I recently had a frustrating experience at a different HomeGoods (Point Loma) where I was told it was "impossible" to check stock at other locations for a specific art piece by Wendy Kroeker. Thankfully, I didn't give up and called the Poway store instead. Carmen answered the phone and was an absolute gem. Not only did she find the piece I was looking for, but she also went above and beyond by holding a second piece by the same artist just in case I liked it too! When I arrived, I was blown away by how well-stocked, organized, and beautiful this location is--it looked like a commercial! The teamwork was evident; my cashier, Hanna, already knew I was there for the pieces Carmen had held for me. Because of their kindness and professionalism, I was able to get the perfect birthday present for myself. With a little TLC, this Home Goods could be gold. The selection is fine and they definitely have a lot of items. I do feel the aisles are always a bit unorganized and staff doesn't seem to do much about it. In general, I've found my interactions with their employees to be mild. There are definitely a few women who stand out and are super helpful and kind. Their prices have definitely raised in the past couple years but the quality is still the same. Lots of stuff to look through at Home Goods. Overall fairly well organized but it can be a bit overwhelming as well. Some items are priced really well and you can find some really good deals. Just depends on what you are looking for. I always love going in for the Halloween and holiday merchandise. We picked up some cool Peanuts stuff for my son to take to his dorm. A Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown hot cocoa mug and ramen bowl. They have tons of housewares, bedding, furniture, pet goods, and even food and snacks. Some very unique and fun stuff for sure. The Poway location is always busy and the check-out line can get fairly long but the staff is nice and do their best to get everyone in and out as quickly and efficiently as possible. read more

I was trying to return a pot because after I once used it and after I washed it theres like a black spot inside and I wasnt happy because I bought it for $29.99 and I was just asking for in store credit because I am a loyal customer I have my receipt but obviously I took out the tag under the pot which they needed because I had to put in on a flame but the cashiers were telling me that its not their item seems like theyre telling me I didnt buy it in their store which obviously they dont even know what their selling and their brand. I was so upset I am a cashier too but I always want to make sure and doing my best that my customer is happy so they will come back and shop again. read more

I love the huge inventory at this HomeGoods store! I made out like a bandit with all kinds of cute Hello Kitty mugs and Mikasa plates. They're ready for Easter and have all kinds of Easter decor on display. I got a few cute bunny figurines to add to my collection. The best thing is the staff that they hire at this location are always super friendly and always willing to help. Today, I ran in with my dog to get a treat and new toys for her. I have to say that it's extremely clean, not sure if they have anyone cleaning it but this store used to be so nasty and the last few years it's very well kept. Store has great inventory. Complaints are the same for this location as all Home Goods - they stock the shelves SO FULL and in ways that make it so hard to not only see the product but to get to anything that's not up front. Not docking points for this because it's just how all Home Goods are and not this location's fault. I AM docking a star because about 70% of the time I go here they don't put an item in my bag. They're a mix between kind about it when I go back in/call and a little rude. Like girl, I know I also didn't realize you missed an item (or THREE) but I also don't want to watch you like a hawk making sure you put everything you rested off the counter in my bag. read more

From Rae Dunn mugs to a cute pet hammock to bed sheets, they've got you covered! However, selection and cleanliness could be better. I've found some other Home Goods to have much more product & variety than this store. What I LOVE buying here: -Snoopy glassware & ceramic plates/dishes (lots of product year-round & seasonal pieces too!) -Cute & unique dog toys. There's a whole wall of dog toys, most at around $5-$10. There are always special ones for the season. I love the punny ones! -Picture frames of all types. They sell square and rectangular frames for gallery walls and they are WAY more affordable than Walmart, Target, or Amazon. -Greeting cards. They are anywhere from $1 to $1.99 each & they are high quality & very unique. My go-to spot for cards! -Planters. The only thing is, it is often difficult to snag multiple of the same one, so if you see a set you want, snag it up right away! -Gifts Receipts: You get printed/emailed, or printed & emailed receipts here at checkout which makes returns so easy! Terrible customer service. Waited in line for a while to purchase holiday wrapping paper post xmas. When I finally got to the front, the cashier claimed that it didn't count as holiday wrapping paper because "it didn't have santa on it", and nonchalantly attempted to charge me the normal amount. It was stored in the holiday section, the paper was clearly bright Christmas-y green, with Harry Potter characters bundled up in scarves in the WINTER. Even hallmark counts that as holiday decor. So unless that cashier is extremely oblivious to pop culture, or that she believes only santa is the savior of holidays, she obviously didn't want or cared to help. No apologies just shooed me away for the next customer. I wasn't about to hold up the line to get a two dollar discount, but seriously, this is how established stores get a bad rep. You really have to train your cashiers and managers better. read more

