Quaint little room next to the cafe with an incredible view
Uriel K.

Really pleasantly surprised by this place. Since the new owners took over in December, it's really improved. The atmosphere is welcoming, the service is on point, and the food delivers. The breakfast burrito is a standout, especially paired with one of the salads. Oh, and the espresso is actually good which is hard to find in Orcas. Sits right next to the ferry, making it an easy pit stop if you're in the area.

Coffee time.

Adding to my previous review. Went back for the breakfast burrito. Did not disappoint! Delicious and gigantic! Definitely a sharing situation if you have a person you'd like to share with. I'm saving mine for lunch later. Super friendly service and great vibes in the little cafe. Sounds of a mixer and such good smells. And of course the view! Yummy. SYOY!

I really wanted to like this place because it's so gorgeous, and I loved how they included historical photos and their backstories, plus some historical items throughout the first and second floors. They also have beautiful grounds, and if you order at the Cafe, you can eat it outside, anywhere on the grounds, or inside if you wish. However, the food was severely overpriced for the serving size, flavor, and ingredient quality. Maybe it's because they're on an island and don't have access to quality ingredients or quantities. Still, the service was excellent, and the servers were super sweet and attentive. We felt bad because when our food was ready, our server was walking around looking for us since we decided to post up on the front porch area, and most folks ate closer to the Cafe. We're still glad we tried this place. The views are amazing, of course, since it's on the waterfront and has a small adjacent parking lot. A big shoutout to Stewart, one of the groundskeepers, who gave us more information on the hotel and even gave us a great recommendation for the White Horse Pub, which we loved!

The head chef and co owner offering new incredible donut holes to guests.

Outstanding breakfast while in a rush to the ferry. Loved the elegant touch of a whipped yogurt which delish handmade jam. Congrats to the new owners, the space is now so full of light and stylish simplicity.

A must-visit. Under new ownership, this place has been transformed into a space that is both beautiful and genuinely inviting. The service strikes a rare balance--warm, attentive, and thoughtfully unobtrusive. The code is some of the best the island has to offer. I sampled a scone that was nothing short of divine, and the knowledge that the baked goods are made in-house lends the café an unmistakable sense of comfort and care. It's the kind of place that stays with you long after the last sip.

Saint Patrick's day leftovers

Cheers to a wonderful birthday weekend at Orcas hotel. We got in late Friday night and they had a saint Patrick's celebration dinner so they scooped us a plate since the restaurant was closed and we were done for the night. The food is and was wonderful, the stay was warm and cozy. We were on the top floor so I do wish that we had extra towels without having to ask. We also noticed that there were a lot of flies if you weren't careful. And the room is warm, however the fan and window open really did help. The people there were so kind to us and they're pet friendly. We had water and fudge waiting for us in the room and it was such a beautiful small space with a nice tub and bed to stay cozy in.

Iconic nighttime sight at Orcas landing...always makes me want to stop by for a beer and a cup of chowder on my way home

We love EVERYTHING about the Orcas Hotel Cafe. Great food to pick up on your way to the ferry of an amazing destlocation for dinner and cocktails at sunset. The breakfast sandwich is huge and the chicken pot pie is a great comfort food on Sundays for dinner. Don't miss the fish and chips for lunch! Oh, did I mention the cocktails?

Wow Tesla dates are one of the new things we are experiencing. We got off the ferry and I wanted some hot chocolate and warm apple cider. Then he saw the burger and fries and he devoured it! He said it was better than sex haha and we're on our honeymoon. No it was absolutely delicious. The fries are VERY good. Salted well and I handed vinegar which was *chefs kiss* Can't beat this as our first meal! This has an amazing view and it was nice to sit outside even in October. Very happy to support this historic hotel!

Beautiful historic hotel on the waterfront with cute and cozy rooms and amazing views! The staff is super friendly and the in-house restaurant was tasty. I would very much so recommend Orcas Hotel for your next visit to Orcas Island!

