I had a back issue that was driving me crazy crazy. I have kaiser insurance and went there to see what they could do but if you know hospitals there are lots of steps you have to go through in order to get what you want for example X-ray or MRI. So when I knew I was going to have to jump through hoops and pay for multiple doctor copays I decided I was going to try acupuncture. I had zero expectations and didn't really know what it was. I went in and visited with Dr. Tobin and she treated my back with acupuncture and the low light laser. I did two sessions and it worked. It's been at least 6 months with no relapse. For all the good reviews, I have had an awful experience. I was confirmed that our insurance would cover our sessions, and would reimburse us. Yet every time we tried to get reimbursed they would make excuses and stall. Eventually we discovered they lied about coverage, and had never even filed for our insurance. Not only did we pay out of pocket against contract, the supplements that Mary so forcefully made me take eventually made me sick. They didn't even suggest the supplements; they coerce and force you to pay up front for it. The methods she used to prescribe were utter unorthodox and had no actual stake in medical science, which is probably why I felt worse than when I went in. So unless you like being scammed, reeled in, and fooled into alternative medicine that could do more harm than good, avoid this place. read more

I think that Dr. Tobin is a miracle worker. I am a huge advocate of natural healing and eastern medicine ... my husband has been loyal to his HMO, but has always struggled with his doctors to find the root of his health concerns. For years, they have been treating symptoms with drugs and procedures, and not making much progress. About a month ago, Dear Husband became ill. He gave it time, rest, over-the-counter medicine and his symptoms only grew worse. He finally went to a same-day appointment at his well-known-often-disliked-shall-remain-nameless HMO facility, where they ran tests (poorly), had symptoms overlooked (alarmingly), was wrongly diagnosed twice (not a surprise), and given medication that made him feel worse. He literally thought he was slowly dying. It was as if his digestive system was just giving up and throwing in the towel. A friend referred us to Dr. Tobin, and with the blessing of my own personal holistic practitioner, DH finally decided that enough was enough and he needed to try something different. Don't go here unless you want to spend thousands of dollars and find no relief. I came to dr Tobin as a last resort because western medicine couldn't help me. I had symptoms of weight gain, burping, bloating, constipation, acid reflux and more and dr Tobin had me doing Accupuncture, foot detox's, and a massage bed. I paid over 4,000 for her services and she didn't even test me properly I can't even explain to my doctors what kind of testing I got because I don't even understand it. All she told me was that I had toxins in my body and lots of inflammation. I was basically put on a protocol that she gives to everyone it was not customized to my needs at all. It's now a year later and I feel worse then before I saw her and now I can't afford to see another practitioner because I spent my entire savings seeing her for 3 months. She had me doing keto and taking all these supplements to lose weight but never told me what the root cause was or test me for anything specific. It went undiagnosed for at least five years, and reeks havoc on my system, leading to a heart procedure, dysautonomia, and gallbladder removal. I saw Dr. Tobin last week and I was impressed with how much she helped me. I have scoliosis and two harrington rods surgically placed along my spine. Due to the rods, I have lifelong muscle tension all over my back. Lately, I've had tension headaches a lot and my whole back was in knots. ON the second appointment I told Ms Tobin I was a bit confused as I made an appointment for acupuncture and her response was I could get it on my next appointment. This review is long over due. I originally came to Dr. Tobin to combat weight gain and fatigue. I was literally in her office in tears over the frustration I was experiencing with my body. For over a year I had been hitting the gym 5 days a week, eating ridiculously healthy, doing yoga, kick boxing -- you name it -- I showed some improvements but then continued to gain weight. I knew I had to do something. I'm a believer in alternative/natural medicine but had never actually been to see a holistic doctor before. After numerous calls to different natural health professionals around Orange and L.A. counties, I found Dr. Tobin. She put me on a three month treatment plan that worked with my budget. I don't want this review to drag on for too long, so to cut it short, within the first month I had lost ten pounds and am now down nearly twenty! My energy is back and, as cliche as it sounds, I feel better than I have in years. I started seeing Dr. Tobin at the end of January 2017. I want to start off by explaining, in short, my situation. I am 45 and have been sick for most of my life. I have seen multiple doctors in multiple specialty disciplines for many many years. I am going to name just a few of my ailments here...Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Psoriatic Arthritis, Osteo Arthritis, Poly Arthritis, Narcolepsy, Degenerative Disc Disease, Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Mold Toxicity just to name a few. I have had multiple surgeries and have tried just about every therapy available. You have to understand that being as chronically ill as I am even getting out to go to appointments takes a lot of planning as I have minimal energy and maximum pain. When I began seeing Dr. Tobin I wasn't sure what to expect but since traditional doctors had not been able to help me I was desperate and hopeful that maybe just maybe this might help even if only a little tiny bit. My main disability keeps me in constant pain both acute and chronic and with all of the additional issues, many not listed here, I am always very tired as my body has to work very hard to keep functioning as normally as possible ( which to most ppl wouldnt be too normal). I was very pleasantly surprised when I met Dr. Tobin. She was very open and spent a lot of time with me. Much more than any other doctor I had ever seen. I have been told multiple times by different doctors that I am a medical mystery, an anomaly...but Dr. Tobin took everything in stride. As I stated above nothing much worked for me. I followed traditional doctors orders to the tee and at times I would feel better for at most a day but would return to my struggle. Once I started seeing Dr. Tobin and taking her recommended supplements I started seeing an improvement. It was a very small improvement at first, most people would not be able to see it...but I could feel it. And for me any improvement is a huge deal. I am still a work in progress, but with Dr. Tobins help I have come farther than I ever have with any other practitioner of any type. I used to only have 1-2 hours (on a good day) of what I call "up time" with the remainder in bed "resting" and now I am up to 3 sometimes 4 hours of functionability. You have to understand for me this is HUGE!!!! But this is acupuncture and if you have done any research most insurance does not pay for acupuncture and if they do its typically not a very good one. I have been to see Dr. Tobin on three separate occasions now. All of them have been related to my sporadic back pain. Those who have had back pain understand that we are often looking for answers while hoping to avoid any type of surgery or otherwise invasive procedure. In the past I had relied on both chiropractic and conventional medicine. If being high on pain killers to avoid pain is not your cup of tea, you need to try acupuncture. With just three treatments Dr. Tobin was able to do for me what otherwise had taken months of doctor and chiropractor visits. I came in bent over in extreme pain and left after the first treatment very relaxed and able to stand up straight. If the whole needle things scares you, I can tell you that it does not hurt. In the past two years I have made many visits to my doctor for stomach discomfort. She said I had IBS and wanted to put me on medications. I refused to go on any meds as some have some worrisome side effects. I was finally referred to a gastro specialists.