We purchased something from Home Goods which we didn't realize was damaged until we got home. A labed was conveniently placed where it was damaged. Tried taking it back to our local Home Goods. They said "NO - you must return it to the store you purchased it from". Something about not being able to add it to their damaged inventory. (???) Their online Return Policy does not mention anything about returning damaged goods. I'm disappointed in their service. Just sayin'. read more

**update** Homegoods reached out to me to make things right. Recently I bought a regular priced large serving platter from Homegoods in Poway. When I returned home, I noticed a hairline fracture which is not instantly obvious when you pick it up. So, a few days later, I went to exchange it and to be honest, I expected some sort of fake apology for the defective item. At this time, I did not have the receipt, cause why would I save the receipt for something I had no intention of returning. I talked to the cashier manager, Elizabeth, who told me they don't accept defective items in a dismissive tone. I explained that the fracture was not obvious when I bought it and I did not look carefully enough. Anyways, I asked for her manager. After waiting for some time, Bianca showed up, who confirmed, we don't accept defective items back, 'i guess, they only sell them!'. I mentioned I would write a review about my experience and they said we don't care about online reviews. I don't know if the managers working in this store are racist or do not understand how customer service works, or it's home goods policy to sell defective items in order to make a small profit. I am attaching photos to show the hairline fracture. The item is just 20$, so who cares but the level of customer service was horrible. Maybe HomeGoods is doing bad financially and is desperate for the 20 bucks. Hopefully, it helps someone who thinks about shopping at this store. read more

I came here to do a return and Anpurna at the front was rude and gave me an attitude regarding the fact that I took off the stickers for the items I wanted to return, so she would have to reprint them. I'm not sure if she was having a bad day but I truly did not appreciate the way she talked to me, and at the end she wouldn't even look at me and just thrust the receipt out to me. When I asked for a manager to give feedback, she didn't seem to care at all and just said "sure I'll let her know." The customer service here is truly awful and deserving of a 1-star. read more

This has been my go-to place for home decor at bargain prices. They have lovely hand sanitizers once you reach the checkout. They also guide directions all over the floor to help with the COVID situation. Unfortunately not everyone feels they want to follow their rules which ruins it for others trying to stay safe. Despite that, at least the store controls the number of people at one time in the store to help. Wish it was larger though some items they could offer more variety. read more

I have given 1 star for all the fantastic associates that work at this store. I had a terrible experience with the store manager, Michelle. She took my full shopping cart and put everything away. Her reason was because I left my cart abandoned for over 30 minutes. That is not true. I was shopping with my mom who is in a wheelchair. I can't push both. My cart was unattended 2 isles away from me while I gathered more stuff to buy. The manager chastised me loudly for abandoning my cart and said It was unfair to the shoppers who need carts ( 6-8 empty carts outside the door) I told her that my cart was NOT there over 30 minutes and she shouted that there are cameras all over the store and she could prove how long I was away from it. She would pull the video right now!!!!! As I mentioned, I got the scolding of a lifetime. Immediately, the manager went up front and made an angry announcement to the entire store over the PA that shoppers need to keep their carts with them at all times or they will lose them. She carried on her announcement to include being courteous to fellow shoppers who need carts. Many people around me said "Is that about you?" I said yes, it was directly about me. The manager Michelle finished her rant and then stood up front pointing at me and talking to the cashiers. I was embarrassed and upset. I did not spend a dime in that store. I gathered my mom in her wheelchair and left. As I did, I glanced back to see Michelle, the manager at the door staring at me. There were many shoppers that witnessed the event and made comments to me about the managers behavior. read more

