Went here last night on a date and I had the Sea Bass special and my date had Pad See Ew with shrimp. The Pad See Ew was great, the noodles were cooked to perfection and the shrimp was tasty. The sea bass was good but the veggies that came with it were over cooked and limp. The soy sauce it had on it was very good. We also shared a chicken satay, which was very good, I think it was $8 for four skewers. The service was very good and it was BYO. So that was good. The place is big and can accomodate many people. But our server could not speak english that well and I we don't speak Thai. So it was difficult to explain any special preperation I wanted with the fish. But it came out ok. Get there early in the night. We went on a thursday night and it was packed but met there at 6pm. It got crowded quickly. read more

The food is good. Not out of this would but good. The food was very rich I'm flavor and the texture are just right. The servers are very nice and attentive. I love that it is byob because most of the cost when you go out is spent of the drinks. I love there attention to detail, for example the original coca cola bottles is such a classy touch. It seems like a lot of soccer moms come out here, but none the less a very nice experience. read more

Very good dinner...started with crab/ shrimp spring rolls and chicken Skewers. My Husband had chicken pad Thai & I had the grilled salmon with garlic sauce. This was our first time here & we will definitely be back to try different dishes. read more

The food is good but the customer service is HORRIBLE. I've eaten there several times and everytime I feel like we've been rushed to order, eat, and get out. I hate that. If I'm over paying for fake Thai food then at least let me eat at my own pace. My friends and I have decided not to eat here anymore. We rather drive an extra 10 or 15 minutes to another place that will let us eat in place. Jackasses. read more

I've eaten here twice. The first time was fuh eva ago when it just opened (I think). I was battling a diesel head cold, and ordered "the soup" coz it was "spicy." (This was actually in the very beginning of my thai addiction, so I was completely unfamiliar with names of typical dishes.) Wow. It was hard to put down, but it was damn good! I also had the green curry which was delicious. The next day, my cold was gone. POOF! And so began my obsession with tom-kha-soup-kills-cold tactic! The second time was last year. I was working in the area, and in need of spicy, healing thai food. I walked in and asked if they had panang curry. It wasn't on the menu, but the lady asked the kitchen, and they were able to accommodate :) I have never had panang curry like what Origin created. It was like fresh, homemade panang curry with actual peanuts in the sauce! WOW. so good. read more

Much like it's sister restaurant in Somerville, this restaurant offers an excellent departure from Americana fare. Featuring a Frenchized palette version of Thai food, the quality and service are excellent. Read my full review of the Somerville location: http://www.yelp.com/biz/origin-frenchthai-inc-somerville?hrid=JXvi4XwJ43ihSj0BS0WqKA The Morristown is equal in every aspect, minus the outdoor seating. Love this place, I find it to be one of the best Thai restaurants around. I usually go there for lunch, nice atmosphere, clean and attentive staff. Only negative is bathrooms are in the basement. We went there for dinner a couple of times and it was a byob. read more

This is our go-to Thai restaurant. Every meal we have eaten at Origin Thai 2 has been tasty, hot and great portion size. Many options to choose from and each are very delicious! Great location in Morristown. Would recommend giving a try. read more

The food here is terrible. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants. The soup was watery. My noodle lunch was greasy and was missing the usual amount of chicken- I had about 3 pieces today and 2 small shrimp. It was all noodles and lettuce. So disappointed, won't return. read more

Origin Thai is one of our favorites! The food is full of flavor, and the service is incredible. We typically order the Pad Thai, Red Curry and Pad See Eww. The staff was having an extremely busy night but they still took the time to greet every customer and confirm that the orders were correct. read more

When I arrived the owner was able to add additional items to my order but unfortunately they aren't set up for mobile payments at the restaurant, so I lost time searching for an ATM, moving away from that incident I plan to return there again. read more

Kind of average dinner. Spice was good, but was all there was - no depth of flavor. It was good, just nothing outstanding. I hope the waitress was new. She cleared the table next to us, then came and put the other tables used silverware on our table so she could stack all the dishes together. Also couldn't answer questions regarding menu. We had been there in the past, and our memory was better than the reality. read more

Good food and atmosphere. The soup could have been a bit more spicy and the curry a bit less so, but these are minor details. I will definitely come back! read more

I came in for a quick lunch and ordered the shrimp dumplings and pad that. Both dishes were delicious and wood recommend this place to all thai food enthusiasts. They can do a little better with service though specially for basic stuff like handing out salt/pepper and sauces. We tried the spot after seeing them featured on Instagram. Delicious! Very cute inside, can't wait to dine in when lockdown is over. The prices may seem a bit high, but it's definitely enough food for two meals at least. Try the Bangkok duck and massaman curry! read more

