My concerns were disregarded and I went to an appointment at 8:30 am and was unable to see the doctor until approximately 10:20 am; nearly two hours later due to apparent "complex" situation or issues with her patient before me. Then spent about 15 mins w/me assessing "dry eye" &ignoring/not effectively "checking" the issues I waited two hours to check affecting my eyes. Doctor gaslit me & I was snickered about by staff throughout.If you want easy patients with simple, clean, dry eye issues, or if that's all you have expertise or capacity to handle, why do you have a sign on the front desk pretending you can handle complex and intimate PII re: other issues **see your front desk sign encouraging patients to talk about other issues affecting them--boasting of your "skilled nurses" working there. I did not see qualified care, or ethical treatment other than dilating my pupils. The nurse also misinterpreted all that I described to her and the doctor walked in having no clue why I was there. read more

I have been going to Orion for monthly eye shots for about two yrs. Great staff and medical services have been excellent. Unfortunately the physician I had been seeing resigned on short notice. I then learned that another physician who I had never seen would be administering the monthly shots moving forward. As anyone who gets shots into their eyes will understand, there needs to be a high degree of trust where needles bring stuck into your eyeballs is the treatment plan. I knew Dr Traustason was highly experienced and a physician who started this practice but still, it is a leap of faith. I found her to be very professional and efficient and candidly the shots were entirely painless. And my recovery has been faster than what I have experienced. While I will miss my prior physician and wish him only the best, I feel confident that I was left in very capable hands. Orion managed the transition very well and really delivered. read more

Some years ago, my husband and I were in Hawaii when I suddenly started setting flashing lights in edge of my vision. Concerned, I sought eye care upon return and discovered that I was in the early stages of a retinal detachment. Somehow the physician, Dr. Kristine, laser-nailed the detaching material down and I haven't had any problems since. Whew! But in the process of the above, Dr. Kristine noticed rather advanced glaucoma (already a visual defect), even though I had just been examined by another physician and given a clean bill of health. I am being treated by Dr. Billinghurst, also at Orion, and, while the defect is still present, the glaucoma hasn't advanced in almost 15 years. I'm very grateful. I also had cataract surgery with Dr. Grove. I had no complications and can see 20/20 the last time I had a check-up. Again, great relief and gratitude for their skills. Besides the vision-saving care for an assortment of problems, I found the entire staff from the front desk to the physicians to be friendly, cheerful, and efficient. In short, I would say that the advanced eye care offered by Orion is a tremendous asset for Central Oregon. I know it's been a critical service in my own life. read more

Brent J Prineville, Oregon (November 18, 2024) I had cataract surgery in October 2024. Orion Eye Center is a great place and the staff is awesome. The surgery was performed by Dr Grove. I am a little disappointed in the results. I have completed all of the follow up office visits and eye drops. I had my final exam by my ophthalmologist last week. My right eye is 20/30, my left eye is 20/40. I was expecting that, at least both eyes would be the same if not 20/20. It is, however, very nice to be able to see clearly at a distance. Dr Billinghurst is GREAT! The techs are good also. The big problem is that they are severely under staffed on the clerical side. My pharmacy and myself have been trying to get an authentic for my Glaucoma medication for four days! A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. :( read more

I had lens replacement surgery done in both eyes. Dr. Billinghurst is amazing: professional, caring, and a great communicator. While having to go to their Redmond office (from Bend) is a pain, the visits were always very quick, without much waiting time at all. And the surgeries were also fast, in and out in a half hour or so. Four hours later, the eye patch came off and I could see again. Now, weeks later, I have 20/20 vision in both eyes. Fabulous care from the moment you walk in the building! Front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. The exam techs who do the testing/screening prior to seeing the doctor are friendly and very kind as well. Dr Kristine Traustason is super in her care of my wet MD. I see her often for injections and thru her help and calm approach to my eye treatment I don't hate having to visit routinely for injections the rest of my life. She's honest in what I can expect and I appreciate that too. I cannot imagine my life if I had to see someone else for these injections. Lastly, when I started treatment I didn't have medical insurance and working with the office billing staff was easier than expected and they were super helpful as I counted down the days to medicare - It was a happy day to get on medicare and turn 65. KUDOS to whomever makes the hiring decisions they used an approach to create a wonderfully skilled, patient focused team!! read more

I have been going to this clinic for several years. I beleive the doctors know what they are doing, but I feel more and more that it is like a cattle trough--rush you in, do their job and rush you out. the staff seem to pick up the same attitude. It is hard to relax and have your eye injected with a needle when you feel like you can hardly even ask a question because you will make them get behind schedule. Today I was handed a card and told " here is your next appointment". I told her I could not make that time and she just told me to call back in and reschedule it--ie--I don't have time to help you find a time that will work for you. Additionally, at the surgery center, every single person is welcoming, calming, and provide explanations for each step prior to surgery. The clinic staff are the same - professional, courteous, and welcoming. My career was in clinical research and I interacted with many physicians across the sub-specialty arena, and Dr. Grove stands above most of those physicians which whom I worked, and has impeccable credentials to stand behind her great performance. For reasons that are not clear to myself, or the doctor, I had a cataract. A bit of mystery for someone my age. I connected with Orion Eye, a referral from Costco (gotta love that). My initial visit was to do all the testing, a lot of testing. Very professional and friendly staff. And very timely, no wait time. Based on the test results the recommendation was to remove a dense cataract in my right eye. Met with the scheduling coordinator, she laid it all out for me, schedule, prescriptions, pamphlets, etc., answered all my questions. The day of the surgery was seamless (the surgery was performed in their Redmond office). Lots and lots of eye drops, about 15 minutes of surgery. Total of two hours spent at their office. The surgery itself is a little disconcerting, but you can get a sedative if needed. In hindsight I should have done the sedative. The doctor called me that evening to see how I was doing. Follow-up with the doctor the following morning, a week after, then a month after. During that month there are a lot more eye drops. The results were a life changer for me. I was in a position of being totally unable to drive at night. Went into surgery with 2100 vision, came out with 20/20. I still need reading glasses because my "focusers" are too old, but I'm good to go with everything else. I love that in the after care information it talks about not straining and gives examples of what not to do - 1. no jogging and 2. no chopping wood. Check. Dr. Grove was my doctor and I was really impressed with both her and her staff. Great service, nice people. Great all around experience. read more

Waited over an hour and a half in room. Dilated my eyes but Doctor didn't come in the room for nearly an hour. Than when Doctor was finally coming to my room her and another employee stood outside of room and wispered and giggled for a couple of minutes. read more