So my wife wanted to do some adulting yesterday and we decided to visit Home Goods in Poway. I was glad we made it out of here without breaking the bank as we found several items for our home. Prices and selection are incredibly reasonable and the layout of the store is perfect. From furnishings for the inside of your home to outdoor furniture they have everything. Compared to other department stores or furniture stores Home Goods provides a great presentation for each of their sections which helps provide ideas that you can picture at your home. If you can see it... You'll probably buy it and so we did. Now all three of our bathrooms are plush and hotel - like. I actually can't wait to go back... The staff were friendly and very helpful. Well, I finally popped my Home Goods cherry! This location is situated in a small strip mall next to a very depressing Steinmart. Being a frequent shopper of my TJ Maxx and Marshalls for my houseware needs, I stumbled upon this location on my way home from work. And instantly fell in love. Not only was everything neatly stocked, but I found a Sophia Amoruso coffee table book that I almost bought for double the price elsewhere...score! How cool is that? I loved the unique finds they offer such as cool artwork and traveling makeup vanities as well as bedding, mirrors, snacks and other household knick knacks. I just wish my home wasn't already furnished as I need absolutely nothing from there and still want to buy everything. Staff is friendly and parking is abundant. Customer service is phenomenal here. Store is extremely clean, well organized and stocked. They tend to sort by color with in each department which my ocd absolutely loves. They tend to have higher end items that I don't really see at other stores and for great prices. The store is never really picked over like other locations can be. While the store is a little smaller I think they defiantly have quality over quantity which I don't mind. I found beautiful teal trunk cases today as well as a turquoise jumbo dog bed for my cane corso/pit mix. I've shopped all around for a large size dog bed and cannot beat theit 29.99 price. read more

I haven't visited this Home Goods in at least 5 years and I could see the difference! This store is huge and looks luxurious. Maybe is the well polished hardwood floor, maybe the piles of super organized by color and size pillows of all types, or maybe that section of gourmet food, local and foreign that is so appealing. I found incredible items today, at a great price considering they were 'gourmet' cleaning products, such as super cool designed broom, a rose essence heavenly scented laundry liquid to another musk softener. This is the first time we visited a HG store. HG is part of the TJ Maxx and Marshall family, so this is what to expect when you enter the store, but it's all about the home. We had received a gift card from our housewarming and decided to pay a visit on a Saturday afternoon. This location is inland and tons of traffic lights if you're heading east from the 15. Luckily not much traffic, but the drive seemed to take forever. When we walked in, there was just so much to see. It was not crowded but busy enough that there was a lot of people walking the various departments. There were wall decor, children, bedding, rugs, bath, etc. Tons of random things! The onesie - twosies seem as though they were final sale due to damaged parts, etc. We ended up buying a game for my niece and 2 picture frames for our walls. We couldn't find anything substantive for our home, so we opted to get the frames to blow up our wedding photos. I like the check out where there's a loud speaker to indicate which register is open and for the next customer to pay. Staff was nice and efficient. Parking is shared with other businesses such as Steinmart and Marshalls with ample spaces. read more

Was a frequent shopper here because of my wife. Until tonight when the old white haired lady was rude. Wife and I were sitting on a couch inspecting a cabinet that we were going to purchase and my son jumped on the couch to sit next to me (not putting his feet/shoes on the couch). The old lady walks up to us and said "please don't have him jumping on the couch". I didn't mind at first even though he didn't really jump on the couch. But she had to end her request with a rude "they are VERY expensive". Wow. Sooo never mind making that purchase and future purchases there. Found out I can buy the same cabinet at Bed Bath and Beyond anyways with my 20% off coupon. I love Home Goods. I can spend many an hour wandering up and down the aisles and then circling back again. I spent an hour in this store recently and left with a mortar and pestle. Practicing self restraint in a store like this is difficult but I've learned from experience (rooms full of throws, baskets and pillows does not necessarily a home make). I probably like it about the same as El Cajon - easy to get in and out of, decent restrooms, nice selection of unusual items for a good price. I rarely go when I'm looking for something in particular - rather I stop by when it's convenient and sometimes find something I didn't realize I needed. Last time it was a really cute black paper towel holder with a bird on top. Another time it was a mirror. Lots of odds and ends. Anyone who goes to Home Goods with me is on their own. I can get lost in there. The store is busy. Which is a good sign. Take a look at the customers. Now look closer. These are people from "$$$" that want a good deal too! The staff is great. You can't blame them for their customers. Who else is spending these days? Home Goods is staffed with just as many people as other stores of a comparable size. The place is usually neat. Once again, it is the clients that make the mess. Come on people!
