The staff was friendly and helpful starting with the front desk and then the eye exam followed by Dr. Stephanie Hoatson. I would definitely go back. I almost didn't go because of the previous reviews however, I had a very positive experience and I'm glad I went.

I called his office to make an appointment, the scheduler was very rude, she said have we seen you be for? I said yes, several years ago. (I have not lived in Bend for a few years). She said we don't have anything until November, her attitude was snotty. I went a head made an appointment because I like Dr. Dimmig. A few day later I discovered a new Doctor joined his clinic in March, so I called back thinking it might be faster to get in sooner. She again, told me the new doctor was booked out to November, Hmm, strange a new guy is booked out to November? I asked a friend to call and ask how far the doctors were scheduling out, my friend was told 3-4 months, I was with my friend when she called. It's a shame employees like her think they can represent the clinic with rudeness and lies. I managed my husband's clinic and if I had an employee behave in an undesirable way they were gone!

Bend Ophthalmology - Our eye doctor was personable, took time to discuss our questions/concerns, and was great with my two little kids. Nice work!

None of this was stated at first communication, only when trying to schedule follow up. I'd have preferred to know this in deciding to go there in the first place. The front office person, April, is rude and defensive and takes no responsibility for lack of transparency about this instead blaming me for being frustrated. Customer service 101 is empathize, express basic understanding, deescalate. Her defensive customer service approach is the opposite: tell you she's worked there over 6 years (so?) tell you she "doesn't know Dr Higgins schedule one day to the next", tell you it's your fault for not knowing he's got 2 offices and travels, tells you you're rude for asking questions she doesn't like and hanging up on you because she can't manage her own reactivity. Dr Higgins is great and I liked him but due to his unavailability and April's personality issues and lack of customer service skills I'd suggest avoiding this office!

His office is nice, generous, welcoming, happy and very knowledgable. He always took the time to explain every procedure in depth to me. I never felt rushed, brushed off, or anything like that. He was able to fully remove my tumor and gave me the gift of being cancer-free. I miss seeing him and his team, but I know he is busy helping the patients that need him most. Lastly, his office didn't skip a beat during this pandemic. They stayed strong in their efforts to help the community around them. They are an amazing team who goes above and beyond for their patients. I would recommend Dr. Higgins to anyone looking for an extraordinary doctor.
