Tommy Koulax is turning over in his grave right now. I grew up on Tommy's, mostly in the valley and the original on Rampart. There aren't any near me so when I happen to pass by one I get an instant craving. Happened to see there is one here in Norwalk which is kinda on the path to and from work. Never, ever, again. I should have walked out on first impression. Store was not clean, someone's trash at the order counter, all the employees in the back, nobody up front for a minute. Started to read reviews prior to ordering (good thing they didn't load) before first employee acknowledged me and took my order. He was nice enough. The place is a disaster, and the food is even worse. The savory burger I once knew now consisted of a stale bun, two tiny burnt excused of patties haphazardly thrown in. It's been about two decades since I have been to an Original Tommy's! Was recently in the neighborhood and saw the "open" sign after 8am on a Sunday. Perused the menu and opted to get a breakfast burrito for the hubby. For myself I thought something with their famous chili would be too much for me so went with the classic burger to go. The burrito has chili and eggs in it and hubby thought it was tasty. In his college days, he had many of their chili burgers. For my the simple burger was good especially their sauce. Not my favorite burger place but good. The inside of the restaurant is greasy spoon vibes. Restrooms are outside with key entrance. The cashier was polite and efficient. Just 3 stars. read more

We came here after attending the Green Day concert at So-Fi Stadium. Leaving So-Fi is difficult as the police redirect traffic in the opposite direction you want to go. Tommy's was on the way home, and in a safe area so I decided to eat here. I have loved Tommy's since I was a boy and ate with my father. I work nights and last night, I worked. I gave a coworker a ride home and she lives in Norwalk, so after drilling her off, I was craving something to eat. Driving home, I passed Tommy's. I ordered a double chili cheese burger combo and a chili cheese hotdog. I, generally, don't like fries, but the fries were good. I then ate the hot dog, it was good. Then I had the burger, it was so mid and dry. The burger bun was tasteless, it does nothing for the burger. I'd go back, but not for the burger. I recently went and asked for my food to go, the guy serving it got a little upset with a cook who didn't take my order, but I apologized saying I thought I made it clear my food was to go. I've made multiple complaints about this place and it's abhorrent that nothing has been changed or improved about it. I love Tommy's and this is the closest one located where I live and visit a few times a month for a meal. I come with my kids most of the time. The service sucks and is dreadful, a heavy set girl who always takes my order is always in a mood and rolls her eyes and seems bothered! Very happy with this Tommy's the one on Pioneer and Alondra in Norwalk. The kind lady, Martha, who takes the orders in the morning is thorough, pleasant, and considerate. I appreciate her attention to detail and focus; sometimes her male coworkers speak loudly and it makes it difficult to hear her and for her to hear me, but she's certainly more patient than I am and she always gets my sometimes-complicated orders correct. When the employee behind the counter appeared with a clown face covering, I wasn't sure if I was going to be held up or chopped up. The inside was clean, albeit with the warmth of a prison cafeteria. BOGO chili cheese dog when you show or mention the Facebook promo thru 9/7/20 *Social Distancing Review* I remember having Tommy's chili cheese burgers once or twice, back in my high school days. The only thing I recall was how messy eating Tommy's can get. Listening to a Youtube "Let's Talk Fishing" show, someone mentioned to the host about the BOGO chili cheese dog promotion. Not one to pass on a good deal, especially when it comes to food, I saw the opportunity to patronize an eatery I haven't been to since many moons ago. Normally, Tommy's open at 9 am. Arriving about 9:30 am, I was greeted by a locked door w/ a sign showing hours are now 10 am - 10 pm everyday. No problem. I spent the time by taking pics & vids of the exterior, along with the adjacent businesses. Some staff came out, and were informed I was customer, probably thinking I might have been up to no good. Can't blame them, really. They let me know about the 10 am opening. Chili cheese dog- Heavy & a lot of food, I was quite disappointed. Tommy's is popular for their chili, and I found it bland. I liken it to eating mud. The onions, pickles & tomato really helped add flavor to a lackluster menu item. I also appreciated the snap of the hot dog. Again, a lot of food, but a lot of boring. Chili cheese fries- Big, thick, crispy fries, which unfortunately, smothered under that nondescript chili. This time, w/o onions to break up the monotony. I found this hard to finish, because, to echo my previous statement, it was if I were eating mud. Service was fine. I was the first in line, and fries were freshly deep-fried & my order came out in a little bit. Parking is via private lot at the Alondra Square, with a drive-thru for those looking to stay in their vehicle. My triumphant return to Original Tommy's, and I was let down. I'm glad I had the BOGO chili cheese dog promo, as I would've been more disappointed if I spent regular price on the food. Wienerschnitzel is much better & more delicious, in my opinion, and there are several locations closer to me than Tommy's. I won't be coming back. read more

I could not finish my double chili burger and chili fries. They put cheese on my burger when I did not request it. Comparing this location to the first Tommy's in L.A. is night and day. This location lacked seasoning, enough mustard; and toppings were not fresh besides the tomato.. Maybe.. The cheese wasn't even melted. The fries could have been seasoned more as well.
