They take the time to explain, educate and answer questions that provide me with knowledge and understanding of my eye healthy. The actual providers in this clinic are inept. They do not listen, they have prescribed contacts and glasses that are the INCORRECT prescription TWICE! I was told I did the eye exam wrong! How the hell can you do that?! TWICE! I cannot see with the contacts or the glasses I spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on. When I called to speak with Dr Coffman regarding my experience, he was dismissive, argumentative and combative. I also believe he flat out lied to me about an appt I had with a cataract dr that said I didn't need to be seen for cataracts. No treatable evidence. DONT GO HERE! read more

I had a similar experience to what others have mentioned. The service from the doctors and staff during my appointment was wonderful -- friendly, professional, and thorough. However, the experience changed once I reached the desk to pay and or order glasses. The person at the check out desk was very dismissive and told me I had no coverage for glasses. When I politely explained that I was certain my plan included coverage, she insisted I was wrong and doubled down on her claim. After leaving, I called the billing department to verify -- and they confirmed that I did in fact have coverage. The entire situation was unnecessarily frustrating. It could have been resolved easily with a bit more professionalism and a willingness to double-check before dismissing the patient. Eye doctors are wonderful. Supporting staff is terrible. We were overcharged $70+ per our insurance company. Coffman billing person was extremely rude (same experience a year ago also) and hung up on me within one minute. His supervisor was somewhat helpful, but did not resolve the $70 overcharge and lied about their Yelp customer rating, saying it was 4.9 out of 5 stars.(it is actually 3 stars out of 5). A quick review of customer feedback on Yelp will confirm that others are being treated similarly. read more

On a pure "services-rendered" level... A+. The equipment seems to be top-notch, the techs are polite, quick, and competent. The lady behind the desk was very nice. Doctor Coffman knew his stuff. On everything else... this is a sales joint. Dr. Coffman had a very bubbly and performative demeanor that immediately dropped completely once I asked for my pupillary distance. It's not enough that they can bill your insurance, they're going to try to socially engineer you into purchasing glasses from them as well. I was tempted to drop even more stars for this but the service itself was satisfactory. To the owners: I'm not a rich guy. I can't afford to drop a bunch of money on Ray-Bans or whatever. Trying to pressure me into buying frames and lenses we both know are sold at a markup is offensive. Your customers aren't marionettes full of money to be danced on strings until they remit. I won't be coming back, and I don't recommend anyone else give this place their business. It's just very slimy and sales'y. Very gross. There are just too many other optometrists in town. read more

The staff was super friendly, the doctor was kind (everything I did was "great!" sigh). Then... Once you are done with your exam, you will be placed into a "hot seat" to be sold glasses. I was just trying to get to work. When I made it clear that I was not buying glasses that day, the mood shifted. It's like most professional services here in Bend, an upsell every step of the way, if you play along everything is peachy, but if you break stride it's all one-word answers and the friendly vibe evaporates. I may have caught someone on a bad day and your experience may be different but just know that this is my personal opinion based on my one visit. I had previously given two-stars but then put myself in their shoes. I can see the need to move people from exam to purchasing, I just didn't like that it was implied and it got awkward. The optometrists are friendly and competent. What I've noticed in my last couple of visits is that once the exam is over and they order your glasses, your experience will suffer a bit. When I went to pick up my glasses, instead of someone checking everything was right. the receptionist just had me read their business card on the desk. Later I found that the focal point on the lenses was set too high. Had to go back. Then I sat and waited an hour as, it seemed that because I wasn't buying new glasses, the optical sales folks would pass me over in line for (commission?) customers who I was ahead of. They finally had someone come from the back after I mentioned my wait time. So they order my new lenses, I return and the person who was supposed to check for fit, hurriedly checked the focal point was fixed and sent me on my way, only to discover soon after the frames were crooked. Stopped by weeks later for frame fix. I waited with another patient who was there for the same reason and had the same experiences I had. Also funny how they see my (premium) optical insurance, they gush about how great it is and 'oh by the way', it'll still be $200-$400 out of pocket! read more

Our son wanted to start using contacts, so we began the process with Coffman. To save money we purchased an entire year. We were, for some reason, only given 6 months. When we needed the other 6 months worth we were told we had received the entire year's worth. We had not, and they stated that too much time had passed and we were out of luck. Mr Coffman himself said this. They stated that we should have asked about this sooner. Very shady and dishonest about the entire situation. There are plenty of more affordable options available, so don't waste your time with this business. read more

My experience with Coffman Vision is really good. Front desk is friendly and professional. Dr. Coffman performed my eye test; he obviously loves what he does, is very amiable, and his thoroughness was better than I seen in many years of annual eye tests with other clinics. They have lot of frames on display, and my Optician, Raegan, found a set of Oakleys and paired with a top line set of progressive lens. I got the glasses yesterday, after waiting only a week for them. And, the total cost was about 60% less that I thought it would be, considering I don't hold back on $ for my eye care. Bottom line is I highly recommend Coffman Vision for Central Oregon eye care. read more

