I started seeing Dr. Craig Mortenson around November of 2024. I was having all kinds of weird symptoms and my body was all out of wack. My blood pressure and cholesterol was up, my hormones were down, and I was having weird panic attacks that I've never had before. After trying a few things that made me feel better but not great, my test results came back as having leaky gut in March of 2025. He asked me to get on a strict protein diet and gave me a few supplements, after about 3 months I was feeling better but still had to maintain my diet and supplements and now at month 5 I'm feeling great again and all my tests are stable. I am so grateful to Dr Craig's and his office. My life has changed so much since I started seeing him. I am a Covid long hauler since July 2022. I have suffered from horrific multiple systemic issues. I tried everything from western medicine, a Chinese medicine natural path, massage, chiropractors, and the list of money expenses goes on. When I came to Dr Craig back in January I told him he was my last hope. Although some of my symptoms got mildly better I still had burning skin in my ribs and torso area, the only way I can explain it is it felt like someone poured battery acid inside me. My gut was still a mess and kept flaring to the point where I continuously had to lay down throughout the day. When I would run an errand I would have to come home to rest instantly. My anxiety and nervous system was still at a high level. My hair was shedding like crazy. I was also limited to specific foods because I was having mast cell and histamine issues from my destroyed microbiome after my Covid infection. When I left I still believed I would be disabled and not be able to work. Well it's now 6 mos later and I am actively interviewing for a job. My anxiety and nerves have settled. I'm getting a good nights sleep every night. The burning has faded tremendously. I'm eating a wider variety and diversity of foods with no reactions. I was 115lbs and underweight and now I'm back to my regular 130lbs. My hair has stopped falling out and is growing again. My gut is healing ‍.... I've been trying to figure out my cyclical fatigue issues for 5 years and after exhausting Kaiser Permanente's testing and specialists, I pursued functional medicine via yelp. IFM had great reviews so I made an appointment. Dr. Craig was nice, knowledgeable and easy to understand, thus the three stars. However, I had to minus one star for not healing me. Minus another star for making me worse. Long story short, my body was so weak that all the supplements he recommended made me worse than before. I paid for two appointments. Paid for labs. Paid for supplements. All out of pocket because I was so desperate to get better even though I have health insurance. I also felt he wasn't that responsive and wanted to wait for appointments to answer my questions. My first appointment was August of last year and I'm barely gaining the mental capacity to write this review 7 months later. I found Dr Mortensen on mapquest I was tired of feeling sick all the time with not a proper diagnosis from my alopathic doctors. After seeing many medical doctors about a number of seemingly chronic problems, with no apparent remedies and looking for an alternative to taking prescription drugs of any kind, I started seeing Dr. Craig in the Fall of 2017. After checking out the website for Premier IFM and watching some of Dr. Craig's posted You Tube informational videos, I decided to give him a try. The office is comfortable and all of his staff are very friendly. Dr. Craig is kind, professional and knowledgeable. From the very beginning of my treatment, he listened to my history in detail and then explained all the available options for care on my first visit. I truly belief in the concept of functional medicine in looking for and fixing the root cause of illnesses/diseases (two stars). However, I would suggest anyone with this belief to seek a practitioner who doesn't sell his/her own supplements. Dr. Craig may be very knowledgeable in his area of expertise but at the end of the day, I was left with the impression that he is more of a salesman than a practitioner who is more interested in selling you his extremely high priced 'supplements' which has the same identical ingredients as the ones you can purchase elsewhere at a fraction of costs then ensuring that you are on the most cost effective path to recovery. Dr. Craig's claim that he has no confidence in what other manufacturers' brand contain and his supplements are of much superior quality than others are words of a typical salesman. Here is the million dollar question; are his multi-vitamins, melatonin, turmeric, gaba, iodine/selenium, etc... truly that much better than others?? From my personal experience, the answer is NO. After two months on Dr. Craig's supplements, I can attest there is absolutely no difference compared to the ones I was taking before because there has been absolutely no improvement. I do realize Dr. Craig mentioned that 'my journey to recovery will be lengthy'. However, it was extremely disappointing and frustrating to see no improvements after two months. in fact, my symptoms were getting worst while religiously taking Dr. Craig's supplements. I knew something had to be done rather than keep going down this path of swallowing Dr. Craig's 'superior' supplements everyday. I was fortunate enough and very grateful to find another practitioner who was able to understand the root cause of my problem. One should never under estimate the importance of energy flow and blockage in your body which can cause many of the illnesses/diseases we all experience, which no blood test can detect. After having mysterious health issues since childhood, seeing many doctors, several of which made me think it was "all in my head." After various therapists, neurologists, specialists, etc...I have finally found help. I have a medically complex 3-year-old (Austin) who has struggled with significant health issues his entire life.