Food is excellent but service worst ever you can imagine. Im working also in restaurant industry and it never happend in my life being so disrespectful and rude to customer like a waitress name SERENA. She is acting like she s working for punishment, she doesnt even Look at you while taking order and being extremely rode during all expirience. Acting like doing huge favour being alive. And also making all kind of rude faces. Other customers were asking us when we were leaving of food is worth it coz she was extremely rude to them also. I hope owner would take a Look on that case coz food is really good and its not worth to be mess up by service like that read more

One of my favorite Thai spots in NJ. I'm here for business a few times a year and always stop in here for dinner at least one night. The owner is very friendly. The food is excellent. They're currently open through the pandemic for dine in and are taking all of the precautions. It's sad to see restaurants like this suffer so please help support them to keep them in business. Great food/staff/service every time. read more

This place is sooooo good! Probably the most flavorful Thai I've had and the portions are very generous. Pad see ew and both the green and red curry are my favorite. Plus sticky rice with mango is such a nice sweet treat! A perfect spot for takeout during COVID, can't recommend this place enough! read more

This restaurant had a lot to like, but in the end it wasn't as good as I expected. Perhaps the Thai is different out East, but the Tom Kha (the standard by which I judge all Thai food) was much more sour than spicy. That being said, the ambiance and the service were quite good, and the menu looked quite diverse and interesting. Give it a shot. read more

This is one of the best Thai restaurants in NJ. I had chicken satay as appetizer along with house salad. The chicken was a little over cooked. The salad was big and great variety. Would definitely order it again. The shrimp Gra paw was perfectly cooked, vegetables slightly crunchy. BYOB is a plus. I suggest eating upstairs, downstairs feels like a basement and was too noisy. Have yet to have had a meal that disappoints. I also love that you can get traditional dishes or something with French flair. I rarely dine in at this location, but the wait staff have always been great. My go-to is the Bangkok duck if I am dining in ( I find when I get it to go the duck skin loses its crispness). It is the perfect combination of French and Thai. Love the curry. For takeout I usually gravitate towards green curry or noodles. Whatever you chose, it would still be a great choice. read more

After having three experiences here, I'm ready to write about it. After hearing rave reviews from friends, I ordered takeout from Origin one night. I was sort of put off by the Manhattan-esque prices, but the curry puff and chicken satay appetizers were unbelievably delicious. I was sort of underwhelmed by the Pad Thai -- it was good, but not worth the price. The second time, I ate at the restaurant with a friend. The ambiance is pleasant enough, despite the inconsistence in service and the semi-cramped dining space. It's good to know that the restaurant is BYOB -- I didn't! I ordered a noodle curry dish, which was very good, but my friend's duck salad was so spicy that she couldn't finish it. Spiciness is to be expected with Thai food, but there was nothing on the menu indicating the fiery nature of the salad. About a week later, I decided to order takeout again. This time, the food was still pretty good, but it made me so sick that I do not plan on ever eating it again! The curry puffs alone are worth a good four and a half stars, but inconsistency and illness-inducing experiences are knocking my rating down to two stars. I also find it odd, as Anna mentioned, that although Origin bills itself as a Thai-French fusion restaurant, there's scarcely a hint of French food on the menu. If you're looking for Thai food in Morristown, you should skip Origin altogether and proceed down South Street to Sirin, where I have never had anything but excellent food and service! read more

Honestly...the food was good but not great. The whole schtick was trendy thai french fusion. There was very few french things on the the menu - and the items were not particularly "fused"...so that they had pad thai and steak frites...but not steak frites on rice noodles (mmmm don't know about that one...but you get the point). It was just good, average thai food. The one unfortunate thing that I did not know ahead of time is that they don't have a liqor license...byob. read more

Fast service with good Thai options. Highly recommend their papaya salad, their pad Thai, and in general their curry choices.

Recently tried this with some reluctance. I really don't understand French Asian as fusion but (I still don't know what the French influence was) the meal-service-decor are top shelf. I welcome ownership of anyone who can or wants to tell me what the French part is would be appreciated. read more

When my husband and I don't mind an occasional splurge, we come here for delicious fusion french thai food. They have the best duck, and all their thai dishes are amazing. It's just on the expensive side, which is why I eliminated one star. Other than that, the ambiance is great, there's downstairs seating for large groups, and it's BYOB! Can't complain. read more

Nice place with plenty of street parking. Menu is not overwhelming, and the food is flavorful and typical.

