Homegoods used to be my favorite place for home decor. This location particularly I would visit often. As time has gone on, the store has gone down in customer service, quality of product, & cleanliness of store. I've bought several items that had items missing from inside. Overall main complaint is customer service. Some of the cashiers appear very unwelcoming, customer service is lacking tremendously, especially with the store manager, he doesn't seem to care much about customer satisfaction or his store. I shop at Homegoods in Poway, Escondido, Encinitas and Solana Beach a lot. Probably more than I should. Tonight, though, may be my last time in Poway for a long time. The manager that I encountered there was really disrespectful. On the other hand, the cashier that helped me was sweet and helpful. Especially when I noticed a flaw in the item I was buying. She volunteered to ask her manager for a discount on it because of the flaw. Frankly, the discount would have been a plus, but it wasn't a big deal...until her manager was so disagreeable! The manager rudely said that it wasn't a scratch, but rather a flaw in the glaze (really? does that make it better?) and, I could either buy it, or not, and then she just walked off. The cashier looked embarassed, and I felt insulted. So, I will shop elsewhere this holiday season. Note to that manager: employees and customers don't leave because of good management, but they do leave because of bad managers. read more

I have been to several HomeGoods locations in my life. This location is by far the biggest and has the best inventory. Overall, I am a HomeGoods fan. This location has the most variety of different kinds of art, furniture and general home items. Of course, every store is different and depending on your tastes you may not find yourself as fond as me. I will say that whenever I need to take a trip to HomeGoods I will be going to this location first from now on. If you're not savvy about what this store is, it is a discount home store very similar to TJ Maxx and Ross (not sure which company owns it). Here you can get everything you want for your home from furniture to candles to blankets to plates. It is a great one stop shop if you're in the mood to discover. read more

Every time I've been into this location, it seems incredibly busy and terribly understaffed (as with most retail places these days, I'm sure they're cutting back on employees' hours). On the plus side, all the employees I've ever encountered seem very friendly. The sales floor is extremely difficult to navigate with aisles barely wide enough for one person with a cart to get through, nevermind a person trying to pass by another person with a cart -- or, god forbid, 2 carts converging in the same aisle. Because of this, rather than spend some time and look around to get ideas and impulse buys, I get so sick of people in my way (and me being in others' ways) that I just grab what I came for and head for the long line at the checkout. The overall quality of Home Goods' merchandise seems have drastically gone downhill in the past few years. When I first started going to H.G. back in CT, the place was, for the most part, well organized and the emphasis seemed to be on interesting items that people would actually buy (quality over quantity on the shelves). Now when I walk into any H.G., every shelf is literally packed with cheap-o tchotchkes and gaudy home decor. You can't even see one item as a possibility in your space because of the cacophony of other things mounded around it. I'd spend more time trying to find the proverbial needle in a haystack, but once again, when I'm vying for floor space against a bitchy housewife pushing a double-wide stroller and a scathing entitlement complex, I'd rather just go someplace else and save myself the aggravation. For a while now, the only reason I'd drive all the way there was to pick up some inexpensive bedding, but even that department has gone way downhill so I'll probably just stick to ordering through overstock.com. It really amazes me that these stores continue to be so busy all the time; with the economy the way it is, it's hard to believe that the general population spends their dwindling dollars on the tawdry, meaningless junk that makes up most of the Home Goods inventory. read more

I love Home Goods but this place lacks a lot of nifty finds. It seems to me this Home Goods gets the bad end of the stick for shipments. Their items seem to not be up to par. I wasn't impressed during this visit. It's been almost two years since I stopped by this location. The only cool find I saw was this cool tower that holds candy (the ones you see at weddings or babyshowers) and it was a good size and already had candy in it for $39.99 not a bad cost and it was a fancy looking item. They had 5 in stock so whoevers getting married or having an event can buy it from there for a stellar price, and after the event you have cool new center pieces for the home. Viola! read more

Everyone seems to love this place, but I just don't get it. It was described to me as a place to find "a lot of unique and eclectic pieces". I like unique and eclectic. This stuff was tacky. Most of what I saw looked like it had been rejected by Ross's homewares section or donated here after it couldn't be sold on Etsy. A lot of the decor and such seemed really poorly made, and the few small pieces of furniture they had were rather overpriced, in my opinion. The pet and bathroom sections were decent, and I suppose the bedding had some decent deals, but the selection was disappointing. You could do better online easily. Also, I would mention that navigating a shopping cart through this store is a pain, but honestly I'm not sure why I'd need a shopping cart if I were to end up here again. read more

