Ordered a to to. Beef soup pho and crab wagoon. Not the best wagon I've had..the filling did not taste like cream cheese at all. It wasn't tasty. The pho was okay. Normal pho. I like that they had all the hot sauce and chili available at the take. Good Cutomer service and quiet ambience.

Vietnamese Crab Cake Soup

WOW. I am really shocked at how much this place exceeded my expectations for Vietnamese food. specifically their bun rieu!!! I did not expect any Vietnamese restaurant by Seaside/Monterey to serve such a specialty dish, and not only serve it but even make it better than some places in San Jose which is known for Viet food. their portion sizes were very generous for the price. My bun rieu bowl was $14 for a small which was more like a regular size bowl. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone craving Vietnamese food in the area. Bonus: this restaurant is in the same plaza as Lynn's Arcade which is an amazing local pinball arcade. Very fun for a date idea :)

Roast pork with noodles

This review is based on my UberEats order from Orient Restaurant. Speed: Quick. I received the food pretty quickly. The food was packaged well. Value: Poor. Pictured was carry out that was $61. The braised catfish was NOT worth $16. There was only 5 pieces of fish in a half filled container. The Crispy Spicy Beef was over cooked and over seasoned. The roast pork vermicelli noodles were OK. The roast pork was very dry and noodles were cold. I was very unsatisfied with my order. Huge disappointment.

Excellent service and delicious food. With new ownership, the atmosphere is now more inviting.

Hightly recommend it; the place is spotless and has lots of parking lots. The only place that I find the best dry egg noodle around here. Also the best service

I can't believe I hadn't posted a review yet. As you'll see in a few of my reviews, whenever I move to a new area, at the top of my to-do list is to find my new favorite local Asian spot (usually Chinese) and Orient is it! They are a little pricier than I'm used to with much smaller portions than I've experienced in the past, but, it's still totally worth it. The food is cooked to order and always fresh and tasty! You can certainly tell that they are using quality ingredients. Just two days ago I had their wonton soup and it's the best wonton soup I've had to date. Everything tasted soo good. My go-to items on the menu are their bbq pork fried rice, salt n pepper shrimp (shell on) and crispy spicy seafood. I also note that whenever I pick up my food there's usually a few patrons in the dining area diligently working on cleaning their plates.

Small Beef Comb Pho

Came here on my lunch and ordered the Beef Combination Pho and man, I was blasted away with superb flavor. The broth was perfect along with the noodles and meat. They have hoisin sauce, sriracha, chili crisp oil, and this very good green salsa type deal that made the soup absolutely POP. The Fresh Lemonade was really delicious and refreshing. Staff is very nice and bubbly and helpful! 10/10 would Pho again!

Nice staff and the food was good but the service was a little slow despite not being too crowded. I would go back.

We ordered a wide variety: pork potstickers, veggie egg rolls, crab rangoons, a small hot and sour soup, General Tso's chicken, orange chicken, chicken fried rice, beef chow mein, and honey wall chicken wings. Overall, the food was good for classic Chinese takeout, though the flavors were on the mild side. We're originally from South Louisiana where food is very well seasoned, so this may come down to personal taste (and California tending to have a lighter seasoning style). Even so, the seasoning could have been a little stronger across the board. Spice-wise, everything was extremely mild--our six-year-old could eat everything easily. Next time, I'd probably skip the hot and sour soup (I've had better elsewhere) and the fried rice. The rice had way too many peas and not enough carrots, and the ratio felt off. That said, this is still the best Chinese food we've had in Monterey by far. It doesn't even compare to the other places we've tried, and we'll definitely be ordering again--just knowing to ask for extra seasoning or spice.

A waitress noticed me quickly and came to ask if had placed an order or needed to. They have a big menu! The lunch specials are amazing deals - a main course, with chow mein, fried rice, and soup! All for less than $15?! In this economy?? So I ordered the cashew chicken and a starter of cheese puffs (wanton). The food was all flavorful, the chow mein had a deliciously satisfying chew, the cheese puffs had a tangy cream cheese filling. I would say there wasn't an abundance of chicken - but there was a lot of other food to make up for it. Oh and complimentary hot green tea! I will definitely come back again!

The lunch specials are pretty good and reasonably priced, especially for this area. There were only two servers working: a younger woman handling cleanup and table setup, and a senior woman taking orders and serving food. The workflow felt a bit unorganized -- it would be smoother if they backed each other up. Overall, the lunch specials were solid and a good value here.
