I had a pressing issue... On Monday a delivery truck damaged my crape myrtle and left a huge limb tangling in the street. I called Serbando Tuesday afternoon and he swung by that same day and gave me a quote, I decided I might as well get the other trees taken care of too. The crew took care of the banged-up myrtle + the other 2 in the backyard, an oak tree that i despise (can't get grass to grow under it!), a ridiculously tall pecan tree that should not be in a backyard (if you ask me) and they also cleaned up my Texas lilac. We needed tree limbs trimmed away from roof (we just put on a new one last spring). One of our neighbors had recent used Ortiz and nothing but good things to say about them. Mr. Ortiz came by within an hour of contacting him. He not only listened to our concerns but also offered suggestions that we liked. He said he could take care of it Monday (this was Friday afternoon), and gave us a great price. They showed up when they said they would, and did a great job. On the larger limbs that were over the house, they tied them off and carefully lowered them after cutting. All cuts were sealed. And finally, they left the yard cleaner than when they showed up. I really appreciate this company's attention to our needs. We have a lot of overgrown trees and bushes on a nearly half acre lot and some of them are quite tall. The owner answered immediately when I called on a Saturday and booked us out in less than two weeks. Serbando and his crew did an amazing job. This is the third company we have had out to cut trees since moving into our home. The others came trimmed a little bit of the low hanging tree limbs and called it a day. Serbando's team cleaned them up top to bottom. You may get someone to quote you a lower amount but all they are going to cut is just enough so that you need to have them come back next year. Ask them how many feet from your roof they plan to cut. Quoted me $1800 for for cutting back trees next door to boundary line. Huh??? Oh that's right, I'm a woman. Serbano assumed I'm dumb. Man said he can start job on a specific date. He didn't ask me when I wanted him to start. He took liberty to decide for himself. I asked him to send a written/typed quote. What I received instead was a text that stated, "trim 3 trees back for $1800." That amount changed when I stated I need last tree cut down to the trunk not trimmed. He added an extra $100 cause "that's a lot of work for us." That's what happens when you deal with a 1 man show. For $1800 he DOES NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS. Only Cash, Check, or Zelle. He was pushy for me to sign the written contract of $1900 when he returned again in person. I immediately contacted a real professional tree service for a next day quote, guess what?????? Got qu$900 for TREE CUTTING NOT TREE TRIMMING. Business sent a professional invoice along with insurance coverage. PLUS, business accepts credit cards!!! We had gotten two other estimates and I knew this would be the best in terms of value and service provided. I had originally requested a bid from another highly-rated service listed here (Yelp), and when I had finished, Yelp asked if I wanted to get more estimates from similar businesses. I said yes, and requests for estimates were sent out to four other services - Ortiz being one of them. (This is a great feature - Yelp - thanks for adding!) Of the five services, Ortiz responded the fastest - replying by Yelp's direct-messaging within minutes - and were willing to come by the next day to give a bid. (The first service I checked with replied saying someone would get back to me, and when I got a call back later that night they told me they couldn't get out to my house to give me an estimate until the following week, and the other services didn't respond until the next day). I have a lot of oak trees around my house and had neglected to trim my trees for years. A roof inspection showed that the tree branches rubbing on my roof had knocked off enough shingles in one area to expose the plywood... This was a BIG job. Mr. Ortiz came out on a Thursday, gave a very reasonable bid and said he could do the job on Monday. At that point the only other service I had heard from couldn't come out till Wednesday, so I accepted the bid. I got a call the next day from him asking if they could come on Saturday morning instead. Yes! He showed up with his crew at 8 am, as scheduled, and worked non-stop until almost 2 pm. They called my attention to some issues with the trees, were very courteous and cleaned up nicely before leaving. The trees look great! I highly recommend Ortiz Tree Trimming.