Who doesn't love Home Goods?! Lots of unique department store items for your home at a fraction of the cost? Hell. Yes. They have anything and everything you can think of for your home: Furniture, dishes, baskets, wall hangings, clocks, statues, rugs, lighting, decor for every room in your home - and even a large selection of items for your dog! Oh, AND, you can even bring your dog inside. But I think maybe only small dogs that will fit in a cart - that's the only time I've seen them here. This place is busting at the seams with stuff - there is something for everyone here. But, as with any place that is busting at the seams with stuff, it can be hard to maneuver around this store (especially with a cart) when it's really busy. So avoid going on the weekend if you can - Saturdays are crazy. The folks who work here have all been polite and professional, and check out times aren't very long - even when it's super busy. I think I've returned something once to this store and it was just as easy to return the item as it was to buy it. read more

They have a great selection with classic styling as well as new trendy styles in bright colors. Loved the departments they covered too: outside/ patio, garden to every room inside the house to stationary and gifts too. I really liked their available selections. I'm a huge fan of Marshall's, Ross, TJ Max and so I heard about Home Goods as the home goods store equivalent and couldn't wait to check the place out. As much as I heard was right, I was little disappointed... let me tell you why. They store is set up like Marshall's in the sense that they do sell home goods that are marked down because they must have purchase the surplus or closeout items from department stores, but what disappointed me was that I felt the store had more I trendy items than I expected. I was hoping for the more of the home products they sold at Marshalls. I thought the prices weren't as good, but like I said the items were more trendy, but the normal everyday stuff was just as stocked as any regular Marshalls. So great for more the decorative and trendy things like wall decor, cook ware and furniture. I did really like their selection of lamps though, but I thought their selection in bed sheets and pet supplies were about equivalent to Marshall's. I would go here more so for the little home accents and what not, but aside from that I find most of the stuff I need in Marshall's, so no need to head out this way unless you want more trendy or large furniture items. read more

I LOVE Homegoods! I shop at all of their locations, but this one is right down the street from where I work, so I can't help but pop in on the occasional lunch break. They have good housewares for much cheaper than furniture and department stores. Finding stuff is definitly hit or miss. They get new stuff all the time so keep checking back. The majority of my house is decorated with items from Homegoods. My advice: if you see something you like BUY IT because when you go back it will be gone. read more

I am a long time Home Goods customer, not just at the Poway store but all over San Diego and Riverside counties. I have to say that for the first time, I was shocked to see the condition of the Poway store. It is no longer inviting to shop there. First, they have repositioned the food items so that the first things you see when you enter the store are bags of chips, bottles of olive oil, etc. And the shelves are messy. Then as you wonder the store you find disarray everywhere. Baskets spilling into the aisles, toys and pet supplies littering the floor. And nothing on the shelves seems to be placed with care. All shelves are cluttered and the employees that are filling the shelves have their carts in the middle of the aisles so it is extremely difficult to go up and down the aisles. I truly do love Home Goods and hope that the management of the Poway store will take measures to clean up the store. read more

This place is dangerous.... .... on your pocket. There are so many fantastic items in there and the stock seems to change pretty quick so you can go almost weekly and find different items. This is a solid HomeGoods! They've got everything you could dream of for home decor. Throw in some gorgeous gift wrap and a greeting card and you've got it all. The store itself is a little overwhelming because there is SO MUCH stuff, but that's to be expected. The store is clean and the staff are friendly. Not a bad stop to find things for the home. Selection is decent, but don't expect to always strike gold. They seem to restock once in a while, probably as things get sold. They usually have a few of the same items in. But if you see something you like, be sure to grab it. No guaranteeing that it'll be there for long, and they will most likely not get more of the same thing. We've gotten good deals on one of our rugs and some kitchen stuff there. We also found two of our paintings there. But I've been back many a times looking for one more painting for the office, but never seem to find something. Like I said, hit or miss. read more

