I had been suffering from severe pain after a breaking my back and the operation that followed. We're talking years of the unbearable. It also meant years of searching for someone, anyone, who could fix me. Enter Dr. Lee. First thing I noticed was that he was actually listening to me. Who knew? He asked questions I had never been asked before. His game plan plenty of diagnostic tests, which proved me to a good candidate for a lumbar procedure. Voila! All of my back pain was eliminated, and I do mean all. I could do things I could not do for the past 4 years. Watch me pick up socks from the floor! Watch me stand and sit up straight! Watch me impress everyone with my new-found flexibility. All thanks to Dr. Lee and his wonderful colleague, Elizabeth. I could rave on and on, but I've already done that. Besides, I have things to do. Hello life, good to see you again.

I'm glad I googled to find where he moved his practice to, and luckily it's still close by. I wanted to go back to Dr. Lee because he addressed my pain and he's not treating pain management like a "pill mill". I prefer a proactive approach to medicine, so that's why I sought him out again. Google maps sent me to an old address, make sure you go to the building that's adjacent to Cal-State Fullerton NOT the old building by St. Jude. It took me a while to find this on google, but hopefully, it'll help others--here's a link to him under his new group: https://fcpporangecounty.com/bios/david-lee/

I felt like my body was twisted and unbalanced, but the PTs covered by my insurance weren't able to help me until the issue I had been expressing eventually led to a severe injury where I couldn't walk for about five days. The PTs would give me exercises that I could have easily found through ChatGPT or a simple Google search, and then send me to an aide. When I had questions, the aides often didn't know the answers. They gave me A LOT of at home exercises, almost a quantity over quality, hoping one works. Then I found Dr. Gary! He is very different from a typical PT. He listens carefully to all of my issues (pain and discomfort seemingly everywhere. I'm sure I sound like a hypochondriac ), and then gives me some really odd exercises that I would never have found on my own. Somehow, I always feel better afterward. He goes all the way down to the basics, even teaching me how to breathe to properly engage my core, when to breathe during an exercise, and exactly where I should be feeling each movement. It's not just "here are some exercises, go do them." He makes sure I understand why I'm doing them and what I should be feeling. He also consistently remembers to send me my homework, often with videos. With the other PTs I tried, I had to repeatedly hunt them down to get my exercises, so I ended up having to rely on memory. Dr. Gary also responds to my questions between sessions if I'm unsure about an exercise, which has been incredibly helpful in making sure I'm doing things correctly. What I appreciate most is how much he genuinely cares about learning and thinking critically. I can tell he is constantly processing what he's seeing and what I'm telling him during our sessions and trying to figure out the root cause of what's going on. He tests and retests his hypotheses until my body gives him feedback that he's on the right track. I'm incredibly thankful for Dr. Gary and the care he puts into his work. If you're dealing with something that feels "off" in your body, I truly believe your health is worth the investment. Don't wait until the problem becomes a serious injury like I did because of the limitations of the insurance system. Take the chance! you may be surprised by how much the right PT can help. Dr. Gary is absolutely worth it!

