IF YOU VALUE YOUR VISION HEALTH - DO NOT GO HERE! I've worked in the medical field for close to 25 years now. I went ahead and kept my 2nd appointment to see if things would improve. Got the same hard-sell for "upgrades" for surgery. I had questions and let the doctor ramble on and answer those questions. I then mentioned that I had gone to the Casey Eye Institute in Portland for a 2nd opinion after my last visit and they said some different things, confirming what I already had suspected. Upon hearing this, the attitude changed to a very confrontational "How-dare-you-go-elsewhere!" tone. After explaining what the world-class surgeon told me at Casey, the doctor tried to "BS" me and change her findings. On the way out, they wanted me to sign consent papers for surgery. I told them NO WAY. They do this, so they can lock up the funds with the insurance, so if you DO go elsewhere, you will have to pay out of pocket, or at the very least, fight to get those benefits transferred, for the surgery. Of course if you do this, you will be significantly delaying your healthcare. WILL NOT BE BACK - this place is all about pumping the surgeries through as fast and furious as possible, with all the upgrade$ for their bottom line profits. read more

I found the care and surgery to be top notch. Is this a busy place? Yes, but most doctors offices are and overall my waits were not that long, even on the couple times they did occur. Most times I got right in. Dr. Grove knows her stuff and the cataract surgery went perfectly. I'm delighted! I can see again. The billing department clearly laid out what my expenses would be and that's exactly what they were - no deviations. Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend them to those who need cataract surgery. read more

Once again 100% negative appointment on 14 Nov 2022 at the Orion Eye Center in Redmond Oregon, my appointment was at 2:50pm, I did not get into the primary check in until 3:20pm, then waited another 35 minutes with no results, I gave up on that appointment, never saw Dr. Grove, I have had fluid in my right eye ever since Cataract Surgery on the 6th of October, I am 100% disappointed in there Service and Customer Care, the Cataract Surgeon does not listen or care to give you enough time to fully explain your concerns, they are in a real hurry up situation and could care less about what you think, they do not address the issues at hand, again I would not recommend Orion Eye Center in Redmond or Bend Oregon. I will seek another Eye Care Center that will address my current concerns and issues. read more

I had two eye surgeries here with Dr, Christine. She is skilled and wonderful but the billing department is awful!~ They "nickel and dime" you for services that they don't tell you about. I self pay and twice asked for a total bill for each surgery, paid the bill in full and then get statements for services that were supposed to be included in the post care. As well as that I received an anesthesia bill three months after the surgery that they never told me about. Just beware! When asked about this Raelynn the billing director passed the buck each time. I think the surgeons must know about this that is going on.. Be prepared to wait at your appointment to be seen as well.... read more

I was referred to Dr. Grove at Orion Eye Center in Redmond for a second opinion after a very difficult experience with a surgeon in Eugene Oregon that left me losing vision in my right eye for reasons unknown. Dr. Grove examined my eye & told me I had a "very aggressive cataract" developing as a side effect of the procedure I went through in Eugene. She and her staff were extraordinarily patient with their time explaining in detail all options and stages of treatment. I went through the procedure PAINLESSLY, with the result being full restoration of vision measuring at 20/15! A month later I went through the same procedure on my left eye where I asked and she even answered questions during the procedure, on my left eye! Vision restored to 20/20! I'm now enjoying the renewed gift of sight & near perfect vision, after a year of being almost blind in my right eye and deteriorating vision in my left. I cannot express adequately my appreciation of Dr. Grove for the compassion and skill with which she & her team cared for me. They're dedicated, clearly take pride and enjoy their work of helping people "see the light" once again!!! read more

This eye care facility is top notch. I went in for my first cataract surgery, not really knowing what to expect. I can truly say that my experience was excellent from beginning to end. The staff were friendly, courteous, helpful and thorough. Dr. Grove, the surgeon is easy to talk with and I felt completely at ease under her care. On the day of surgery I was in and out in less that 60 minutes! My vision in my left eye was corrected to 20 15, the kind of eyesight I had as a teenager and I am 67 years old! . My grandma who is 103 years old had an 11:30 appt. She had to wait 45 minutes in the car, they finally took her in and she waited another 30 minutes before they took her into a room. She had a procedure done that took 5 minutes and didn't get out of there until 3:00 pm. Additional appts have resulted in the same wait time. They need to figure out how to schedule appts and value their clients time. read more

Absolute ineptitude from phone contacts, to scheduling, to making patients wait for hours in their cars in their parking lot for 10 minute procedures. Appointments always delayed due to physician having an "emergency" AFTER waiting 30-75 minutes for contact regarding a delayed wait. I scheduled an appointment with the clinic to evaluate me as a candidate for cataract surgery. It took about a month to get in. When we drove in, the parking lot was almost full and I counted over 25 people in the waiting are. This made me a little suspect. I arrived at the clinic at my scheduled appointment of 1:10 PM and my wife asked how long it would take and if she had time to do errands. The receptionist said yes and hour to and hour and one half was how long it would take and this is pretty standard if they do a dilation. My wife came back a little before 2:00 PM and asked how long I had been done as I was still sitting in the waiting area. I told I hadn't been seen yet. After that (2:18 PM), they called me and when I got in the examination room I asked why they were running over an hour behind schedule and the response was "we are a busy clinic" I told her I didn't want anymore to do with the clinic and it was really rude of them to over schedule. So I'm looking to go somewhere. read more

I have NEVER been treated so poorly at a Dr office. Because I didn't agree with the HIPAA policy they wanted me to sign, they declined my treatment (and was referred by Dr, cause swollen face and pain). All I asked is if they wanted to use my records besides billing they needed to notify me. HIPAA is set to protect MY Privacy Practices not give then what every right they want. I hardly know where to start with my cataract surgery fiasco. I should have known things were not going to turn out right when one of the office staff came running into the pre-op room to have me sign a release form. It was all downhill from there. For months after the surgery I informed Dr. Traustason that I was experiencing tunnel vision, and he continually told me that it would go away in time. He was right. One year after the surgery I had a retinal detachment in my left eye. Two years later I had a retinal detachment in my right eye. The guy's a prophet! No more tunnel vision. Of course those operations were not free so it did cost me a few bucks. Oh, and then my second operation failed because the detachment and tears were so severe. So last December I went in for a third operation to have a schleral buckle operation. this is getting kind of expensive. Yea, you know, that didn't work either. I now have an eyeball floating round in the socket which is a great Holloween trick if you're into that kind of thing. So as I said I did sign a release form and there is this statute of limitations thing that doesn't help. So I sent off a letter asking the good doctor if maybe he could see it in his heart to give me a hand with all the money I've had to shell out for this crap. I asked for $20,000--nothing close to what it's cost me to date, but hell, it would help. Well that was 3 month ago. Do you think I'll be hearing from him soon? Well this feels better anyway. And one more thing. I have one more operation in March to see if this floating eye can be repaired. We're keeping our fingers crossed! read more