I really enjoyed my experience at Origin. The food was good, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, and it's the perfect place to take someone special on a Friday or Saturday night. When we first arrived, there was many tables open, but they placed us at the back of the restaurant in a corner. I don't know why they would do that, no one likes sitting in a corner. We started with an appetizer special they had for the night. A fried soft-shell crab topped with a mango salsa. Delicious!! Though it was fried, it wasn't greasy or oily. If you see it on the menu, I highly recommend it. I ordered the Grilled Salmon as my main meal. It's not a large filet, but it was very good as well. One odd thing... Apparently it was someone's birthday. It was fairly quiet until all of a sudden a birthday song comes through the speaker and is insanely LOUD. I don't mind it, but turn it down a bit. read more

Food is subpar, nothing really special. Made reservations for a group of 14 celebrating a pre-wedding dinner. Service was terrible, restaurant manager (Nikki) was very rude. She said we had to leave now because they wanted to leave, but there were other guests still seated for dinner, which was weird. she then said we should never come back. Bad service after you throw down 700 for dinner. Would not recommended, needs new manager. read more

Nikki the waitress is the WORST waitress I have ever encountered in my life. Went here for for a pre-wedding party with a positive vibe, and she completely ruined our night. She was EXTREMELY rude to our party, and talked to us in a very inappropriate manner. We made reservations at 8, but table was not ready until 8:30. When you rack up $700+ check, you'd expect spectacular service, but Nikki rushed us and made us feel extremely unwelcome. She cursed at us as we left (WE HAD CHILDREN WITH US). As restaurant patrons, we were never disrespectful or rude all night. To have someone treat us the way she did, I will never come back to this place. Her pathetic ass needs to be fired! read more

We're big fans of Origin in Morristown. While the staff could definitely be better (speaking English would help), the food is way above average with excellent presentation (they seem to have a different-shaped plate for every appetizer and entree). Insider's tip: get there before 6:30 for better service, no wait and zero pressure from the staff that's trying to turn over the table. Favorite dishes: Shrimp and crabmeat spring roll; curry puff; arugula apple and fennel salad; Pad See Ew; Pad Thai; grilled salmon; read more

If your in the area and your looking for a decent Thai meal this is the place for you. The food is good but still does not compare to one of favorites. I've definitely had better Thai cuisine in the area so I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but it's perfect if your in the area. The interior has a warm and inviting atmosphere. The upstairs did seem a bit crammed but not too badly where it would become an issue. There is a lower level which is more spacious so request a seat downstairs if you can. To be honest, you cannot beat the location of this restaurant. Origin is just steps away form the green in Morristown which is a great area to eat if you are looking to grab drinks afterward. BYOB is a perfect way to save some coin before blowing all your cash at the bars across the street. read more

#1. Small menu #2. Awful service #3. Hovering over someone's table for the entire dinner is very enjoying and inappropriate #4. When a waitress whips your face with her long pony tail, thats just disgusting! And she does not apologized for it!? #5. Asking for extra tip for such bad service, what planet are you from? #6. Asking when I'm from and if I'm European??? Sir, your service sucked and you just discriminated me... #7. Food was ok but me and my girlfriend will NEVER go back there! read more

I had dinner at my bachelorette party here and it was really good! As you may see from my prior entries, I love Thai so this place impressed me. The decor was trendy/modern and it's a BYO (and we brought vodka because that's the type of night it was going to be) and the food was AMAZING. The two cuisines are intricately inventive together and I more then enjoy Thai which was mainly prevalent in the menu. There were a lot of choices. The service was great and everyone got what they wanted and more. I was amazed at my appetizer because it was still in shells, snail shells (normally snails are not at other places) but I like stuff like that. My friends all enjoyed their food and we were there for a while without getting rushed. Highly recommended. read more

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Morristown. I always get take out and have never dined in but I love it and keep coming back when I want Thai food to go! read more

I dont know why I keep coming back here... but I think the last time I was here was my last! I always feel like the servers are trying to rush you out (restaurant isnt full either!). Also, the last time I was there was for a birthday party and one of my friends brought cupcakes for the birthday girl. Our server refused to let us take out the cupcakes..About 10 minutes later I guess the server felt bad b/c she let us put a candle on one cupcake but told us we could not eat them in the restaurant. I've never had this problem before in a restaurant but I suppose maybe we should have called and asked in advance. Either way, 8 of us just racked up a hefty check and you think they would have let it slide. Food is mediocre, many other good thai choices in the area. read more