Possibly the worst eye doctor experience of my life. They didn't precheck my insurance, so I had to pay full price on my annual exam. I understand that checking insurance is not easy, but a place in Redmond was able to check in about 3 minutes. Coffman had my information for three weeks. If billing wasn't bad enough, their selection of standard men's frames is without a doubt the worst in central Oregon. And don't try calling them 10 minutes before closing, because they shut their phones off. read more

It's supposed to be vision "care," but it's clear this practice doesn't care about patients, just about maximizing their appointment calendar. I had a satisfactory first appointment with them last year, though their prices for frames/lenses were unusually high so I went elsewhere for those. I scheduled my next appt one year in advance. They left a message a few weeks out asking me to call and confirm. I was traveling and couldn't get back to them for a few days. I reached them more than 2 weeks prior to the appt, and they had already silently cancelled my appt! Even worse, the woman on the phone showed no sense of understanding or compassion. Next appt in 4 months, take it or leave it. It was a classic, "that's just our policy" kind of poor customer service. If you like just being a number, this is just the spot. read more

My second time to use their services. Excellent experience with Dr. Guiley, their senior physician. Large selection of glasses to choose from and if they don't have the one you want they can order it in quickly. Currently the only downside is that it is difficult to get a quick appointment, think I waited almost a month. I will use them again next year as well. read more

I should of read reviews prior to my appointment for exam at Coffman. After my eye exam by the assistant, not the doctor, it appeared my eyes had changed. I had purchased my current glasses from Coffman a year ago and was stunned my prescription had changed. When I saw the doctor I commented on any eye vision change. He didn't look at my prior prescription or discuss any difference. When I inquired about which would be the best for me and if I could use contacts vs glasses since I have one eye near and one eye for distance, his comment is "he doesn't discuss contacts. I would of liked to know if it was possible but "he doesn't discuss contacts. Guess I need another appt for contacts and then he would probably tell me he doesn't discuss glasses. When I tried to discuss options with one of the many girls in the office I could not get any answers. Their goal was to SELL me another pair of glasses. I could not get any answers from anyone and was upset. Next I get a letter that to find another clinic, "my condescending tone". Because I had questions which were not addressed.I had already decided not to ever return. All they want to do I felt is sell Glasses in very expensive frames. Only one year after receiving my glasses they were so quick to sell me another pair. I don't have hundreds to put toward frames. I followed up with my surgeon that did my cataract surgery, gave him my new prescription and was advised not much different from a year ago and I didn't really need new glasses. So many people recommended this clinic in a local Facebook group and I was able to see why. My husband and I both went to get our initial eye exams (since moving here) and we were very happy with everything. Every interaction I had - from my phone calls to make appointments with the receptionists, to the technician who started the basic checkup (I think Amanda?), my short but helpful visit with Dr. Prickett, and looking for glasses with Optician Jessica. My husband and I felt very welcome and taken care of. My husband has perfect eyesight so he got to use his benefit on a new pair of Maui Jims, while I got a new pair of Flexons (because my eyesight isn't so great LOL). I was hoping my prescription didn't change and I was able to get a new pair of sunglasses also. Oh well. Nonetheless, we're both very happy with this clinic and highly recommend it!! read more

What a great experience! Not only are their staff fantastic but they had an option for a machine to take eye scans rather than dialating my eyes. This was the best and most professional office ever. Was greeted right away when I came in and did my paperwork. This was my first time there. Was taken back and run through a lot of tests . Then my eyes were photographed, which I'm used to having done. I appreciate this place that has this option and I'm more than willing to pay for it. Then I saw the doctor and she was excellent Dr. Erin Follen. She explained my eyes and asked questions , I never felt rushed. I saw Meredith Nowak who fitted me for glasses, seriously took the time to fit me and make sure I was happy. Nothing could have been better from beginning to end, very professional. I had gone to one other optometrist here that sadly was lacking in so many areas. I was losing hope to find the experience and expertise I had been used to. Highly recommend! They don't return calls (3 messages in the past week alone), and then they manifested a billing scenario that does not make sense. I chose Coffman Vision Clinic after reading the reviews. They were good and I was new to the area needing an annual exam. My first impression after seeing Dr.Coffman was encouraging but that soon changed. I was told there are about twenty people employed to assist with various jobs in the office. From what I experienced the employees who I was involved with were rude and did not follow through with what they said they were going to do. It was obvious no one knew what I had been told when I had to deal with someone new. I was told contacts were ordered and when I check on them a week later they had not been ordered. I was told I'd get a follow up call from Regan and never did. This went on for seven weeks following my exam as I found contacts that would work for me. It appears that whoever manages the office either is not aware of the poor quality of client service or is possibly the reason for it. I recommend someone evaluate the employees to assure they are the type of people who promotes the business with kindness, concern and professionalism. read more