After many years of experience with physical therapy--both as a parent accompanying my son through…read morehis treatment and as someone who has seen firsthand the difference between average care and truly exceptional care--I can say without hesitation that this physical therapist is extraordinary. My son has dealt with significant orthopedic issues and chronic pain for many years. Beginning as a highly competitive young athlete, he has undergone multiple surgeries and an enormous amount of physical therapy. I honestly could not begin to count the number of appointments he has had over the years--certainly hundreds. We have seen physical therapists in numerous practices and have experienced virtually every type of approach imaginable. Nothing we have encountered compares to the care he is receiving here. What immediately distinguishes this therapist is the way he listens. He takes the time to understand the patient, asks thoughtful questions, and genuinely evaluates what is happening rather than simply treating the area where the pain happens to be. His understanding that the body functions as an interconnected system--not as a collection of isolated body parts--is evident in everything he does. Most importantly, the treatment is individualized. There are no generic exercises or one-size-fits-all protocols simply handed to the patient. He evaluates, observes, communicates, adjusts, and explains. He pays attention to subtle things that other practitioners have overlooked, and he treats the person rather than just the diagnosis. For someone who has spent years going from doctor to doctor and physical therapist to physical therapist, being truly heard and understood is enormously important. My son has responded to this approach in a way I have rarely seen throughout all of his years of treatment. This is a small practice, and I sincerely hope it grows, because exceptional practitioners like this deserve to be known. Anyone fortunate enough to get an appointment should consider themselves very lucky. The combination of knowledge, clinical reasoning, communication, compassion, and individualized attention is remarkably rare. I have spent years watching my son navigate physical therapy, surgeries, rehabilitation, and chronic pain. That experience has given me a very high standard for what I consider excellent care. This therapist has exceeded it. I only wish my mother, who has Parkinson's disease, had been able to see someone like him earlier in her journey. That is perhaps the strongest endorsement I can give: when you encounter someone who is this exceptional, you find yourself wishing everyone you love could have access to the same level of care. If you are able to get an appointment, I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend him.

What surprised me even more this time was how much better the office experience has become. His front staff and back staff are easily 200% better than my first visit years ago. Everyone was professional, friendly, organized, and actually cared about helping patients. Last month, I went to another pain management doctor because Yelp made it seem like Dr. Nini's office was only in Fullerton and not Los Angeles. That doctor refused to even try trigger point injections and immediately pushed me toward an epidural. I didn't really want one, but I was desperate for relief at the time, so I went through with it. The very first thing Dr. Nini said when he examined me was that he wanted to try trigger point injections first before considering any epidural treatment. That instantly told me he was actually listening to my concerns instead of rushing me into procedures. I received the trigger point injections today and already feel hopeful again. Awesome pain management doctor, excellent staff, and still someone who genuinely tries to help his patients instead of taking the "one size fits all" approach. Highly recommended. Next week, he referred me to get nerve conduction studies to rule out a pinched nerve. Hands down BEST PM Doctor in LA!!!

She spent half the time telling me how much she hates California and my former state, Washington and why would I want to move here. I got so tired of her shoving her conservative politics down my throat, I just walked out. I don't care who anybody votes for but if I'm going to a doctor for help, I don't care to hear her politics. The second one was unwilling to listen. I got cut off repeatedly. I went through a great deal of trouble to get records, test results and other documents. She didn't even look at them. A total waste of time. Pathetic. If you're considering this place please, please don't do this to yourself. If you need good pain management I suggest Dr Maryam Rahimi at OC Pain. They listen. They care. Unfortunately they only take Optum and I had to switch to regal to keep my primary care doctor. He's an amazing doctor, but the only way I can get good pain relief is to switch back to dr rahimi's office. Synovation is easily the worst place I've ever gone for medical care. And I've tried them twice, four years apart, two different locations and two different providers. Both deserve one star.

She didn't look at anything I gave her, not scans, not MRI nothing and told me she don't have time. I told her but I gave the frot desk a typed out paper I brought for her that lists all the types of modalities I have tried, my list of meds, all my doctors. And he she still wouldn't look at it and the nurses never gave it to her. They all just returned my scans to me without telling me they can't look at them because they don't have a cd slot. She treated me like I was there seeing drugs when I told her I do not want drugs, after all I've been through and the level of pain I am in I am looking for alternative help. And again explained that everything is on the paper I gave her and she still wouldn't look at it. She said we can do an injection and I said again, I have already done 3 and they didn't work. And again asked her to look over what I brought her. She said well if you won't do the injection, I am not going to give you meds that's our last resort and I don't know what you want. She was extremely rude, didn't listen to anything I said, didn't look at any scans, didn't look at any paperwork and acted like I was there for meds, even after explaining to her that I don't want that. I left angry and crying. My pain is unbearable and I was there for a second opinion. This was awful.
