I've been coming to this nail salon roughly every 3 weeks for over a year and my nails always turn out great! However, sometimes the experience itself can be slightly hit and miss. I always make an appointment so that I won't have to wait, and on most days my dip powder manicures take under an hour and a half (including the soaking time to remove the previous powder.) Today I had an appointment at 10am but wasn't done until almost 12:30 because they did someone else's entire manicure while leaving me to soak off the old powder (something that should only take 15 minutes.) It would be a lot better if they would honor appointment times and not take too many clients just because someone isn't busy for a few minutes. I also feel that the person doing my nails today was not very experienced-- she filed my nails too roughly and ripped one of my nails off so there was no length at all left. She said it was because my nails are so thin but I've never had that happen before (in the many many times I've been getting manicures here) and they're only thin because they get filed so roughly. She was going to cut them all super short and round until I asked for a nail tip to fix it, but she didn't know how to apply them and another technician had to stop giving a manicure to help. I was charged extra for the tip. I was told I should take a break from getting manicures because of how thin my nails are, but I feel like if they were a little more careful my nails wouldn't have to be so thin? It's not like I'm doing anything to my nails between appointments, and my nails aren't that long that they should break so easily. I really don't want to stop coming here because the manicures really do always look great, but I might need to try soaking the dip off myself + prepping my nails at home next time. If my rating were based on results alone I would give 5 stars, but because of the issues with overbooking appointments and occasionally very rough and rushed filing/buffing I have to update my review. read more

The only nail spa I can trust in my neighborhood! Origin is clean and polished. The tools used are sanitized and come out from a fresh package. Plastic barriers were installed during COVID but were done so in a classy manner. The prices are fair and the service is excellent. The owner is very sweet, is almost always present at the salon and helps support her staff however she can. I got a gel manicure today and loved the TLC given to my nails. I have been growing them out and wanted to use a polish that would protect the length. I'm very happy with the results and look forward to being back soon for a pedicure. read more

Cute shop and quality service- I'll be coming back! I'm new to the neighborhood and I called ahead around 6:30 on a Wednesday to see if they could accommodate a gel manicure before they close at 8pm. They said to come at 7. When I arrived, they took me right away and Jennifer started diligently working on my nails. All the employees were wearing masks and all the patrons too, which I was relieved to see (given COVID is surging again :/) I haven't gotten gel before but it was $35 which seemed reasonable to me. The shop was clean overall and I was pretty content with the end of day cleaning I observed (I.e. sanitizing all the pedicure chairs, mopping the floors). My goodness! I wish Jen and her salon was back at home with me in Cali. She is literally the sweetest and most patient. If you're in the area, please come support her business! We originally found this place through Yelp and came in with an appointment. Vicky took care of my nail needs while Jen took care of my friend. I requested red French tips and my friend came in with a Pinterest inspired design. Originally, we were worried that it wouldn't come out great but Jen killed it. She sat with my friend and helped choose the right colors and study the picture as reference. I watched as she thoroughly painted each nail and in result, her nails came out super duper cute! My red tips turned out very clean and straight so I appreciate Vicky's work very much. Unfortunately, my original experience left too much of a bad taste, and I will not be returning. * Weirdest, rudest nail salon experience I have ever had. My technician asked me what pedicure I wanted, I asked for just the regular, basic one. She became visibly upset that I didn't want a more expensive one and proceeded to rush through my pedicure. I am still in SHOCK that she quite literally was mad at me for not upgrading my pedicure. ?! When it came time to pay there was a major miscommunication. I only had a credit card and not enough cash to cover my full service. I was told I could pay for my service via venmo, so I opted for that option. Right when I did that, it was as if all hell broke loose. All of a sudden, they stopped speaking English and I could no longer understand anything that was going on. I could tell something went wrong and when I was trying to ask nobody was explaining to me in English. The owner finally said everything was okay, I can go. Still, no explanation. Mind you, all of this back and forth has been going on for a while now and other clients in the nail shop are looking very annoyed/upset as well. I tried talking to my technician on my way out (saying thank you, that I left her tip with the owner) and she didn't even look at me, just --completely-- ignored me. I have gotten my nails done at probably HUNDREDS of places at this point throughout California and NYC - never never ever have I had such an odd, rude experience. This is my second time visiting this nail salon. I decided to give this place a second chance after my first visit. But, I unfortunately will not be returning. The job overall was quite messy. Nail polish was left on my toes, the massage portion was somewhat painful, they really only scrubbed 1 foot, the hot stone massage was lukewarm, and the technician had to go in with the trimmer several times after the nail polish was already placed. I also felt that the workers were more attentive of some of the other non-minority ladies, possibly due to expectation of receiving a larger tip. read more

