After reading the other reviews here re Orbit, I feel a responsibility to share my own experience with the company and specifically "LG". The only Yelp reviews I've ever posted on companies were completely positive and with full recommendations (so this is very out of character for me). After reading the other Orbit reviews here, I've come to the conclusion that Orbit appears to do a proficient job...unless they make a huge costly mistake. Then they IMMEDIATELY go into CYA mode, which primarily includes "LG" becoming petty and continually untruthful despite witness and photographic evidence to the contrary. It reminds me of the movie The Rainmaker when it comes out at trial that the Great Benefit Insurance Company manual tells the reps to "deny, deny, deny". Anyway, LG's mode of operation quickly changes from being helpful, into something very different when he needs to avoid any monetary responsibility, which seems to be why my experience was sadly so different than the others posted (doesn't appear that the others ran into a huge mishap like I did). Things definitely changed quickly as soon as "LG" sensed his company might be responsible for the senseless damage they caused to my items. After the way he dealt with me in the aftermath of the debacle, I have no doubt that he (or someone from Orbit) will post a response with the same lame excuses he gave me, or more false statements regarding their recklessness with my items or regarding my specific instructions to them. I expect nothing less than to see that pop up after what I've experienced. My busy season work-wise is from Sept-Jan, so I am just now getting around to writing this review. So I asked someone in the furniture business for the number of a white glove delivery company, and was given Orbit's contact info. I called and let Lisa know the items I had, and that I specifically needed "white glove" service. I actually mentioned it a few times (one call was witnessed by my girlfriend). I was given a fair price for the move as we continued to work on dates in Sept. Later when I was signing off on the deal, it turned out that the "white glove" service was not included in the price I had been given a few times. Lisa pointed out that my invoice did not list "white glove" service (which it didn't). So, I will take this minor mishap on myself as a simple miscommunication between the two of us (even though I had been specific three times). In the end, no harm no foul. I just paid someone on the other end to assist. Now onto the real debacle, which is the focus of this review. During the initial call, I gave dimensions of all items needing to be shipped to Lisa. I also emailed photos of each item. The only item that needed specific shipment/handling instructions was my huge new animal hide hand-stitched rug. When I first received the rug from the company I bought from, I was given specific instructions to never fold the rug in any way due to the stitching and backing. It must always be "rolled full length", and never folded over. This one specific instruction was given in each of the three phone calls I had with Lisa. I even asked her if they had crates/pallets long enough to accommodate the full 14'6" rolled rug. She assured me that they build them to the needed size so it would be no problem. Each invoice update I received (including the final invoice) listed all items to be shipped. There was only one of the items listed which had specific packing instructions: "14FT 6INCH RUG ROLLED UP". So, in my humble opinion, Lisa understood the specific critical instruction for the handling of this new rug, and even listed it properly on the invoice. Once it progressed to "LG" and his boys, that specific instruction was clearly ignored. The crates showed up on time in AZ. One of the crates was the right length, so we knew my new rug was rolled up and placed in the longest one. To our amazement when we opened up the crate, the guys had rolled it very unevenly, and then worse, they folded it over sharply like a bobbypin (or like a pretzel)! It was precisely opposite of the repeated specific instructions I gave (and which was properly listed on the invoice). We couldn't believe it. So they built the crate for the correct length to accommodate the full length of the rug as promised, but then presumably to save a little space they decided to snap it over in half and cram it in between other items! When we unfolded and then unrolled this beautiful new rug, it had sharp deep creases and huge ridges that would not straighten out. Later when we had an expert look at it, he quickly stated that "whoever packed it this way has ruined it and definitely should have known better even without the instructions". He then stated it was a total loss. By the way, after we unloaded my new executive desk, they had also scratched up the corners of the top. Just icing on the cake I guess. Part II: I immediately emailed Lisa regarding the damage they caused and included photos while the rug was still crammed into the crate, and after