We ordered the burrito with out the tortilla, (gluten-free) they added bacon and avocado. Incredibly good. Fresh and hot. Just the right amount of pepper for hear. Bacon was perfect. Latte was good. No complaints

We were starved and had our dreams crushed when we learned that the ferry was canceled to Friday Harbor at 655 am. We had plans to go to the Salty Fox to eat. We came back here after learning that nowhere on the island is opened on a Tuesday or is opened before 9 except a coffee place. Which I had visited earlier. This place was a godsend. We arrived , ordered and the young lady waiting on us asked if we were from Pennsylvania because of my T-shirt. I said yes and she said she was from Ohio and I asked what part and she said Youngstown. It's our neighbor by an hour and replied we live in Pittsburgh. Now the food sandwiches were all at 10.59 which is more expensive than PA but this is and island. I had the breakfast sandwich with sausage , egg and bacon. It was so damn good. Better than any Dunkin or Starbucks that I've ever had. My kids and wife got the Mexican burrito and it was enormous and delicious as well. Overall happy we visited. You sit inside or outside. Order when you arrive and they call your name to pick up your food.

Safety concern
Angelita R.

July 20th, Wednesday evening as my party of 4 waited for the ferry back to Anacortes. we decided to stop by the Orcas Hotel Cafe for dinner. Unfortunately, my partner fell on a precarious step to the front of the cafe that sent her phone flying and her knees hit the wooden deck hard! The step needs to be repainted with yellow or red paint to clearly present the safety issue. Our food was delicious: cheeseburger, chicken burrito & salad. The bathroom was clean & easily accessible. Biggest concern is the safety of future patrons with the precarious step that has a very faint unnoticeable cautionary note, refer to pictures. This put a damper on our Orcas Island trip! Strongly recommend painting the step to prevent anyone else from falling.

Check the bag/ to go order before you leave, missing half our order and the meat in the quesadilla was left out. Service not good either.

I'm genuinely surprised by the nearly 5-star rating based on our experience…read more We visited around 1:30 PM and were told that hot food was no longer being served. We then tried to order a salad, and were told that oh also that wasn't available. honestly felt like they just didn't feel like making anything. The only real option left was smoothies and açaí bowls. We ended up ordering three açaí bowls for the kids and a smoothie. At around $15 per bowl, the portions were shockingly small--only about a quarter full with five banana slice and three strawberries. one bowl was missing almond butter. The protein* smoothie couldn't be made properly because they were out of the protein powder. They offered to substitute collagen instead - not the same thing but ok. no discount. no acknowledgement. I understand that restaurants run out of items occasionally, but between most of the menu being unavailable, the outrageous price for the quality of the output, missing ingredients, and the complete lack of an apology or acknowledgment, this was a very disappointing experience.

We ordered a few lattes made with their in-house syrups, and every single one of them was incredible. We loved them so much we went back for them again and again over the weekend we were there. We also tried their chorizo burrito and donuts, which were both outstanding. I honestly want to go back to the island just to eat here again! The ambiance of the place is awesome. It is super kid-friendly outside, featuring a wonderful yard with plenty of toys and things to do, which makes it incredibly relaxing for families. To top it all off, the staff was incredibly nice, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visits. I highly, highly recommend checking out Medio Cafe if you are anywhere near the San Juan Islands. It was so good, and it's an absolute must-visit spot that we will definitely keep coming back to!

We selected the frosted sugar cookie shaped like Orcas Island. This was shared a few days later and was not stale or hard, which of course, was appreciated. The grilled sandwiches were picked up from a takeout window after a brief wait at an outdoor two top. Both came with a bag of chips. It was pleasant dining al fresco with dappled sunshine and slight breeze. Plus it was amusing seeing plump little birds hanging out in the garden hoping to snag a crumb or two that might fall from the diner's tables. I ate half of the Italian sandwich, generously prepared on focaccia with soppresata, hot coppa, mortadella w/pistachio, pepper jack cheese, roasted red peppers, pepperoncini, arugula, tomato, and garlic aioli. This was delicious! The other half kept well in the ice chest for later. The Homie opted for the Adult Grilled Cheese that had some serious cheese pull. Perfected toasted with compound butter, Swiss cheese, provolone, caramelized onions, balsamic glaze on sourdough bread. Great detour for lunch and a treat!

It was on the sweeter side, since it is presweetened. I ordered a regular Matcha Latte the next day, and was able to adjust the sweetness. The Doe Bay Biscuit was excellent. I got it without cheese and it still held up great. They also have a ton of pastries to pick from. I got the Black Tahini Sesame Tea Cake.