I was in a pickle this morning looking for a place to get my nails & toes done, luckily I called right when they opened at 10am and the woman who answered the phone said she could take me (mind you I tried calling 4 other places but was told they're booked). I was thrilled! It's really difficult making appointments/reservations anywhere during the pandemic. When I arrived the lady who answered my call and another woman kindly greeted me. Then she took my temperature and asked me to wash my hands. They are doing a really good job at keeping the place COVID friendly. The pedicure chairs and nail stations have dividers setup between the technician and client. After each use they wipe everything down. They have a really large selection of polishes, gel polish and powders. My technician paid really close attention to detail and executed a perfect pedicure and color gel manicure. I was really pleased with the results. I like the exposed brick wall and dried flowers they have hanging throughout, for a cute touch. I will definitely return and highly recommend this nail salon. read more

Origin Nail Spa is a wonderful, woman-owned salon and they've really taken the COVID-19 precautions to the next level. Appointments are encouraged but not necessary; it is super easy to call and make an appointment. Everyone (of course including guests) wears masks, gets a temperature check, washes hands, and there are additional partitions added around the manicure tables and pedicure chairs. And just as soon as I was impressed I am disappointed. I called yesterday, as is shown in attached photo. I made an appt for 2pm today. I am 6 months pregnant. I planned my entire day around this 2pm appt. I walk in and am first told I don't have an appt, then I made a mistake and have a 4pm (they show me someone else's appt), don't apologize for their mistake then they say that I will need to wait 15-30 minutes to be seen. Again, I'm 6 months pregnant so I don't want to sit around in a crowded salon when I made an appt and have a dozen other things to do that i arranged to keep my appt. The best nail salon I've been to in BK! They did a fantastic job! It was a super busy Saturday and they were extremely accommodating to every customer took their time but still had a sense of urgency, it was so clean and my gel mani/reg pedi is still looking new after 2 weeks+ I over heard one of the girls remember a customer who left their jacket their over the winter and she remembered her and reunited her with her jacket!!!!!! With so many customers on a day to day I was impressed with their level of service! The only criticism was not a ton of SNS color options, they had the classics and neutrals but their gel selection and zoiya section was very extensive. Pricing- pretty on par with other salons (slightly more) but long lasting and so worth it! read more

I've tried this shop about three times because I got a decent pedicure but today's visit has put me off. First, the woman doing my toes pressured me not only to get a more expensive pedicure, which usually happens but kept asking me if I wanted longer foot massage, back massage and special nail treatment. When I kept turning her down she told me that the polish I chose, the one I usually pick, was going to be $2 more because it was "better". I was tired of dealing with her so said ok to that. Then she bumped my foot pulling out the chair and I didn't look carefully enough so didn't see that she'd messed up two nails on one foot. I didn't have time to go back in so just repainted it myself. Too many other places to bother with these folks again. * I just received the response from Jennifer, the manager. I was actually charged the extra two dollars even though I did not notice any special treatment, and, as I explained, I didn't have the time to return so I had to remove the polish and redo it myself. I checked over other reviews and people are either 5 stars or 1-2 stars. This tells me that the manager is either inconsistent in supervision or that some of the operators are simply poorly trained. So it is Russian roulette as to whether you get a good one or bad one. Also the high pressure to get more service was not relaxing. Again, not worth going back. read more

I came in for a very basic manicure--nails clipped short and filed, cuticles trimmed, clear polish. The result was mediocre. I asked the technician to file down the corners of my nails but she didn't do that very thoroughly. The nail shape is uneven. There are still sections of dry cuticle skin on all my fingers. The hand massage was light and limp; the neck massage while my nails were drying was perfunctory. Two stars for getting polish on my nails in a reasonably even fashion, and for no wait when I walked in. Jennifer & her team's work is incredible! She's beyond just my neighborhood nail salon.... I started coming to her salon right after she opened when I was living in Park Slope. Even after moving away, I still make it a point to come to her salon, and hers only. It's very clean & relaxing, she has great colors (and she's always refreshing her color selection), and is very meticulous and neat. I've been coming here for over four years now, so she knows me, how I like my nails done, and the exact shape and color palette I'm looking for. I've gotten regular mani/pedis, gel (lasts 3 weeks!), and my latest favorite is the SNS gel color (lasts 3-4 weeks), and I love exploring new designs and techniques with her. Sometimes, her salon is can get very busy on the weekends and peak hours (this is a good sign guys! she's popular...) so you may have to wait if you walk-in. I recommend making appointments or going weeknights if you can. In response to other's comments about feeling rushed... I've never had this impression; if you go when she's busy, you can expect that she's trying to take care of all her customers and still keep things moving. But never do I feel rushed. Origin is my nail spa because of what I just witnessed. This woman sitting next to me threw a tantrum saying she felt uncomfortable and that her technician was giving her attitude. I witnessed no such thing. Even worse she spat out, "Why can't she just speak English?" The humility on this poor woman's face broke my heart.
