while I was waiting I got an email stating my order was ready. I went in and went to the specific counter and they quickly processed some information I needed to fill out and I was done. I was in and out in 15 mins. The only reason it even took that long was I was looking at a few things. They have a great selection of sporting goods. Camping gear, clothing, firearms, even knives are plentiful. All the associates were very friendly and helpful. Store is super clean and well organized. Scheels blows sporting good stores like Bass Pro/Cabelas out of the water. Highly recommend this store.

At the time I was just trying it out and wanted to get some cheap but serviceable used gear until I knew if I was going to stick with it. I was also a little nervous because I was an adult woman getting into a largely-male sport, and I know from experience with other traditionally male hobbies that that's not always the most friendly environment to go into. But these guys put all my worries to rest! (Side note, I did stick with it and now hockey is a huge and wonderful part of my life. The Dallas adult hockey community is fantastic and welcoming, so if you have ever considered it, definitely try it out! And get your starter gear from Play It Again, they're great!) They were very helpful, spent a lot of time with me finding gear my size (which was more difficult than I anticipated, since as a short woman it turns out I ride the line between juniors and seniors sizing), and gave me a lot of really useful advice about fit and style preferences. For under $100, I left with a full set of gear except a helmet, as I had to go elsewhere for that (the brand of new helmets they carry didn't have a size that fit me comfortably, sadly). I returned several times over the next few weeks as I figured out what worked for me and didn't and they were always great about helping me try different options and returning and exchanging gear with no hassle. And the gear selection they have is honestly great! In the last year I've upgraded most pieces to new ones bought elsewhere, but I still use the same shin guards and pants I got from them in the beginning--and the pants are because they are such a great pair that I can't buy a new pair that is better without spending $200. The MSRP for them new is $160....and I got them for I think $30-40! And they were in great condition apart from some messed up zippers--an easy fix! They also do great sharpening here. I get mine sharpened on a regular basis by them, and while you wouldn't think a used sports equipment store would beat out the two major hockey gear stores in the area, they definitely do. Have never had a bad sharpen from these guys, the only better you can get in the area is up in Farmers Branch. They also have a sharpening punch card, which is nice. Definitely recommend these guys!

This review is not about the employees. Everyone I interacted with was polite and professional. My…read moreissue is with a fitting room policy that makes absolutely no sense from a customer's perspective. I walked into the fitting room area with three shirts. The employee counted them which is completely reasonable. Then I was told I could not enter because they were not on hangers. I explained that I picked them up from the sales floor without hangers and asked for three hangers. They gave them to me but then told me I still had to place every shirt back onto the rack outside the fitting room before I could go in. So I had to hang the shirts on the rack outside the dressing room just so I could walk inside and immediately remove them again. There was no purpose to it other than creating extra work and slowing the process down. As I was leaving I watched another customer get stopped because she had not rehung her clothing before exiting. Customers are now expected to do work that fitting room attendants have always handled. Retail stores are competing with online shopping where convenience is everything. Policies like this make the in store experience slower more frustrating and less enjoyable. I hope someone at the corporate level reevaluates whether this policy is actually helping anyone because from a customer's perspective it only creates unnecessary inconvenience.

Definitely thinking of doing a real shop there soon for sneakers even, I like the deals and the fact Nordstrom understands average people are not going to pay the regular prices they were charging. Good stuff!