it was spread out. While I did not receive a reply from her, I did receive one from "LG". To sum the whole thing up, he refused to admit that he had ignored the specific listed instructions. Instead, he elected to take the low road and concocted an absurd story stating that I had somehow okayed it with his packers for the rug to be folded over (which I most certainly did not). He even tried to deny that the photos clearly showed they had sharply folded over a sloppily rolled rug in half, contrary to the instructions. The photo couldn't have been any clearer (nor could my witnesses have been). He repeatedly stated in his email that his "findings" were this, that, or the other (like he's a detective). I can assure you from a painful experience, his "findings" are basically the excuses he concocts to avoid responsibility....aka CYA. It was all just so demeaning and condescending. THANK GOD I bought insurance for the move. Anyone who has had to make a claim for damage during a move certainly knows that insurance companies do not pay for the damage unless it's all crystal clear. This was my first time to make a claim. Needless to say, after the insurance carrier reviewed all the photos, the invoice with specific instructions, the two expert appraisals as a total loss, and all of my correspondence with Orbit (primarily LG), they paid for the entire loss of the rug at full price, and some damage to the desk as well. If not for receiving the full amount as a total loss of my beautiful new rug, I certainly would have taken further action with regard to Orbit. By the way, I've given them the 1 Star because they at least allowed my items to remain at their warehouse a little longer than usual when my arrival date changed. This was obviously prior to the debacle. My advice to others is this. If nothing major goes wrong, you may end up okay using Orbit and LG will be sweet as honey. However, if anything major does go wrong, you BETTER HAVE AMPLE INSURANCE because that honey turns to vinegar quicker than you'd believe. Some companies and managers do the right thing when they screw up. This is not that company and certainly not that manager, so make sure you have proper insurance in place! Best of luck. read more

I hired Orbit Packing to pick up a Delicate Ultra Sound machine from my medical practice. I had sold it to a company in India. They did a great job. They were very knowledgeable on packing and shipping technics. Orbit subjected having the machine vacuum sealed into a barrier bag with moisture absorbing desiccant to protect it from corrosion for the ocean voyage prior to packing and wood crating the instrument. I'm glad I listened to their advice. Bottom line is the customer called me upon receiving the instrument in in India 5 weeks later to let me know the instrument was in perfect condition sealed it there barrier bag despite the fact that the crate and cushioning material on the outside of the bag were sopping wet. Apparently the shipping company my customer had hired left the crate sitting out in the rain for two days in India. I was referred to Orbit by a local moving company. I had some items I wanted to ship to my Sister in Seattle Washington. My shipment was not large enough for the moving company. Orbit did a fantastic job. They came out to my house in Sarasota Fl. Looked over the items I wanted to ship, took measurements. sent me back a written quote later that same day. I placed the order they came out on time packed all my china and delicate items at my house, blanket wrapped the larger items Lg dresser, headboard, foot board, 2 night stands and a glass china cabinet to be packed further at their warehouse. The shipment arrived on time and in excellent condition. They really did a good job of cushioning the items and nesting them together to keep the shipment as small as possible. Needed to move some furniture from Sarasota to Indianapolis after a death in the family. LG was great to work with, explained the process indepth, and really set my mind at ease about the care and safe handling my things would receive. The crew that came in a packed was very professional and carefully packed up the family heirlooms. Shipping took a couple of extra days due to weather related road conditions but that was fine. I'd rather they keep my items safe than risk an accident on icy roads. I would not hesitate to recommend them for packing and moving treasured items. Should I need long distance moving in the future they will be my first call. read more

I hired this company to help me ship some of my mothers Items. My mother was in a nursing care center in Clearwater Fl. Due to her health we were having her move to a new Facility closer to our home in Chicago area. Mt Mother had many personal items, clothing, a cedar chest, grandfather clock. They came out on time packed everything and shipped it to Chicago and everything arrived on time and in great condition. From the first call into the office to the final delivery I received nothing but professionalism.
