So far Not good. This has no reflection on the sales person Scott in the store. He was nothing short of kind and pleasant however we purchased an ortho mattress Avant Compel , firm. Was told it would give a little and be more comfy so we wanted firm but not that firm so we gave it a try. It did not give in at all during the the 100 day trial period so we exchanged it and paid $300 extra for the Landsdowne 2 mattress and $120 shipping in hopes it would work. just took one week for it to create a big lump in the center. They were pretty quick to exchange it for the same thinking this one might just be defective. 4 months later the same exact thing happened. We are currently having to go pick a different mattress again. Very frustrating to say the least. Lets hope that Ortho will step up and do the right thing by us. All we ask is for an even exchange of the mattress of our choice for the constant troubles and disappointment in there mattresses. to be continued............. i shall write a follow up on how things go read more

The sales person was very nice and this review doesn't have anything to do with him. However the quality of the mattresses were awful. We were looking for a firm mattress. We ordered our first one and it came firm. However just a week passed by and it was caving in. Someone from warranty came out and agreed that it was caving. So we were able to switch it out or get a new one (for an additional $100). We decided to switch it out and got a different mattress. Again, within 2 weeks...it caved. At that point we were done and decided to go with another company. A complete waste of about $3,000. read more

I can't believe I forgot to review this place! We bought our mattress here in November, and had a great overall experience. The salesman (manager, I believe... wish I could remember his name) was very friendly and helped us choose a mattress based on how each of us sleeps. Other stores we'd visited just gave us the "Do you want soft or firm? Oh ok... buy this $4000 mattress then." In fact, he showed us two models that we'd benefit from, and recommended the lower priced one as our best bet. He even price-matched for us without us having to ask! Delivery was quick and easy, and the mattress has been amazing to sleep on. Both my boyfriend and I have commented on how we each wake up feeling so much more rested than before with our old mattress. Also, just FYI... they carry a lot of the same stuff as Sleep Train, and their prices were significantly lower. read more

Malena is a super star sales person. From the time I parked until the time I left she was attentive and helpful. Not greasy and pushy like other places I've been recently. Their selection was on par with most places around town but this sales girl is what sold me. She spent the time educating me on what mattered most regarding the mattresses I was interested in. Then, she showed me a mattress I wasn't even considering and helped me realize why I needed that particular mattress. Never mind the fact I spent almost 2X what I had budgeted.... Malena made me realize how worthwhile an investment my sleep and health are. I'm so stoked on my Ortho experience. We researched retailers, wholesalers, and online mattresses. We tried different models at a local furniture store, and then we heard the Ortho Mattress ad on TV. Knowledgeable staff at Poway store answered questions without pressuring us to buy. Side sleepers and back pain sufferers, we bought the Pembridge Luxury Firm with a 5-inch foundation on Sunday. Tuesday delivery, set up, and haul away went smoothly. I went in today to look for a new mattress as a first time buyer. I have always inherited mattresses from my parents and today was the first time I was buying a brand new one. Scott was helping me shop and was so helpful. I had a lot of questions and took quite a bit of time going through all of the different options. Stay away and don't believe in their 10 year warranty!!!! My wife and I bought a Sterns and Foster Deluxe mattress (~$3500) from this place about a year and a half ago to replace our $700 mattress that served us well for 10 years but was starting to make us feel older than we really were. First year of sleep was great and we were happy with the purchase. Unfortunately, my wife and I have woken up increasingly with sore backs and sure enough our bed was definitely sagging in our respective sleeping spots. Great, we have a 10 year warranty on an expensive ( and therefore better?) bed. So, I called them up and they immediately referred me to their inspection/warranty unit. For the honor of coming to our house to inspect the mattress, they charge you $58. OK. We thought we had an open shut case here as the bed was clearly sagging and our back were telling us that this bed needed replacing. Inspector came out, took some measurements and pictures of the mattress and box spring and left. We followed up about a week later with Ortho. Ah, the problem was with the box springs since they had sagged about an inch. Ok, great, this may fix the issue and we were somewhat optimistic that this would help. Oh, but wait, to get the new set of box spring, we had to pay a $100 delivery fee. Huh, go figure, their bed and box-spring is defective and we end up being asked to pay additional $ for them to fix the problem. Ok, my back hurts enough that I say okay fine, please deliver the new boxspring and if this fixes the issue, my happy back will help my unhappy head forget about this. It's now been a week since they delivered the replacement box springs and guess what? My back is sore once again and the bed STILL feels and looks like there are two concave up parabolas. This bed is feeling increasingly unusable and I feel completely ripped off. Stay away and examine the fine print on the warranties. I will be contacting Ortho once again as well as Sterns and Foster and asking for a replacement or my $ back. read more

Had the same experience as Denise L. below. My husband and I walked into this store on Sunday (Memorial Day Weekend) and there was a customer talking to the only sales person sitting behind the counter. This sales person did not acknowledged us entering or walking around the store, looking at the mattresses. Since we could not find what we were looking for, we decided to approach the counter salesman. At this point, we were the only people at the counter and yet this man behind the counter did not even bother raising his head up to acknowledge us. My husband had to ask for assistance and even then this guy seemed lazy/reluctant to help! When he did finally talk to us, his first question was how much were we willing to spend?! !! Looks like he didn't want our business or referrals, No problem, we just took our business elsewhere! read more

Finding the right sleep store can be quite a challenge, and selecting the perfect mattress (or the closest one that fits your budget) can be even tougher. The Ortho Mattress Store in Poway is a bit of a hidden gem. I've gone in there several times, and they've always steered me in the right direction. The sales people are really smart, and though some of the prices can be a little bit higher than some of the bargain stores, you can count on the staff to give you the right information each time. One employee in particular at this location who is exemplary is Scott. He's not a "sales" person, he's a people's person. No pressure, very well informed about all the products, facts, and figures about each manufacturer, mattress, and everything associated with them. He's not out to sell you a mattress, pillows, or anything else. He's there to make sure you get exactly what your body needs, and within a budget that works for you. All of the staff at Ortho are friendly, but Scott definitely takes genuine caring for the people who walk in the door to the next higher level. A sincerely disappointing level of customer service and unwillingness to stand behind their product line. My spouse purchased a Sterns and Foster Clarii King Mattress at a cost of $2800. It was an admittedly large sum for a mattress, but we believed in the name brand and the warranty. After only three months of sleep, the mattress developed a highly noticeable body indention formed by each sleeper, which resulted in a hump in the middle of the bed. We called for a warranty inspection, which was conducted. They declined the warranty claim stating that indent fell short of the required 1.5 inches of permanent indent required for a claim. In the end, we feel very slighted by Ortho and Sterns and Foster and cannot recommend that anyone buy from them. Next time, Consumer Reports and no Ortho Mattress. read more