Just received my glasses I had ordered from them. They aren't at all what I had ordered right down to the color. I was handed them with fingerprints on the lenses and no cloth to wipe them. Quality was horrendous! I should have know better because the girl who assisted me obviously didn't know what she was doing the entire time. Dr. Coffman and his practice are extremely unprofessional and childish in their behavior towards customers. His office manager told me to "find another eye doctor" and then hung up on me after I asked to have the doctor call me. I called back only to be hung up on. A week later, I received a letter saying I wasn't allowed back to his office as the office manager claimed I threatened to come into the office and interrupt the doctor. I would never do this nor say this. I also didn't use profane language as the letter claims. This is 100% untrue and made up by the office manager. I've been a customer of theirs for 10+ years and never have had any prior incident with the staff. In fact, I actually like everyone there prior to my last call to simply request a refill on a prescription. I'm a type 1 diabetic and my eye health is important. It's unfortunate Dr. Coffman doesn't think so. I've attempted to email the doctor, call the doctor but no response. I cannot believe that a doctor would act so unprofessional and not even discuss my call with me. He simply sent a letter and that's it. Dr. Coffman, give me a call to discuss. We ordered my daughter's ($400) glasses a month ago and just got them yesterday. I called twice and got two different excuses as to why they were taking so long. They did give me Starbucks gift cards but a month is a very long time to wait. Also, we sent my husband there who spent another $1000 between exams and two sets of glasses. We asked to get the $25 referral for sending him there and we were told no. Not super impressed with all the "No" we got for our $1500. read more

I was looking for a prescription renewal for my contacts and made an appointment with 1) a provider that listed under my insurance and 2) in a convenient location. . .but got so much more. Dr. Coffman exceeded my expectations and raised the bar of eye care to a whole new level. His passion and enthusiasm about the health of his client's eyes is very transparent in his kind and down to earth, but very detailed explanations of eye care. Dr. Coffman is one of the few doctors I have met who has been this excited about about his field of study. Just a few things that Dr. Coffman educated me about was how vision changes throughout the years, how contacts affect eye health and even how the oils ducts in the eyelids affect vision. Who knew? Been with them 10 years....last 2 years have not been a happy camp...not with the staff/ doctors as they are good...my problem has been in the lens grinding...not the prescription. ...vision was better but blurry . With some experience with Corning Glass military division who make precision radar domes, grinding is a art depending on the quality of the glass used....I suggest Coffmans contractor grinding of these lens over 2 years needs a quality and calibration checkout. read more

I have been going to Coffman for over fifteen years, my son, 12 years. I have, over the years, noticed extreme price gouging at this facility. When choosing glasses last month, I was told that just my lenses would cost almost 800.00. Their frames are very overpriced as well. When I asked if they had any other frames that were maybe cheaper, the woman working with us, who was not very kind or helpful, got a drawer full of loose frames, and sat there staring at us as we looked at the 99.00 frames. It was extremely humiliating and I walked out. I then went to Costco to price their glasses, and was very surprised to find out that I can get the exact lenses, plus Oakley frames, for 250.00. Needless to say, we will not be returning to Coffman after 15 years. There is no need to pay such prices just to be able to see!!! Goodbye, Coffman. read more

We arrived from Medford late last night. When my husband, a physician, woke up this morning a screw had fallen out of his glasses and and the lens had fallen out. He arrived at your clinic at 9:45 and waited outside. There was only 1 other patients and 2 employees. Your employee REFUSED to simply put the screw back in his glasses citing being too busy. There is NO excuse for this. COVID-19 does not excuse the worst kind of customer service..... refusals to help when it would simply take seconds to do so. On a Saturday, from out of town and needing his glasses for the remainder of the weekend he is now trying to find somewhere else that will take 30 seconds to help him. I only mentioned that he is a physician above because he practices a style of medicine that you help if you are able to do so. Your employee practiced the exact opposite this morning and you should know that is the experience she is leaving people who are seeking help with. EDIT: He went to Wal-mart. They happily fixed it. It took 90 seconds. They didn't charge. He tried to give them $$ to buy their lunches and they wouldn't except it. THAT is customer service. read more

First time getting contacts (after wearing glasses for 9 years) and absolutely LOVED my visit. Everyone I can into contact with was very nice and helpful. Dr. Erin was amazing, and incredibly thorough. She made sure I understood everything. Chris helped show me how to take out and put in my contacts. The prices are great for such high quality care.