Once my wife steps foot here, we're stuck inside for at least an hour. This place reminds me of Pier 1 Imports, just half the price on everything. Warning - don't bring your kids since there's breakables all over. Also, the aisles are so small that they can't fit two carts side by side. I will take random crap for a thousand... That basically sums up what you will find at home goods. The way I describe this store to people is, "You know the home section in Ross or Marshalls? This is a whole store of it!" I constantly come back here because its next to my favorite restaurant (El Ranchito Taco Shop), and there is always different stuff here. I do have to say that I hardly buy anything when I come here but its like the swap meet... Just fun to look at random stuff you don't need. As for the store, its clean, customer service is non existent, and price range can go from 99 cents to several thousand dollars (I am not joking). Home goods has a great selection from home into kitchen to kids rooms I honestly would suggest the store to anyone Shoppett and I recommend to look at the clearance section because sometimes it's just one of the last things of that item or something might be a little bit wrong with it but it still works okay. Super frustrating visit today to the Poway Home Goods. After searching all morning at stores for a king size duvet cover and shams I "thought" I found the perfect set. The only problem was it was clearly a return. The item was shoved sloppily back in a fabric bag (same material as duvet) with a warn out price sticker of 49.99. I asked the cashier at #1 if I could get some kind of discount for it since it was a return and her response was...."we only give discounts on items if there's something wrong with the item and we don't know if there is anything wrong with this." My reaction was "why would you put it on the floor without knowing if it was ok?"...got home and NO SHAMS were in the package. Returned the item and asked if I could get a discount for just the duvet. The manager offered me a discount of 10.00. So I'd be paying 40.00 for a used duvet. No thanks and I won't be taking my chances of buying anything here again..Bottom line, if you want to purchase returned incomplete items, this is your place and don't expect it to be a deal. They do not take the extra time to make sure their product that is returned is complete or even in any condition to put back on the floor. read more

I absolutely LOVE Home Goods! And what makes it even better is that I finally got my own place and this location is a must-go-to for everything anyone could need to fill a new home! I wanted to reach out and say a HUGE thank you to Leigh who works here. After purchasing numerous items, as sometimes it happens, I did have to return a few due to gifts we received already. Leigh was so kind as to take the time to go through my items, all of which were unwrapped with no barcode (SORRY!) and she was able to connect them to they receipt I DID have. When I first bought my house earlier last year my real estate agent gave me a basket filled with a whole bunch of stuff he got at Home Goods. Everything in it (truffle oil, balsamic vinegar, cookies, towels, etc...) was so interesting that I decided to look up the store and go there to check it out. I have been a huge fan since I first walked into the store!!! If you like decorating your house or trying interesting food from different parts of the world without spending a fortune, this is definitely the place for you. The furniture section is small and I haven't bought anything in that department, but it's great for anything else you may need or want for any rooms in your house. Things I bought here are silk orchids, drapes, candle sticks, candles, tea kettle, organizers, bathroom rugs, dishes, and I could go on and on. The store is big and there is something cute/interesting/useful/pretty in every aisle, so I tend to spend lots of time here wandering up and down the aisles. Happy shopping!!! read more

I received a gift card so checked out the store. My first impression was disappointment. Much of what they has really looks tacky, cheap. If you are going to buy something make sure it is a name brand. I got some Cuisinart non stick pans that are great. But I bought a couple fancy soap dispensers for our bathrooms and they malfunctioned almost immediately. The spout where the soap comes out is turning the soap green and constantly getting plugged up. They were both a waste. Be very picky about what you buy. read more

I try not to come here too often because I always find things to buy. Such a wide variety of housewares from glass jars to wicker hampers; from towels to pet toys; from lamps & chairs to plates and glasses. Just everything and a massive variety of everything. After a busy weekend, HG can look like a bomb went off inside it, but if your up for an adventure, you won't mind! The ONLY downside: check out can go reallllly slow. Used to love this store until their new management started 'Bait & Switch' practices during the Christmas rush. Found a nice gift on the 60% off table. At check out the price was exactly the same. When I questioned, they said the price was 'UP TO 60% OFF ORIGINAL price.' If that was true... every isle should have an 'UP TO 60% off sign. I put the gift back and told Manager of my distaste for this new practice. He could care less. I won't return and won't recommend any longer. This Home Goods rocks! I finally made it down last night after receiving a gift card for Christmas. I live in the San Marcos area, so this location is a little out of the way but worth the drive! The store was spotless and had very friendly employees - I walked around the entire store without feeling rushed. The cashier was super sweet too - I didn't catch her name but she seemed genuinely happy to be there and friendly! I also heard the assistant/manager interacting with associates and it was easy to see that they had a good relationship/ were treated with respect. Which can be rare in retail! AND I found an art piece I've been looking at online for MONTHS now for a third of the price. Win win and sooo happy! read more

Nice and large store located near the Poway Post Office. This place is evil in a good way. Lots of cool items for your home. Love the store. Can usually find great deals. Furniture seems to be a bit over priced. But, lots of other things to tempt you. Always a good place for Christmas and birthday gifts too, without breaking the bank. The reason for the lower rating though is for the attitudes of the staff. The last few times I have been in, they were boardering on rude. One item I had, did not have a price tag. There were no other items similar, to bring up. So, I had to ask for the price. Boy, was I stupid. The huffs alone were awkward. Initially, I chalked it up to a bad day. But, the same attitude has been present the last 4 or 5 times ... So, thought I'd let others know. read more
